4 pointsOk here is the difference in the big base block and the small base block, there is a exception to the rule and I will show that in the pics. Small base block, these are the engine like the K241AS any big Kohler that has "AS" on the tag means it is the small base block, this is the style block used with the shaker mount engines. This is a small base oil pan This is the big base block oil pan, used on solid mount engines. This is both pans lined up on top of each other, see how the big pan will not bolt in place of the small pan. Small base block with oil pan setting on it, there is no place to bolt the big oil pan to this block. Small base block setting on big base oil pan, again no place to bolt pan up. Here is a exception to the rule, I have seen a few but not many blocks set up to use both style oil pans, this one is a JD 12hp you can see it has the small pan AND the ears to mount to big pan. This is a big base block with a small base oil pan setting on it, see where the block is machined out so the pan will not seal. This is the bottom of a big base block, this one is drilled but not tapped in the 4 corners where a small pan would bolt, most I've seen are not drilled, I guess you could drill and tap the holes or on this one tap them, and find a way to seal the ends of the pan at the block, but with the ears on the block, I'm not sure it will bolt in to the shaker mount with out hitting the mount plate for the shaker style tractor. Ok I said it might not fit, and I just had to know, so I went back out to the barn and mocked up a big base block on a small pan and set it on a shaker plate, 3 of the 4 bolts will fit tight but fit, one of them will not, as the engine moves on the rubber mounts the bolts that holds the plate in place through the rubbers do not move, so the ears on the engine block I'm sure will hit at least one bolt if not 2 of them, one on each side, even more so if the rubber mounts are in bad shape like most are.

2 pointsChris, you oughta be up here in New Hampshire if you want to see political kow-towing going on in all directions and at all levels! It's gotten just plain ree-dik-you-lusss!!!!!! Duff :banghead:

2 pointsHere in Virginia, it used to be a given that the Republican nominee had a lock on the White House, and most times a Democrat would take the governor's mansion. (Congress was mixed.) These days though, we have the "honor" of having become a presidential "battleground" state. For the last couple of weeks, I think that literally half of all commercials are political ads. And with VERY few exceptions, all of them (from both sides) are the politics of fear, blame, distortion, hate, and occasionally, fabrication. Not only that, but my phone probably rings 12 times a day with recorded political messages or "opinion polls". I've stopped answering my phone if I don't recognize the number on the caller ID. Ohio and Florida, I don't know how you do it year after year after year.... Thank God there's only a few hours left...

2 pointsI have to say one thing here. I put on the uniform in the Navy for 4 years to fight for our Freedom and the Right To Vote. I can not believe that we are having to fight for the Right To Vote in this country. What is happening in Florida and Ohio and a few other places, just makes me sick and ashamed that it can happen here. I hope the people that have to stand in line for hours to exercise their Right To Vote remember what they went through when these guys run for re-election. :USA: Vote Tomorrow...take a lawn chair and a cooler. :bow-blue:

2 pointsgreat story 6wheeler! I have been slowly working this machine as time allows. Everything was seized up, and i really do mean every thing! I have since broke free the spindles and axle center pivot, re greased and installed those. I cleaned up the reduction steering and was able to break free the 2 piece steering shaft. That has all been cleaned up and re assembled. The steering is now fully functional. Unfortunately the front wheels and tires have seen better days. i really like the original tires but they are splitting apart at the ribs. the hubs were also drilled out at sometime for a 3/4" axle (or that seems to be what happened) so my plan is to just get new front wheels and tires. harbor freight has some pneumatic "saw tooth" tires with bearings for $8 a piece. these use the 5/8" spindle size and should bolt right on. The rear tires are actually in great shape but i can across the opportunity to buy some 4x8.00 AG tires for less than $20 with wheels so i will machine a set of hubs at work to bolt those on to the rear to make it a "real" garden tractor. The engine that was on it does turn over and i did get spark but the tank was completely trashed and the carb was in pretty rough shape too. i was lucky enough to fine the exact same engine on CL for $20 that was in MUCH better shape so i know have that home. The previous owner said if i didn't want the engine he would give me $20 back if i return it to him. So that will work out perfectly. I decided to split the transmission apart this past weekend and found out it was full of water. Luckily it was also caked full of old grease so there wasn't any rust issues. i was able to scrape most of the great out and free up the input shaft (it spun but was very stiff) i plan to pour some 90 weight gear oil in it once i get everything running. I also had to pull the rear axle as one of the rear bearing carriers was shot. I am in the process of trying to get the rear wheels off the axle and then remove the one bad bearing and try and find a replacement for it So all that said, progress is being made and if i can get the new motor running good, i could probably have a moving machine by the end of the week!

1 pointthe problem is when it gets warm and melts some of the snow and then gets cold again ice is formed and then it doesnt matter what rubber tire you are using, there gonna spin, and if you are trying to push a foot of snow it doesnt happen, chains are a must where i live

1 pointPicked this one up with two decks, snowblower and chains. Been trying not to buy anything before winter but needed one to mount the sicklebar on for spring. PO blew the head gasket and I think the valves need doing. Shoots flames out the exhaust and turns it cherry red. Someones been at it though thought Chargers (numbers say 1969 Charger) only were manual lift ? This one has hyd lift and manual clutch

1 pointWe use ag tires for plowing, have found that with chains, sometimes they just wind up tearing up the driveway or leave marks. the ags witht hat much weight should be fine as long as you are not going up a steep slope or get several feet of snow at a time

1 pointNice find, Jim and I have our eye out for one, the closest we came is a flag,...lol

1 pointThis is probably one of the best modern and catchy arrangements of the Anthem that I have ever heard, done very well and very respectful. And this is probably the best traditional I have ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz6XWStZV48&feature=related

1 pointI know that squonk.. but that is what the list says. Nothing to be sorry about. Just want to let everyone know that if they go to a store and they are out of say a 458 they can ask for a 216. I actually had people insist on a certain plug and if we were out wouldn't hear of using another plug. They would stomp out of the store mumbling. They didn't want to believe me. I don't know why plug companies have to build tall and shorties anyway. Just adds to confusion.
-
1 pointI think this plug would work if you drilled a hole in the piston, just make sure its centered

1 pointSteve, The out of town crews that come into Maryland do a much better job of restoration than the local crews. The coffee is on .

1 pointBeing retired and not much to do out side, I look at my hitch and desided to make a a few changes. Here I cut off the braces and cleaned up the area. Then I welded it back together, and added some paint. While I was taking things a part I got a few more. I added another piece of steel welded them up and shot a little paint on them. This is what I ended up with. I could have put the other hitch on if I had a couple more hands and a lot of patience, but having neither I left it off.
