Back in our motel room resting up for the trip home. Wanted to get a few pictures posted before nap time. Having sold my 16 Auto at the show I found this 93 520-H with hydraulic Lift and steering reduction. I love it already. Needs some cosmetic work but runs great and does not smoke. Eldon and Ken checked it out for me and gave it a thumbs up. Thanks Guys Eldon made me a great deal on a 42" rear discharge deck so I am anxious to get it home and mow some grass. Here is a picture of TT helping me load and tie it down properly.

I will get my pictures (all 4 or so of them) uploaded probably tomorrow, but I wanted to take a minute to say THANK YOU to the members who were at the show. You all were so warm and welcoming to me and my girls, we are so fortunate to be associated with such wonderful people. I met so many of you today, and am completely humbled by the community that RedSquare has created, and I am so happy to be a part of it. It was so awesome to shake hands with you and I truly wish that the day would have been longer (and the sun a little less intense) to have spent more time with you all. Late last week, I made a decision that we would come to the show on Saturday and told very few of the plans. I was dropping little hints during the week of the intentions and had a wonderful surprise on Friday when Mike (Sparky) decided to come with me to the show. It's always great to spend time with Mike and today was no exception. I didn't get to see a lot of the tractors at the show, and honestly it wasn't my intention to do that. My full intention was to meet as many of my friends here as I possibly could, and thank you for being there, your support of the forum and continued support for me as I continue to recover. I will cherish this day for quite some time, not only meeting all of you, but being part of a RedSquare group picture (can't wait to see it) and watching my girls sell some parts for Glen Pettit (that was SO cool Glen, and they had the time of their life. Thank you for trusting them it meant a lot to them and to me!) Hopefully I'll get the pictures from my phone tomorrow, but I wanted to say how happy today was for me, I am so fortunate to be associated with such a great place!

It was awesome Neil. Met at least 50 red square members and customers. Sold enough decals to cover the trip expenses and a bit more so that part was a total surprise. We bought our book today and have not had time to look at it yet but will tonight. Seemed there was a steady stream at our canopy all day Thursday and Friday so I did not get a chance to look at all the tractors or visit with members as much as I would have liked but we still had a great time. Definitely making the trip again next year. See you then.

traded the red 99 sierra presidents day weekend on a new crew cab. even though it was time, and keeping in mind the work that i needed to do on the old girl to travel to some of the further away shows this summer, it was still hard to let it go. and i sort of still have second thoughts every now and again...... BUT, i really love the new one, drives awesome, much better fuel economy, more comfortable too than the buckets in the red one that would be killing my back after anything more than an hour in them, but i see where 14 years of changes are not always all for the better. the sheet metal is getting so thin on these newer models, and everywhere you see where corners are being cut to save some $$$$........ gotta stop grumbling though, im really happy with it and I'm glad ive moved on. nice to have the extra room in the crew, since the last one was an extended.... this one should be a keeper for quite a while. need to find a trailer now to load up the horses for some show time later this summer....... color has been growing on me, its the heritage blue color that has some real different shades of blue in there, at first in some different light i wasnt sure if id made the right color choice, just not sure about the 'purple' hints, but ive always been partial to blue when possible, so i took the plunge. i still have red tractors though, that will never change.......

We were traveling along I-68 on our way to Chambersburg PA and noticed a Wheel Horse sticker on the back of a truck window. As we passed I realized it was Stevasaurus and his wife. What are the chances? Good thing we met up because he led us right to the Comfort Inn in Chambersburg. Nice place to stay and we will be staying over Sat night to rest up for the 820 mile trip home. Having a great time already.

