4 pointsWith the three point working the time had come again to get the ol girl out the shack and give her a run.. Partly to stretch the chains a bit more, but mostly just for the fun of it Wishful thinking Back in the shack with lot's of mud adding extra ballast! These quickly cobbled up bracket thingys stop the chain guide/tensioners from moving.. Which was getting a bit of a pain... I'm hoping that when the chains have finished stretching I won't need any tensioners to guide things... We shall see. The next day after brushing loads of dried up mud off the beast, I tackled one of "those" sort of jobs.. But it had to be done!! Yep, I tidied the bench again! The reason for the bench tidy (besides not having any space left on it and not being able to find any tools buried in the mess) is I needed a big clear space for working out a bit of bodywork.. I started by looking at the foot board/tread plate, it will need a little trim to narrow it a bit... But the rear bit that slopes up needs lengthening and the angle changed to something a bit more laid back.. To work that out meant taking a look at how the the fenders are going to work.. The start of lot's of careful measuring and marking.. Chopped!! Also chopped.. So lets have a look.. I quite like the widened look, it sort of gives it a "next size up" kinda feel.. It also puts the edge of the fenders where they should be.. About half way over the tire. And with a seat. The problem I have now which is quite a challenge is working out how to stretch the fenders so they cover all three wheels on each side without loosing that "Wheel Horse feel"!! For your viewing pleasure here's part 41 of the build videos.. No building going on, just lot's of driving

3 pointsI got the tank on the engine, and I got the decals for it as well. I'm just waiting on my 3/16 copper tubing to make the fuel line out of. I'm tempted to steal the fuel line off one of my other N's, just so I can hear it run! I'm not the patient type. As soon as I have it running, I'll post a video. Here are a few pics of its current state. Matt :flags-texas:

2 pointsHey Bob, Thats got to be an older picture of me, I lost those bottom teeth on Halloween Day trying to eat a caramel apple. I guess I still don't look to bad, Thanks, Tim

2 pointsWell, I've had it. Weeden sucks, and Shurmer is an idiot. They are getting even more creative in finding ways to LOSE. But I'm gettin even with em. I made sure none of the Browns will be able to get in their houses tonight. I painted goal lines across their driveways. :ROTF:

2 pointsYa, I saw the Notre Dame score this morning and saw that they won in 3 OTs. Amazing. I edited my statement in that post. I still suck in picking the games this year. I am finding myself not looking forward to Saturdays...can't believe I said that. :) Looks like the war of 2012 above here. Here is my favorite useless fact...only 3 more weeks to this years season. :woohoo:

2 pointsI used to change decks on my tractor to the rear discharge deck and use a lawn sweeper to remove leaves. However I have over 2 acres of tree covered land and this would take me several hours. Even worse I would have to keep up with them otherwise if there were too many leaves this process would be almost impossible. So a couple weeks ago I whipped up this little leaf removal contrapction..........I call it the " LEAF SUCKER 2012".......Here are a couple pics Slight muffler modification Old window screen for ventilation High tech locking mechanism The only thing I would change on this setup (and I will for next years leaf season) is to mount the motor directly to the tractor somehow. This would allow for a shorter hose from the deck and the discharge hose would not pivot that much. I can do my whole yard in about 6 loads. I have far less money in this setup than it would have cost me to buy one from the big box stores( $350 verses $1400 and up) Plus I have the satisfaction of knowing I built it myself!!!!!

1 pointSo you want to put on some AG tires??...I would suggest you see if the rear wheels will come off the axles FIRST...they are usually rusted so bad you will destroy the rim even if you disassemble the tranny and put the axle in a press... I once owned a verticle shaft Wheel Horse.(B-111)...and don't plan to own any more even if they are free!

1 pointWoW yer right it still said you had 3 and 59. So I went to photobucket and it showed the 4 and 60 So I then edited my post 3 times and deleted the picture and re-uploaded the correct picture w/4 and the 60, and then it kept showing 3 and 59. WTF So I renamed the picture Week 10.1 instead of Week 10 and reuploaded with the 10.1 and now it works. The only thing I can figure it didnt delete it or something and flipped out when it seen the same file name being uploaded. Damn photo bucket anyways must have GRIMLINS. And Gee Erik here I thought we were best Bud's!!! Oh woe is me. Heck now I wont even be able to sleep tonight! ~Duke

1 pointDoes appear to be in decent shape. And yes, nice to have the original manuals. I purchased a Raider 12, $300. Came with original owners manual, original Kohler manual, and the deck manual. Engine smokes a little but, runs fine. $300 tops if you really need it. Myself no interest in vertical engines.

