What a great day started at 9am 55rj35jr & I (octfst) met at speedyleedys & off to Mt Vernon for breakfast. then to Hammerheads for visit & some tractor talk. from left to right octfst, speedyleedy, Hammerhead, 55rj35jr some of Hammerheads tractors couldnt help my self bought a wheel horse from Hammerhead for parts for a future project Then off to Mt Gilead to my barn to drop off parts tractor & pickup my B100 I sold to 55rj35jr son who just moved to house where needs to mow. funny thing is a couple years ago I bought this tractor from 55rj35jr. then back to speedyleedys. had to unload a wheel horse I hauled to his house he bought at auction yesterday. when it was time to leave speedyleedy went to move his new tractor & it wouldnt move. so we had to figure it out. turn out to be a broken roll pin in the clutch linkage. got home about 6:30pm. What a great Day. Thanks guys

Spring has finally arrived in the UK (I hope). It was sunny and much warmer yesterday, overcast today but still so much warmer than it has been so it was time to wake the horses up and get them out of the stable for a dust down. Mucked out the stable while they looked on then held a briefing on their various duties for the coming season. I think they took it on board, just have to complete the servicing and get the decks back on to those that mow now. Despite widespread concerns about the ethanol in gas issue, all started and ran fine once the fuel pump had drawn gas to the carb despite the fact that there's no stabiliser in the gas and I never got round to draining the tanks or carb bowls for the winter. Hey Fellas.. i was bored here for a few days a go so ill went out to my shop.. to see if there was anything i could do LOL.. Hmm found some stuff.. then ill got the to make me a wheel horse sign. since i prolly never will find one here in norway. . so here are a few pict of what i did.. used as back side same stuff as they use in light sign (opalwhite cast acrylic) a board I cut slots in to acrylic stickers I had lying around that I put on then it was time to make a frame for it ... mounting the led light is about 240 of them Then it was time to try it and se how it worked.. wow it worked but the horse seems to be black.... well time to try it on the wall.. much better can se the horse head is RED but ill think it is a bit to bright.. well this was a test!! the bottom of the frame is bad so i have to make a new pice to put in there..but it light's up the shop really good..

Marvin had a very weak Eaton 1100. I was sweeping the yard last weekend and when I got half a basket full it would barley get out of it's own way. Changed the Hydro oil to Mobil 1 and added a NAPA 1410 filter and it's 75-80% better. Hooked up the tall salad shooter to test the PTO and all is well so the blower went to the Horse Tack Shack. Then hooked the roller to it which is more weight than the sweeper and did some fancy yard rollin for about an hour. Then went to the yard cart and loaded up the TP turbine and HLVP gun and stained all the fences. I know I'm tired. Not sure about Marvin.

At least people are spending money maybe the economy is picking up, and it's early in the season, people have the fever to get out and buy something

Let me guess. They sold sausages too and someone forgot to factor those in when they bought supplies! I wish it was close enough for me to go. I'd bring a couple dozen buns and we could hang out at the tent all day.

Very cool looking sign!!! If you decide to redo it sometime add.... Lar's Wheel Horse Workshop!!! Then you would really be ready for business!
  9. 2 points
Do you think it was the Mobil 1 or just the fact that you gave it an oil change and new filter?
  10. 2 points
I'm going...don't need to buy anything...don't have anything to sell. Just need to get out of the house for a nice day with excellent people. Maybe this year, I can get to the food tent before all they have left is hotdogs with no buns. Would not you have a bun for every hotdog???

Hey guys here are some pictures of what I have been working on for the past couple weeks. Finally finishing it this weekend so I can get started on a 42 RD. Had the deck blasted and took the spindles apart to grease them since there are no grease fittings. Wire wheeled the mounting assembly and and the pulleys. All parts got a coat of Rustoleum Self Etching Primer and thee coats of Rustoleum Regal Red. Sure did learn a lot restoring my first deck! Underside got new blades and a heavy coat of POR15. I'll get some more pics postes as I finish it up this weekend.

First off, let me say.... I love my C-160 and hold no animosity towards it - just because it came off my loading ramps and fell on me. When I tried to load C-160 by myself, I took "Special Kind Of Stupid" to a new level! I was so excited about having plowed two gardens yesterday morning, (for no $, just great seat time) and was enroute to two of my old school Amish friends, who asked if I would plow their garden plots, and I said sure. They have to borrow a team of four draught horses from a mile down the road. I know both of them very well and was excited to "turn over the ground" ........ they assured me that many wheelbarrows of fresh horse manure had been applied last week. Here comes the stupid - I placed my ramps securely on my trailer and got on my tractor. In the past I have always put the tractor in Low Range and in "creeper gear" so as to be able to stay in control. Yesterday, I left it in High Range and chose my lowest gear and pulled to the end of the ramps. The RPMs were too high, and the gear too high, and when I let out slowly on the clutch, the tractor lurched up the ramps about 2 ft. and then the front lifted straight up and came back over on me. I was able to have the presence of mind to roll the tractor ro my right to hopefully avoid snapping my neck. The tractor ended up (still running) on my left left leg and cut it fairly bad (25+ stitches) and some other contusions and abrasions all over. But all will be ok. Fortunately, two ladies who were driving by and went around the block and come back to my aid. One of the ladies was the wife of where I had just 2 hours prior, plowed their ½ acre garden. As it turned out, they are both RNs and saw blood everywhere and took over. Enough details, BUT- To anyone who even thinks about loading a 750# tractor without help, and then don't use the right gears, and say: - "I done this many times, what can go wrong"? I know many of you are asking yourselves the all important question: - HOW IS THE TRACTOR?? Well, it only has a slightly bent steering wheeling! But other than that ready to plow....... those old C-160s are invincible!! I'm not, but they are! Score: Wheel Horse C-160 - 1 One, 68 yr. old, who did a stupid thing and learned a valuable lesson - 0 Well enough of my pity party and yammering - hope my little episode will be useful to someone.

