Yes I am lucky! Today in the mail I received the very first copy: And the DVD Unfortunately, these are the ONLY pictures I am allowed to post (actually I don't have permission to post the DVD picture, but I didn't think it could hurt.) I haven't begun to read the book, that will come tonight. My reference is the Second Edition which I have have read and have sitting on my shelf. So even though I haven't read the book, here's my initial thoughts. First, WOW, the quality is amazing, no kidding. The pages are heavy paper, fantastic binding, this is a true collectors edition book. Next, the pictures, absolutely beautiful. Crystal clear, fantastic quality and there are a lot of new pictures, that I haven't seen in the second edition. So that's all for now. I will begin to read this tonight and give updates as I go along. I'm also planning on watching the DVD!

Well I finally had time to solder in a couple of diodes in the 310 tonight. My plow horse was charging at 16 VDC all winter long. With the exception of a little "sticky-outy" horseshoe shaped wire at the harness now, I'm charging at a steady 13.5 to 14 VDC regardless of engine RPM. Thanks for all the help from everyone and of course from "SOI". Now I have a tractor and deck that fits inside my fenced in "Dog Droppings Zone". If I miss a "pile" and I push mow, it can get messy!

My neighbor tells her children who then tell me that she is gonna call the cops on me she thinks my C-160 is too loud and I shouldn't be using it. Lol so I now make sure at 9 am sharp on Sundays I fire it up and cut my lawn twice!

From what I have read, use a non-detergent oil. It will allow any particles to sink to the bottom of the pan.

You could also consider making an etank to electrolytically derust stuff. It's very cheap and easy. Lots of threads here and on the internet about it.

This is my 401. This is the one that got me hooked. It came with a front reel mower and a snow plow. I was going to do a full restore on it but I have decided to keep it mostly original. The engine has been rebuilt, the trans has been gone threw, and the rims have been sand blasted and repainted.

Hi Gang, Thanks to Karl, I am going to have the books available on the Red Square Site at the exact time the Wheel Horse Show begins. There will be payment instructions and I will ship them when I return home. That way it is fair to everyone. I will make sure that plenty are set aside for those who can't attend the show. As I said, I want everyone to have one or two. It is my last and best book and there will not be a reprint. I ask that you do not wait to order when you see them posted. Once they're gone, that is it. Hope you enjoy it! Michael Martino

Here are some pictures of my 308-8. I started to take it apart then took pictures. I removed the deck to have a rust hole repaired then found more split metal at the mounting bracket bolt holes. Planning on a light resto just to repair problems and make it a problem free tractor. I have a few parts on order to correct items I found.

Just to crowd your brain more, this puts you less than 3 hours from the big Wheel Horse show near Biglerville, June 22 & 23 this year, pretty much a straight shot down US 15. From my vast experience with Wheel Horse shows (I've been to exactly one, this one last year), I can tell you it's well worth the drive if you have the time. :handgestures-thumbup:

Thanks for the pic which confirms what I'd kind of puzzled out i.e. the friction pad acts against the V in the pulley. I could fit one to the clutch arm (there are the holes for this) but I'll probably use the bracket mine was fitted to on the engine plate. Possibly it was a later mod to the design but certainly factory. I'll try to remember to get a photo tomorrow. Andy

I have indeed included details of the return spring in my latest resto update in the Euro section but I'll include that part here as well as I know only too well how hard it is to find things that you know you've see somewhere on RS. If you look at Coldone's walk around video of that 'D' he acquired with just 200 hours on the clock, and that's probably as close as we'll get to a factory example, in the closing frames of the video there's a glimpse of the spring and how it's fitted. For mine I found what is probably a throttle return spring from something I've dismantled in the past and it does the trick. Andy