Well since a lot of members are at the big show in Pa., I thought this would be a good time to show you what we are doing this weekend. We burned brush all day yesterday and decided it was time to take down an old shed I built a long time ago to house the B60 after I bought it. Since the newer garage was built this shed didn't get much use and fell into disrepair out of neglect. Here are a couple of pics of the process. Removing the siding... The B60 with the trailer ready to haul it to the fire... And a little video of the action... I have another video of the C85 pushing the roof to the fire, but it takes so long to upload them. I might add it later today. Thanks for watching! (title should say yesterday)

Karl, It was one terrific surprise to see Sparky (who said he wasn't going to be there), then to have the guy next to him turn to face me and to see that it was you. I thought that I was hallucinating from the heat, but no, it was you. You are right when you say that RedSquare is a family. A bunch of us were talking later on saying that coming to the show each year is more like a family reunion than a tractor meet. I really enjoyed meeting your daughters as well, and was there when Glen was giving them the "lesson" on marketing. Glad too that you were able to visit our campsite as well. This is not the official picture, but here is one taken by Jo Marian with my camera.

I have a belt guard off of my 854 that I replaced with a better one. It should fit your 855 fine. I will give it to you if you will pay the shipping. Please PM me if interested.

Virtually a complete set of attachments for the C-160 sitting there Jason, and everything but both the blowers sold today. Can you believe, I fielded not one single bite on that little round hood blower, figured it would have gone with the quickness. Word is though...Lars over in Norway is actively looking for one as we speak. Who knows eventually...we may be booking it a cruise over to see him via Norwegian Cruise Lines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-LslJ5mS-I

Thanks for the pics Jim. What would we do without these little tractors to do all the work for us ?
  26. 1 point
Thanks for the pic's. Isn't it great what these old Stallions can do? Still it doing well too! I couldn't imagine owning any other tractor for work, reliability, play. We all admire the engineering in our herds. Great day outside, finish your shed removal. Horses love to work!

My wife made a special effort to include the Ford truck in her video. Everything here is great....OK, maybe some of the modifications need help, but I also have a "work in progress" tractor!

There is a way to see what models used the same parts but you have to read the parts lists to be sure. If the part number is in the list for that model it will come up. Parts lists are shared by similar models so often the same item will have more than 1 part number. Go to http://www.milacalawn.com/pages/OemParts Select Toro Consumser and enter the part number (855 belt guard is # 4993) Oops - they don't have the ipl for the 855 and 1055 any more and it is shared. It was there at one time because I recorded the following that used the 4993 guard. Save this because it works for most parts. They just don't have any parts lists with the 4993 part number in it any more. Drive belt guard 4993 has the model number decal indentation 704, 754, 854, 855, 706, 856. Early production 857 and 867 has model number decal indentation. Late production 857 and 867 has no model number decal indentation. 1968 Model 1-4831 Commando 8 has no model number decal indentation. Terry. Great pics. Those JD sprayers are awesome. They can really haul A$$ when they are spraying a field.Technically Ryan. Those are JD's version of a Rogator. Which is AG-CHEM's registered trademark for their sprayers. Who also makes Terra Gators down in Jackson, MN. Ag Chem still uses Raven or Dickey John monitors. But the JD's also come with a 60' to 120' boom on them and with the Green Star GPS systems they have. The operator doesn't even have to steer them. Except to turn them on the headlands. Plus they will map a field and you can spray it next year and the machine already knows how to spray it. That same system is available on planting and tillage equipment for the same reason.Sometimes I wonder, how long before it doesn't even need an operator. Jason, I still can't drive past a dealers lot without pulling in to see what they got. No matter the brand. I love the big tractors and the changes to the equipment. I used to build pull type fertilizer and anhydrous equipment for DMI and to see this stuff actually working in the field has always been a thrill to me. I still help my family farm their 900 acres. But, we never had equipment that big. It sure is fun to look at and see it work. Pat

Charlie. While there have been an occurrence or 2 of immature youths on RedSquare, I will say that the majority of our younger crowd is really top notch. You show respect, politeness, considerate and don't engage in the text talk which I see on other forums, and even with older members. The "old" guys here do appreciate it, and look past your age and treat you with respect and admiration. Keep up the good work to you and all of our younger members.