People who cut the vinyl also have a "semi-transparent" red vinyl that will appear Red. Definitely add the "Lar's Wheel Horse Workshop", maybe in an arc near the top . . . . great idea, I'm going to try to make one too.

It's not a cure for a bad trans, (Mobil 1 that is) but it is dang good oil, in my area it runs about $25 for a 5qt jug, so it's about $8 more than reg oil, not cheap stuff but good oil, I'm a Mobil 1 user and will be forever, just remember it's not a cure all, a good oil and new filter no mater what brand is a good thing.

If its the square bosch style yes, any parts store can hook you up, about 8 bucks Looking at the diagram if its the dark blue wire you are disconnection them the relay is stuck, or its the switch The Lt blue should be hot with switch on, but the tan fron switch will only be hot in start. When the tan is energized the replay pulls in and energizes the Dark Blue. which in turn pulls in another relay to energize the Lt Blue going staight to the starter. You have 2 Bosch Style relays Relay 1 light blue hot with switch on. Relay 2, Purple hot all the time

If you do a lot of Horse hauling, a trailer with a gate is the only way to go. We all like to spend money on more Horses we really don't need but sometimes we need to spend it on stuff to make our hobby safer and more enjoyable.

I use the snake oil and have had nothing but good results. I run it in the cars at least once a year also. Snake oil or not, it works.

Nice start to a nice tractor, but,,,,,I probably would not even look at it where I live, however, the choices are much better in the north.....and prices too. If you are serious.....drive it and see how the auto works.....see if reverse is good also.....ride it a while and keep checking. Reverse will be slower than forward. Try to get a better price. Never know.....more opportunities may come up....better ones. You just started looking.

Duke advised me to use Mobile 1 in my 417-A after purchasing it one year ago. The Mobile 1 worked great in my Hydro all last Summer withoud fading or slipping ever. I'll be running it again this Summer too. Happy to hear your Hydro is working well Mike.

Glad to hear a successful Mobil 1 story. I bought Mobil 1 10W-30 and put it in my GT-1800 and used the Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in my 1075. Stories like this make me feel confident in my transmissions! Thanks squonk!

I think it was the Mobil. The old oil didn't look bad. Mobil 1 has superior anti shear and high heat capabilities compared to standard oil. There's a whole lot a shearing goin on in a hydro.

Thank God there are Angels here amongst us...sounds like, for those good deeds, you were richly rewarded that day. Always amazes me how...when you need it most, the help you are in so in need of, is so close at hand. Glad you're OK.

Glad you are allright. done something similar on a round hood with plow. came off clutch to quick with plow out of ground tractor done wheelie plow took ground and away I went plowing with tractor standing up on rear wheels, thankfully I managed to stay in seat, Got to say one thing for the belt drive it never slipped just kept on plowing. Sad part was it was at plowdays and had a crowd watchin me make a fool of myself.

I myself upset one several years back loading it. Cracked two ribs. Since then I am too scared to ride a tractor up a ramp. I put it in low range, idle it down, and let it walk itself up the ramps. Much safer for me, and I am 61 years old!!

Hi Gang, Thanks to Karl, I am going to have the books available on the Red Square Site at the exact time the Wheel Horse Show begins. There will be payment instructions and I will ship them when I return home. That way it is fair to everyone. I will make sure that plenty are set aside for those who can't attend the show. As I said, I want everyone to have one or two. It is my last and best book and there will not be a reprint. I ask that you do not wait to order when you see them posted. Once they're gone, that is it. Hope you enjoy it! Michael Martino

the best way i found is take a peice of 2x4 drill a 1.5 inch hole in it then cut the board of in middle of the hole then put the flat end of the board againts a wall or tree and the cut end around the wheel were the pin is hold tight againt the board and use a punch with a little hammer will make them come out easy cuase it takes all the deflection out of it and makes it a solid blow on the pin and the pin will punch right in to the wood

I am a user of Seafoam also. The variability of gasoline sold in the U.S. (now by season for emission controls) and with various content of ethanol and other refinery additives seems to be more of a concern today than engine/motor fuel use to be. That said, Saeform is an old product. Used and developed in the 1950's for motor boat motors. I have found Seafoam to be a useful product and much better than Stabil in maintaining quality of the fuel and not gumming up any of the works.

When the term "snake oil" comes up, it's usually from a skeptic or someone who lives in an "ideal" world. I personally am on the Seafoam "pro" band wagon and have been for years. Since I have no control over the manufacture or additives in gasoline, I'm left to fend for myself and control what I can. From my experience, Seafoam adds stability and longevity to the fuel. Every time I get gas for my small engines, it is immediately added to it. I don't have the luxury of time to drain gas or "let it run out" every time I use one of my tractors or generators...one of the downsides to living in the real world. Some of my equipment may set for six months between starts, but NEVER have I had a fuel problem since using Seafoam. I don't just recommend it but encourage the use of it to everyone who has small engines. At this point in time, I don't see the quality of fuel improving at all, but I do know Seafoam adds about 23 months of "shelf life" to the current formula of gasoline. If you never try it, you'll never "know".

If I were to spend big money repowering it with a new motor I would lean towards a honda 20 or 24hp.

Josh, you either have 1/ a shorted ignition coil 2/ an ignition coil which requires an external resistor - and you do not have a resistor attached 3/ you are using a "high performance" coil with a low resistance primary meant only for use in transistor based automotive electronic ignitions any one of the above can fry points due to excessive current draw in the coil primary wiring.