1 pointThis is what I built. It dumps, folds up flat for storage and is a good way to use up all those dog cages on Craigs List. It also can be adapted to most any mower, that has a bagger system. --- John

1 pointI am totally in love with that little Briggs engine, Matt. You did a fantastic job on the restoration of it. I am veryvery impressed with your work. :bow-blue:
-
1 pointWell that's odd. I see ya fixed that I had 4 right, but when I look at the sheet I see 59 for me, not 60. :coffee:

1 pointWell, there you go again, citing more useless factroids. I understand all too well about the violations, more yesterday's news. You sure do like living in the past. Especially when your present doesn't look too bright. I don't need the NCAA to explain it to me. Of course, you're right about the violations, but then you should be an expert on the subject. I seem to recall some Michigan basketball problems in years past. But, that's yesterday's news. No need for further comment from me. It was what it was. I like living in the present, with an eye to the future. The sanctions will be gone soon, and life will go on. Then we can all concentrate on the actual playing of the game instead of a history lesson from the guy with the most useless information and the biggest mouth. I stumbled on this picture of the Wolverine Quartet, I think I know which one is you! Yep, now we are havin fun! And ya still need to fix the spreadsheet. I have 60 picks right.
-
1 point:text-thankyouyellow: Jim for the correction on da sheet! And well as you said you dont understand. Let me explain...... A 6-3 team With -0- NCAA Violation trumps a 10-0 Team with 12 of them every time. <<< Pending from a May 2012 Article... And since you dont understand that, then you may want to write a letter to the NCAA and ask them why a 10-0 team that isnt ranked, and other teams with more losses are, maybe they can give you some useless factroids and explanation. are we having fun yet? Well anyways I'd like to sit here and chat more, but I hafta go out in the garage and get some Tig Welding done and fark something up! Cheers ~Duke

NEBRASKA AT MICHIGAN ST.......NEBRASKA ILLINOIS AT oHiO..........................oHiO PENN ST. AT PURDUE..................PENN ST. GO BLUE ~Duke The Little Brown Jug has been tucked away in Schembechler Hall since Michigan claimed a 28-14 victory in Minneapolis in 2006. Wolverines have won 52 of the last 63 games in the series, including 36 of the last 39 and 20 of the last 21. After not playing in 2009 and 2010, U-M blanked the Gophers, 58-0, on Oct. 1, 2011, at Michigan Stadium, the first Wolverine shutout win in the series since 1976. 1 pointThis is true...happened today. Had to take my Mom for a cumadin check at the hospital and I told her I had a little running around to do after her test....soooo You might be a Wheel Horse addict if you take your Mom for a ride in the morning and you go to Motion Industries, then you stop at your favorite NAPA dealer, then you stop at your TORO dealer, then you stop at you friendly ACE Hardware and then you take her home...and she said she enjoyed being out of the house. How cool is that???

1 point74 C-120. Put this one at the bottom of the pile, as I had my '72' Raider 12 feature in the 2011 Calender. This one is nearly finished

1 pointHad loads of 'Fiddley Bits' to make over the last week or so and have been sheltering in the 'Ole Worke Shoppe'. I said I had some goodies arrive, they are in the form of Lift Cables and other bits- 7 x 7 strand Stainless Steel Cables and Swaged Clevis Forks/Pins. SWL of 158kgs ( 348lbs). Plenty for what I need. Stainless Cable Eyes and Clamps for the Lever end should hopefully have the same load limits. I used Thick Walled copper tube for the Conduit in the end. Made up 2 matched Clevis plates and pins, both in High grade Steel and reamed the Lever's Cable hole out to 5/16"- A job that I left sometime back was the Light Lense. Well It cleaned up ok and the Weld Spatter damage has been filled and blended out. I have to say though, that all of my efforts to lose the Crack lines have failed. I just cannot get anything to fill them invisibly (even vacuum drawing the fluids in). So the Old War Scar will stay. The lense has been fixed on with the correct size 6-32 but used Stainless Button Head Screws- While I was playing with the H.G Steel Gauge Plate, I machined up the parts for the PTO Clevis and Silver Soldered them together (you can't see the join). The Pin is slightly Softer Steel, so it will wear first. The Roll Pin is not the Spirol type, so I made up a hard Pin to go inside it with a slight interference fit so the Clevis will still pivot on the Roll Pin- I found that both Lever Knobs had cracks where they push on to the Levers, and not wanting to start searching the Web for more, I decided to repair them. They were glued and clamped to seal the cracks and I made collars out of 0.014" Nickel Silver Strip. As it was annealed to 1/4 hardness, it was easy to shape them to a close fit and Silver Soldered to form a band. Slower Cooling made the Nickel 1/2 hard, but still soft enough to shape itself round the neck of the Knobs. A quick clean up and I pressed the Collars on in the Smooth Jawed Vice......job done... I still have to make a modified Trunnion for the PTO and a few other bits, but It's more or less there. So ! , with the Absence of a Yet-to-Come Vid. , here's an Autumnal shot of it under the Apple Tree for now (sorry about the image quality).

1 pointI'd been trying to find a gas tank for this engine, since it didn't have one when I got it. I bid on several on , but they always end up going for around $50-$100 , and I only paid $30 for the engine! I had a correct gas tank for it in my spare parts bin, but it was in very rough shape. Anyway, I decided it was time to try, and fix it. So I heated it up at the seem to melt the solder, and using a couple oil filter strap wrenches I opened it up. This allowed me to clean out the rust, and remove the large dent/crease out of it. I then soldered it back together, and leak checked it. All was well. So, I used a little bondo, just to smooth out where I removed the dents. I did manage to get it painted today, but I don't have pics of that yet. The first pic is of the engine I got this tank on. I put a better tank on that engine rather than fix this one, but I had no choice this time, other than to fix this tank. I'm glad I did it, as it was easier than I expected it to be.
