3 pointsThanks again everyone. I didn't realize the quality of the machine I lucked into. Looks like I am going to need to learn about what all this tractor can do so that I can take full advantage of it. Looks like I'm going to have to tell my wife I have a new hobby.

2 pointsIt's great to have at least one horse with a three point hitch but of course the down side is that it's Cat 0 and here in the UK these attachments are pretty much non-existant other than those originally supplied with a tractor at the time of sale. The other down side is that the pto shaft rpm is way too high by today's standards but there are still possibilities. Last season I got a used Cat 1 boom sprayer intended for use with a compact tractor and, having a 12 volt electric pump, it was ideal for conversion for use with the D-200. My son was about this weekend so feeling inspired and needing to spray we finally got round to the conversion. Nothing fancy, just two pieces of angle welded to the frame to take the Cat 0 bottom pins, it had taken a year though to get round to doing it. I managed to pick up a long Cat 0 top pin which with a couple of bushes attaches the top link to the original fitting on the sprayer. Add a bit of extra tractor wiring using the unused electric pto switch position on the dash and the rig was ready to roll. The tank holds 60 litres (about 13 gallons) and has a submersible pump. There's a shut of valve for each arm of the boom and a third valve to control the flow to the booms to get the spray pressure just right. Seemed good value for the £200 I paid for it but now for the test. So after a successful dry run on a test strip (or should it be wet run) using just water the tank was filled with selective herbicide that should get rid of the weeds that are poisonous to horses. Jez wanted first go as he'd helped with the coversion but I'll get my turn tomorrow when he's at work! Ds love agricultural work! Andy

2 pointsI purchased a snow plow that was made for a newer Toro / Wheel Horse. Removed the plow and used the frame to make a receiver hitch for the front. It has a lift mount near the front of the frame and I also added the hydraulic lift near the middle of the frame. I have a second set of rims coming and lug tires. Will also brace the frame. Here are a couple pictures of the progress I've made. Pardon the green!

1 pointI bought a pickup truck crane and plan to use it on my 418-A to move docks at the cabin. I added a rear 2" receiver and mounted the crane to a receiver extension so it can be easily removed. The receiver is attached to a tiller mount and also has bracing to the old hitch mount on the lower portion of the axle. Seems pretty strong.

1 pointWell I had the 2012 ram QC and all was good till my wife discovered the baby seat would not fit in the back. So we figured we would just use her CR-V, until I found this deal in NJ and I could not pass it up. 2009 F-250 V-10 Crew Cab cabelas edition FX4, Ford Certified pre owned (warranty etc). Only 32700 miles on it. Came with the leer top (which I might get rid of) and all service records, religiously serviced at Ford. It sat on the dealers lot since Feburary despite the carfax and oasis reports being clean, and service records, the V-10 is a fantastic motor but must have scared some. What people don't realize fuel mileage is just about equal to the 5.4. Since this truck was their longest in inventory I got it for an amazing price and a great trade in on the Ram. I only drive 10 minutes to the train station, so my yearly mileage is under 8K, especially now as I work 6 or 7 days most weeks, so the V-10 gas mileage was not to big of a concern, and it really is not the bad. BTW my next look what followed me home should be a baby girl....any day or week now!

1 pointWell after email a guy about 2 hours away form me about a month now he finally he got sick of dealing with the internet and craigslist people. He called and took my offer because i was going to take everything for $500.00. I drove 2 hours through rain and fog to get these tractors which i though where a good deal. I ended getting a Wheel horse D160 with a sickle and a grader. Also picked up a c-125 with front wheel weights. Also a auto 160 with a plow. All the engines are free and the goodies function like they should. This is my first D wheel horse tractor kinda excited about it. Let me know how i did on everything for $500.00

1 pointFinally bought a 520. Been looking for a few years. Now I need some help. Can anyone get a year on this one? Serial # of 41200xxx1 and 14157. And why would it have a swept front axle and no gear reduction? It is a Toro model. It has a 48" deck. 860 hours,

1 pointWal Mart or TSC should have Shell Rotella 30W in gallon jugs. That's all I run in Kohlers.

1 pointI procrastinated fixing this unit because I actually found that due to an oil leak quite a while ago ( knew it deep down , I was in it for a new case ..not just a $4 seal no idea where to get one ) , as mentioned by another poster, the wet axle did cause the hubs to slip in against the casting and I too thought maybe that was the cause, ( I know it didn't help ) after I got some brake cleaner and cleaned it up , it is in fact I believe cracked at this point , but these imperfections you can see in my post , are also on the inside behind the seal and into the bearing seat .........I found no stones or dirt behind the seal ........so yes I agree it was a bad cast Bryan

1 pointYou got a great deal in my eyes. I think that C-125 (running?) with a deck and original weights is pretty much worth what you paid. Mike...........

1 pointHere is the pic. It needs some work but what doesn't that is 23 years old. Should be plenty one topics on the forum to help me fix the problems it has. Engine fires are runs perfectly though. Thats a good start. Most of what I have is going to be electrical.

1 pointI don't think there is a torque, I just try to tighten them up the same well before stripping the bolt. Does not require a lot, just a little past snug. The castings look great.

1 pointJust read up on how to maintain it and keep that screen on the motor clean!

1 pointThe 106-9907-03 only shows up for the 106-8256 conversion kit and the 79481 dozer blade for the XT-Series of tractors. The C-Series or 300 and 400-Series blades require the 81630 or 81640 kit to extend the A-frame. Garry

1 pointGetting in on this late, but from my metallurgical days working in a machine/heat treat shop. That most certainly is a flawed casting. I doubt when it was new that it did not leak. Surprised the original owner did not take it back. Glad you are on the road to getting it fixed. As you know you have got some members on here with some real know how and experience to guide you along.

1 pointYou should be ashamed of yourself. Such a deal! Very nice find! Send me a few hundred and I'll foward to the seller or pickup something for my Horses!

1 pointWhat are the GPM specs on your pump. I have thought about booms for the one I just made.

1 pointI've only had one carb that was really bad this way, and the main result was that I couldn't properly adjust the high and low mixture screws. The carb seemed to adjust its own mixture as the engine ran and I adjusted the throttle lever. I was never able to get a nice even high speed, or a smooth change from low to high engine speeds. I turned it over to a neighbor who used to be a Wheel Horse mechanic, not sure what he did at the time, probably a bushing kit or something similar, and it ran like new after that.

1 pointYou have the pinions installed wrong....1 up and 1 down they have to be opposite all the way around or it will lock the differential.
-
1 pointIf you decide you aren't a 520 kind of guy, let me know! I have a rescue ranch for unwanted 520's, where they run and play in the woods until the end of their days!

1 pointHere's my 854 this is the first tractor restore / rebuild I did this poor tractor had sat in a hedgerow for a long time when I found her after a complete tear down and rebuild last winter I built a stainless steel sickle bar mower for her Brian

1 pointOne of two things are going to happen when you go to lift something of substantial weight. Those two pieces of red angle iron that mount the hitch are gonna bend like a cheap suit with all the torque that will be applied or the front end will lift or flip as the fulcrum is at the axle. I would suggest adding a crank down jack of some type right at the base of the crane to give it some stability. Something along these lines for example:
