2 pointsSeeing as it was a nice day today, SteveBo and I let our Seniors horse around today. We checked out all the subtle differences between the two. His next door neighbor, who was my 7th grade english teacher, also took pics with his good camera (We'll post those pics when he's done with them). I also took comparison shots with his Economy (somebody had asked about it).

2 pointsEverytime I move forward the front wheels bounce off the ground with the tiller attached, so I finally came around to mounting some of the Jinma weights to the front of my 416. I just added a hitch extender from harbor freight and used some 5/8 all thread through the hitch pin and through the hole in the weights. I will weld a 1/2 x 3 inch steel bar on top of the hitch extender to hold the weights, right now I just have a piece of wood temporarily taking most of the weight off the all thread. I can now change the front wheels over to my skinny tri-ribs and not worry about the wheel weights. I will also weld a new set of front spindles with a gusset for more support against bending.

2 pointsI used champion in all my tractors but I got some about 2 years ago that were crap. So I switched to Autolite and have been using them ever since. :twocents-02cents:

2 pointsAfter using the tractor(s) the Grandson asks, "Why do you park the Horses in the barn with the hood open?" "Reminds me to check the oil before I use it again." He gets it now. :-)

2 pointsHey Steve, I'm ashamed to even admit being from minnesota after that last vikings game. Those Bears might lose one once in a while but those vikes???? They just aint got it!!! :banghead: :banghead: Thats why I go for DA BEARS. :handgestures-thumbupright:

2 pointsi was taught to check oil level every day of use,and more if you use the tractor for long periods of use, like snow blowing for several hours

1 pointHello all, my name is Rick Robinson and I have just been bitten by the the Wheel Horse bug!! My father taught my how to mow the lawn in the early 1970s and my very first tractor experience was on a "Wheel Horse". As a 7 year old boy who loved anything that had 4 wheels and a steering wheel this was a thrill. Then in about 1974 my dad traded the old Wheel Horse in on a new Penncraft 8 H.P. tractor from JC Penny. I actuall cried the day the old Wheel Horse left our house on someone else's trailer. I don't remember the year or model tractor we had, but that ol tracter left a lasting impression on me. I am a Corvette & Classic Car Dealer and got a lead on a old Corvette that had been sitting for years that was available. When I drove to the gentleman's home, I couldn't help but notice how neat and well kept the property was. Well, I looked at the car but sitting in the corner was this beautiful Wheel Horse tractor. He told me he bought it new in 1965 and always kept it nice. He updated to a new Wheel Horse in the late 1980s, but couldn't bring himself to sell the old 65. I bought the Corvette and told him if he ever wanted to sell the 65 Please call me. Well, about two weeks ago I got the call! He and his wife sold the house and were going to relocate in Arizona. So I am now the owner of this extremely well kept, original 1965 855. The hood and seat pan and some sheet metal were painted in the early 1990s, but the original motor, tires etc. still remain. I just need a decal set. Oh, I hope someone here can shed light on this, but Jim, the original owner said the wheels on this tractor were silver when he purchased it new, but I have never seen this before as I thought they were always a off white color. So that's my story and I look forward to growing in his new hobby. Thanks in advance. Rick

1 pointWell after experiencing the devastation of hurricane Sandy first hand, many of the people around me including myself were left without power, heat, phone, or internet for over a week. As well as food, gas shortages, and looting problems. However I was much more fortunate than others in my area, we had no downed trees probably because I spent a week during the summer on a JLG man lift cutting and trimming the big oak trees that surround my house. I shared a Generac 7000w generator with my Aunt and Uncle as they live next door and we ran both houses on it. As the days progressed with a gas and generator shortage people around us began stealing. Three generators were stolen a half mile up the street from me. Our was chained to posts in our pole barn, as well as put in a locked shed with a front end loader parked in front of it. A generator up the street from me was chained to a tree, and later stolen when someone cut down the tree to steal the generator. So I decided it was time to take action and begin prepping for whatever other power outage is to come my way. So I decided it was time to get a nice generator that could power my whole house as well being efficient, reliable and the ability to use multiple fuels. So I bought 2 nice kohler generators. A Kohler 7.5C62 that translates to a 7500w 4 cylinder 1800 rpm generator that has an air compressor and heater on it that is made to run 24/7. Shes in a nice steel tube frame and 6 feet long and 2.5 feet wide. We used a 2 ton hoist to get it into the bed of my truck. The pictures are not the best because I picked it up in Virginia on the way home from North Carolina where I spent Thanksgiving. It is set up for gas at the moment but if I buy a regulator and take a plug out of the carb I can run it on natural gas and propane. A so called portable 5000w Kohler Power Pro generator with a K301 engine it is heavy! Yes it is only pull start but starts first pull, and is not that bad to pull. So the damage? Only $650 for two awesome generators. Try buying one new portable for that! Pics: 7.5C62: Kohler Power Pro 5000w

1 pointAnybody see that new series on the travel channel where they follow around the Browns for a week at a time?? Pretty cool seing all the behind the scenes stuff to make an NFL team run. http://www.travelchannel.com/tv-shows/nfl-road-tested-the-cleveland-browns

1 pointThat is funny that you say that Bob. It looks as though somebody bought this belt before and returned it because I can see greasy paw prints on it, I suspect Stevebo!
-
1 pointI just got these 27x12.50-15 skid steer tires on 15x10 rims. The rims just happened to have the perfect backspacing. It's hard to ignore the hideous yellow color of the rims, but that will change soon.

