8 pointsSanta, I've been a good boy this year, but I don't want any toys. I would like you to fly me and my tool box over to the UK so I can help Neil get his horses running again. Bob :occasion-xmas:

7 pointsHi, Wheel Horse fans. Jolly Ole Saint Nick here. I have been very busy getting ready for Christmas this year. Things have been hectic here at the North Pole. Mrs. Claus has been keeping me on my toes with her "Honey Do" list and I have been dealing with worker's issues. I think the elves have been very sadden by the Hostess blight. It's a good thing we have the Keebler elves up here . I fear I would waste away to nothing without their cookies and goodies. Anyways, I have lurking been here on the forum to see who has been naughty or nice. Old Santa has ears everywhere, but it helps to have this forum to keep me abreast on the naughty ones. I also have been trying to gauge what everyone wants. No "Fiscal Cliff" here yet, thank goodness. But even with me keeping up to date with your guys (thanks to Facebook and this site), I still need your guys wish list for Christmas. Keep in mind my reindeer, though they can handle a lot, they're getting older and not as strong as they used to be, so keep your wish list relatively "light", if you know what I mean. Well, got to run, I hear the Keebler elves at the door with my mid day snack. Ho! Ho! Ho! :woohoo:

2 pointsI would like that NEW 420LSE which is just a few miles from me. Maybe you can just move it from one location to another. Also on my list is a grader blade, dump trailer and a non-leaking lift cylinder for my C-160 (I know I should have fixed this already). I want the RedSquare hats to be in so we can get them out the door by Christmas and like always, a cure for Childhood Cancer!

2 pointsWell, Santa, I must confess, it is hard to be good, but it is good to be..... See what I mean? 63. Seriously...wish list..1..World Peace 2. All Veterans get to come home, and the ones that need help are able to get it. 3. I would go with Maynard to Neil's in the UK and help with his horses. 4. How about some snow 5. How about some high 70's for the big show this year. 6. Rock & Rye 7. ...I'm thinking... thanks :)

1 pointI just got these 27x12.50-15 skid steer tires on 15x10 rims. The rims just happened to have the perfect backspacing. It's hard to ignore the hideous yellow color of the rims, but that will change soon.

1 pointRick can you provide any close up pictures of your linear actuator? Where you purchased etc. Did you consider one for the chute rotator? Thanks, Dave Dave, I have attached a pictures of the linear actuator, retracted and extended. I purchased it from progressiveautomations.com. It is their model PA-14-9-15, which is a 9" stroke, 15 lbs force, 1.18"/second. I took a shot when I ordered it getting the 9" stroke, I ended up modifying it myself into a 7" stroke. It has micro switches inside it that turn off the 12VDC motor when it reaches the limit of travel in either direction. I also purchased the stainless mounts for each end (BRK14), and a rocker switch (RC-01) from them. So far it has never frozen up. I spent about $180 total on the project. Now that I know how to do it, I'm sure I could probably shop around and find some surplus hardware to do the job for less. To me, it has been worth the cost, plus I had a good time doing it. I have not motorized the chute rotation, and at this time I don't plan to. I have seen many motorized chute rotation methods, and if I thought I needed it I would do it, but the crank lever comes right into the cab and works well, so I don't know if I want to complicate matters

1 pointGuys and Gals first time around the block driving on this old 1960 Suburban 400. On shifting this thing I noticed my 1927 Chevy with no syncros shifts easier. I parked it and went back in house as work called, but wondered about adding oil to the transmission case. Have not found it yet but I think that sae 90 weight oil is the type to add? As far as seals go I am thinking the side case gaskets and axels must have seals , anything else to think about if I want to change those items, any other leak considerations ? Where to get these? On shifting I assume that starting in neutral on low idle should be able to engage any gear with minor or no grind. When moving is it possible to shift from 1-2-3? Do you just start out in the gear you want? My other WH is full hydro and 1978, these round nose are new to me. Ken

1 pointMaybe our very own first annual cracklefest on Saturday night too. I'm thinking the campers would just love that.

1 pointI moldboard plow nearly every spring with my 310-8, and have had no problems whatsoever. From hard, red clay to whatever else. Rumors persist, but I have never seen any combinations of 8-pinions with 1.00 inch axles, nor any 1.125 axles with 4-pinion. Some say they exist, but you stand a better chance of finding a geniune picture of Sasquatch than one of these. There aren't any published "capabilities" on these trannies, but you have nothing to fear, regardless of pinion count. Even the "weaker" 4-pinion is still a rugged unit, far more so than anything still produced in this size today. Obviously, the 8-pinion with 1.125 axles is the biggest they made- but the smaller versions are still quite hefty.

1 pointGood to see you again Santa. I'll keep it short and sweet.... some decals from our very own Vinylguy (you know which sets, I'm sure) I need some new shop lights a Meglinating Variable Intensity Multifunction Power tool some new shoes. (me and the horses both) I was hoping for a box of Twinkies but it sounds like perhaps your a Keebler fan? (I would have guessed Mrs. Fields first....who knew?) Could always use a roll of shop towels and probably some new air line hoses' oh... and this year, can I have some snow? Safe travels big guy!

1 pointPicked up another snow dozer, 48" on the '85 416-8. 42" mounted on the '88 414-8. I'm resisting setting up the blower, will if she needs it. Blower is ready if needed. Oh gosh, hope not. Gettin' too old for this "stuff" after my boys moved on. Shame each took a Horse with 'em! Got the Mrs. work boots out, all polished, clean work socks, scarf and hat. Warm gloves even! I'll get them set out on the Stallion's seats after I gas 'em up for her. I'll be the standby mechanic in the barn with radio, wood stove, and a can of petroleum distillate if she needs it. I can hand the gas can out the barn door quickly too! (Wouldn't want too much heat going out 'specially if I'm watchin' the NFL). And, now that I'm thinkin', "I don't need a snow cab."

1 pointMost if not all of the 312-8's came through with the 1" axles. Not sure of the pinion count, but the ones I've had open from 312's were four pinion. There's been quite a bit of discussion in the past here about the relative strength of the various transmissions; the bottom line seems to be that any of the 8-speeds will hold up very well if kept maintained and shifted properly. I haven't heard of anyone blowing up a tranny using the normal ground engaging implements as designed. Pulling tractors are subjected to a lot more stress than "regular" machines, and even some of those folks run 1" axles and 4 pinion trannies without problems. They're pretty darned tough units! Duff

1 pointKen...yes 90W oil...fill until it starts to run out the fill plug by the axle on the right side of the trans...should take a little more then a quart. Check out this thread, tells you everything else. I am in Elgin, and am in the process of rebuilding 4 of these...you are welcome to come out and take a look if you want...I see you are in Chicago.

1 pointEngine speed should not be a factor but you must be at a complete stop to shift. Make sure that the transmission input pulley is coming to a complete stop when the clutch is pushed in. If it is not this is your problem... Start by checking your belt guard is installed correctly and has not been altered in any way. There should be a little tab that comes off the top of the guard near the engine pulley. When the clutch is depressed it loosens the belt enough that the belt contacts this tab and the friction keeps it from spinning, Also the belt contacts the bottom of the guard to help with this. Often times these parts have been bent or mutilated especially if someone replaced the engine or used a different sized pulley.

1 pointThank guys, here are a few more pics. Yes TT , Jim had the lights installed before taking deliv. when he purchased it new. He also replace the seat with a newer genuine Wheel Horse seat, so I would really like to find a original seat. I also have ALL the original paperwork and maint. records since day 1, Not pictured is the original mower deck which is in beautiful, near perfect condition. I will be ordering decals from Terry very soon. Thanks again guy's.
