I got a few of the herd out over the weekend. It's great to see which one's are going to run and which one's won't! All these started up except for the Dozer, which don't run yet. I swept out part of the garage and picked up all of the trash in my yard from the over the winter litter bugs! I thrashed each one of these around the yard to charge up the batteries and blow out the cob webs! KJ

This is my early original 1958 RJ 58. This is my favorite tractor. The K90 runs flawless, It sat all winter and just the other day I pushed it out of the garage and she fired on the first pull. I had to take it for a good long cigar ride thru the trails in the woods after that.

and one gray one...... (one of the red ones is a ring in) was going crazy with no room and much disorganization in my garage of late, so nice day outside, out they all came to make room for a clean up. heres how they looked all lined up..... also since this was the first time id got the c125 out since putting some new shoes on, heres a couple of it....... this tractor drives sweet now with the new tires, nice soft ride, and the steering is nice and easy too..... this one is definitely my favorite at the moment....

Well yesterday was my last day as a Paramedic with the FD I volunteer. Plan to surrender all my firefighting gear and hang it all up for good and let all the kids play. I rolled in bed for weeks now about dropping what had worked so hard to get but the hassle is more than ever. I'll still always have that urge to jump into a wreck and do what I could! Oh forgot to mention started out at $0, got raised to $00 and will get $00 retirement!

A cheap belt is just ' a cheap belt'. There is a reason an OEM belt is $25 to$50 or more and that is quality construction. If you replace it with a $12 automotive belt you deserve the aggravation you get when it lets you down. Saving a few dollars on a belt is not worth it. That goes triple for these newer tractors that can take hours to replace.

I'm not to far behind ya. I hung up the volunteer portion of my career 5 years ago. I have 6 years and 9 months till I can retire. Plan on leaving the job but continue on doing fire investigation in the private sector. I've got a total of 26 years so far between career and volunteer and will have over 31 by the time I hang it up. I know that I have PTSD from all the "bad" calls over the years and I've finally realized it's taking a toll on me mentally. Can't wait for greener pastures!

Here is my 1958 Wheel Horse Model # RJ58 in original condition and has the rare Front Cutter Bar in working condition. This tractor was laying in a junk pile when I first spotted it. I talked to the owner and I asked him about the old WH that was out in the back 40. He said he didn't have any old Wheel Horses back there. So I said I can see one back there on the junk pile. He said by God you are right, there is one way out back. We walked back to look at it and he said he would have to have serious money for that old timer. I asked how much, and he said $75.00!! So I bought it right away! It didn't have the front cutter bar on it but it did have a mower deck. I added the cutter bar for tractor show duty. The little Kohler 4 hp runs like a top and will idle down very low, which is cool! Gotta love these little old ladies! Keith

Here is a poor quality picture of the attachments that come with the 16 horse auto I have been dealing on since last April. They look to be in better shape than the tractor. Once I get it to the shop and see if the tiller is in good working order I will decide what to do with them. I really only need the Blade for fun in the snow. the tractors paint is not good but He says it ran and mowed great when he took it in on trade 2 years ago. It has been sitting in one of his storage sheds ever since.

As always, I agree with Bob. Some of my RJs can sit for a long period (greater than 5 months), I either keep fresh fuel in them when I plan on running them or drain completely for long storage. Just this weekend I started my 57 up.... after a complete drain about 5 months ago, all I had to do to get it started was add fuel and pull the cord two times. Like I always say, keep it simple.

A good friend of mine had one of those once. It was a great grass cutting machine.

I'll enter this one I recently finished. Haven't filled with fluids yet, trying to convince the wife it would be a nice center piece.

I am not going to get on the pro or con bandwagon, but do make sure you have a fuel filter as close to the carb as possible, so it will catch what may or may not be broken loose by the seafoam.

I agree with sorekiwi, the 9 pin connectors and fuse blocks are often an issue. The 9 pin was used on all 520s and the 4 position fuse block was used between 1990 and 1997. I don't recall seeing one on the 1988 abd 89 tractors. What year is yours? Glenn Pettit has designed a cover for the fuse block which I use on all of my five 520s. Your problem may be on the fuse block but it could be elsewhere. Normally fuse block problems are with the 30 amp fuse. What function with the instrument panel is intermitent?

Easiest fix might be to just change the cardboard more often??

To sending PM, also on top or bottom of a lot of wh blades part # stamped in, try a soap stone or chalk to highlite. Some of cast parts have num cast in. Guys on here work wonders with a picture. I tell everyone "you can pic show a nut and they can tell you what tractor it comes from"

duplicolor makes vinyl spray paint, its good for dash boards, seats etc so it should work on a tractor seat, its 2 steps,a cleaner then the paint

Very neat idea, but my batteries are usually dead when I need them the most! I think he will be able to find a replacement spring for the B/S engine.

The flap is exactly 36" wide and 5" tall, a heavy gauge metal, same as the top/front of the tiller. Held on with a 36" long "Continuous Hinge". This other one below has been bent up real bad several times and re-banged out; when I back-up, the flap often gets caught on a tine & stops turning. When I do make a new flap, it will may be just 3" rather than 5", -- or maybe made of a real firm rubber (like the one TSC sells for conveyor belts). Granger has the 3' heavy-duty hinges for about $15, flap is held on with 8 pairs of carr bolts. I do use this dedicated 416 with tiller a lot, Spring, Summer & Fall. Good luck with your rebuild, let us know how it comes out. Glen Always wondered what that little 'L' bracket on the very back is for (no hole in it) ???

If I could have my choice and money wasn't an issue, I'd hop on down to West End Power in Danbury CT. (10 minutes from me) and buy the NOS 420LSE Wheel Horse they have sitting in back, waitin for me. I wouldn't cut grass with it but I'd sure as hell ride it around at the shows smokin cigars and pimp in style.