1 pointNeil, if you can not get them to crank, but you want to turn over the engine so it may start...you can pull a running tractor up to one that will not start (face to face) and line up the pulleys that are on the engines. Take a long fan belt and figure 8 it between the two horses...you need to figure 8 the belt so the engine is cranking in the right direction. Place in neutral with the key on and tension the belt enough to turn over the engine. (I can usually just push the two horses apart). This may at least get them started so you can move them. It beats pulling on a rope. How many tractors were in the water?

1 pointnegative!!!! the best one i had i only paid 500.00 for it and it was next to NEW, the other one i had that looked just like that one i paid 100.00 with letters and it looked close to that one. good luck guys and whoever pays that for it stop buy my place, i have lots of stuff i want to sell you.
-
1 pointThanks for confirming that it's still there Steve! I was pretty sure that the deal with RickV fell through. Like you said, i would rather spend that kind of money on a Senior. The 420LSE, even being really cool looking and the fact they only made around 225 of them, is nothing more than blinged out 416. If that's your thing than so be it. I would rather find a clean 300, 400 or 500 series and send the parts out for chrome myself. Would cost a heck of a lot less!
-
1 pointWell now after replacing all said parts the head blows exhaust/oil. I am guessing i screwed up the tension on the head bolts and warped the head. Or some other bone head move which i haven't found that i created. All joking aside I am going to tighten the head bolts again in the order they need. Run it. If that didn't work I will remove head, inspect gasket, and resurface head if it is warped. Using the piece of glass method. Purchase new head gasket. Go to Sunday church. Then restart the motor. It may have a slight ticking which I can live with. What i can't live with is exhaust blowing at me. Note to anyone in the future - don't listen to me for motor repair advise.

1 pointI stay a Packer fan whether they got it or they don't. Been that way for 50 yrs. I do root for the teams that have had it tough for so long like the Browns. Use to really enjoy watching Hank Stram's Chiefs teams in the 60's. and Bum's Oilers teams in the 70's. I go for DA BEARS when they lose. It's like a holiday. not only do you get the pleasure of them loosing, you get the post game show with those 2 knuckleheads. It's a laugh a minute! :)

1 pointFor Those that like pics , here is the tractor in question. From what i understand, this tractor has the rare pressed steel chassis, can anyone tell me anything about it? or i supose i should go ,Straight to the Horses Mouth, and ask Mike himself being that i bought the tractor from him

1 pointI want to go there too Santa! I would love to help out Neil and the other members. Being able to give those guys a hand getting their Wheel Horses running again would be the best Christmas I ever had. Giving someone your "Best" is in the true Spirit of Christmas. Thats what our Creator did when he gave us His Son, so that whoever believes in Him (The Son) shall have everlasting life.
-
1 pointWell, Santa, I must confess, it is hard to be good, but it is good to be..... See what I mean? 63. Seriously...wish list..1..World Peace 2. All Veterans get to come home, and the ones that need help are able to get it. 3. I would go with Maynard to Neil's in the UK and help with his horses. 4. How about some snow 5. How about some high 70's for the big show this year. 6. Rock & Rye 7. ...I'm thinking... thanks :)
-
1 pointWell...I was not going to chime in but...when BOB posted his "wish" I had to reply. I would also like to help NEIL fix his horses. P.S. pleeeeeease bring SNOW to indiana. Thx

1 pointHi Neil, I was hoping that with no updates on your situation may have produced better news. Depending how high the water reached, it may have got into the Stator plates behind the Flywheel as well. First thing to do is see if the engines turn over freely with the Plug removed. Then dry off, clean and check the Points. then see if you have a spark. (were the batteries submerged). How quickly did the floodwater level drop back down?, as I believe it froze soon after the flooding which can also do damage. Persevere with one at a time and let us know it's going. Regards .

1 point:WRS: Thats a great looking you have there. Embrace your new found addiction, the rest of us do! Matt :flags-texas:
-
1 point:woohoo: from another Buckeye ! Trust me if you got the bug one is not enough.
-
1 point:WRS: from another Robinson! Looks like you got the optional HL-5 headlight kit too. The wheels should be 'linen beige' - or an equivalent off-white color. I can't think of any Wheel Horse built prior to 1981 that had silver wheels. :scratchead:

1 pointGo to www.weekendfreedommachines.com and click on the "Registry" tab at the top and you can do a serial number search to get info on your 214, year made, where made, etc. The 214 was part of the line that replaced the venerable 110/112 line. The design dates back to the first JD lawn & garden tractor, the 110, which was introduced in 1963. The 200 series included the 200, 208, 210, 212, 214 and 216. The line debuted in 1975 to replaced the 110 and 112. They are a very heavy duty garden tractor. Attachments included a snow blade, snow blower, tiller, mid or center blade, integral hitch. The 210 is known as having one of the highest weight to hp ratio. They're pretty much bullet proof.