Bit late to this thread, but I also agree that De-carbon and Oil Consumption increase is a Myth. Carbon is a danger to your engine in several ways. Here is an example on the Engine I purchased as a replacement and found this....All caused by Carbon breaking off around the exhaust valve and it stalled the piston on the upstroke damaging the top edge- Needless to say I had to fully re-bore and rebuild this one, but the Carbon was mountainous around the Exhaust Valve and must have been glowing when the engine was running. I always find pre-soaking the carbon deposits to loosen then off works well and only needs a piece of blade shaped wood to clean it all off. If you can get it like this, it's well worth doing and will run nice afterwards-

I can't seem to be able to edit my previous post where I submitted my 653 for this month so here is some additional information; Bought it in 2007 on eBay. It came from Columbus,Ohio. My fiercest competitor for it was Wild Bill. It was his questions to the seller and the fact that he stated who he was that really sparked my final interest in the tractor. Needless to say it did not come cheap. I seem to be the third owner. It was originally owned by an elderly gentleman in a farming comunity and it was only used by him for transportation. Its second owner had it only for a little while and used it only twice to mow an elementary school yard. I don't believe this tractor has ever stayed outside one day in its life or ever felt a drop of rain. With the exception of a bill of sale every other piece of paper that came with it in 1963 I have, down to the engine tag warning to put oil in before using. Everything feels tight like new specially the steering. It was certainly loved by its previous owners as testified by its condition. It has never been touched by paint or a wrench. It only had one diode changed at some time in the past . I can also state that it will stay that way for at least two more generations, since it will not go anywhere during that time.

Thanks Andy. As is the way things always look better in photo's than real life, but yes I'm a happy man Ta muchly Matt.. Yes it is going to be a bit weird seeing the ol girl looking all shiny after years of bit's of bare steel and red oxide.. Not sure I'm ready for the reality of it.. For a change the weather was quite nice yesterday with only a slight threat of thunder storms which never turned up in the end.. So the time had come to give the last of the big panels a coat of the red stuff.. Pete demonstrating how the paint wasn't applied.. "I swear the hood was this wide yesterday"! The fenders were also finished.. A bigger glimpse of things to come.. And my favorite view from yesterday...

Great thread!!...lets add Mr Rafferty in Drexel, Missouri...dealership was Rafferty Plumbing I think...he was a dedicated WH dealer and I got to visit with him one day while he was near death but was able to sit in lawn chair and watch his wife mow the lawn with a new 520....he had just closed the dealership due to health but wanted his wife to have a "good tractor" as he told me.....said it was a good one but he paid too much for it!! lol The Wheel Horse sign you see in my avatar hung behind the parts counter....he sold his WH inventory to Midland Hardware in Joplin, Missouri and I think that business closed with an auction a couple years ago. My local Wheel Horse/Toro dealer is Lumax, Belton, Missouri..(named after his sons Luke and Max)...owner is a young Toro guy that doesn't know much about Wheel Horses but he is learning....I try to support his as much as I can...plus he stocks the WH boot for me!!!....have offered to bring a few Wheel Horse tractor to display on his showroom floor when he has an "open house". I also know of a local farmer (deceased) with a story that goes like this...Cecil Pond drove up to the farm one day and said he would make Parrot Farms a dealer if he would buy (3) Wheel Horse tractors....so he bought 3 and bingo, he was a dealer!!..I have a 40' trailer load of "used WH stuff" that came from that farmer which contained 9 ole WH's (one was a Surburban 400 all original with snow blade and deck)

Good grief!!! 3rd high - LOL I've been thinking (for me) that 2nd high is plenty fast and I just got going an old IH Cub Cadet 126 gear drive. The 2nd gear high is much faster than the Wheelhorse! Nice cut it looks like your getting. Good luck, Bill
