I got busy on the 520 Snow Chucker today and finished the windshield washer pump and tank. After finishing that I switched over to working on the font wheel weights that are around 75 lbs each and finishing them off with the Custom Wheel Hub Caps with Decals Made My Vinyl Guy. (Thanks Terry!!!) Then take a Ride in the 520-SC Snow Chucker with me. Cheers ~Duke The Bottle of WW fluid was just barely warm after a 15 minute warm up and tractor ride. I went over the face of the weights with a belt sander and then painted. The 4x4 was about the correct height a 2X6 kept the weight upright. Used a SS Nut and Blue Locktite No room for a washer. The Custom Decals made by Terry were applied over powder coated SS Disc's after complete they were mounted to the Lead Weights by way of (4) #8 1" SS Screws with a washer. The red grease was used to lubricate the screw to the washer as not to twist the decal. Take a Ride In The 520 Snow Chucker

Alright guys. I have no painting skills, no welding skills and no fabrication skills. I love seeing posts of guys who have brought a rusty hulk back to showroom shape but never have one to show myself so.... lets post up some pics of yer rusty, cobbled up, homemade, mis-matched but loved machines! Lets keep this for machines that are still in service. This is a chance for us rusty tractor owners to show off our junk and brag!! Here's mine. Its started out life back in 1966 as a 656. It ended up at my neighbors house and when I showed an interest in a short frame tractor he gave it to me. It was missing a motor, belt guard and a few other items. It sat outside uncovered for almost three years before it was moved to the garage for an inspection. I started out thinking I would restore it and did slap some paint on it but without those skills I mentioned in the beginning of this post it was gonna look crappy so.....it got a 5hp Honda yank start with a 3" drive pulley for just a bit more speed. The original tires/rims it came with were the skinny ones which were swapped out for 16x6.50x8's up front and 23x10.5x12's on the rear. The rears came off a GT-1800 so they are the nice deep rims and the rear thread is nice and flat. The aluminum light weight Honda doesn't help keep the front end down so 2 cast iron pipe flanges are bolted into each front rim. There's a trail in the woods behind my house that's about a mile long and I take the dog out on it almost everyday and probably 3 or those trips each week are done on this tractor. The Honda starts easy, sips fuel and if its idling I can hold a conversation on my cell phone. This winter she'll get rear weights and chains so I can still do the trail in the snow. Mike............

I looked for a while to find the proper aux gas tank set up for the 520 but could not come across one so... I had this tank laying around so I fabricated a stand out of some 1/8 angle iron and hung it on the back. The tank came with an Economy parts tractor and had several coats of paint on it. I did not want to go crazy painting it with the IR Red because then I would have needed to do bodywork on it. Gave it a quick hand sanding then painted it with semi gloss black and a brush. I just need to buy a 1/8 barbed nipple and connect the fuel line and add gas. Now I do not have to fill up every time i mow the grass with this thirsty Onan 20hp !!

Brought the second Lawn Ranger home last week. Changed oil and drained old gas and refilled with new,non-ethonal, treated with Sta-bil gasoline. The ranger fired on second pull, ran on third pull. Drove it around the yard and discovered that it runs really nice and has lots of power. Runs nicer than the first ranger. Only negitive is the trans seems like it whines a little and grinds /clunks a little when I shift into 3rd gear. That infamous 3rd gear haunts me again. oh-well, sounds like another trans rebuild. The paint/sheet metal condition also looks alot like the first Ranger. My first plan next spring is to find a couple of nice lawn ranger seat covers for them both and paint the rims in powder coat and maybe new tires. I'll see if and where I can find some somewhere. . otherwise for now keep them looking pretty much original. here is a couple pics. Thanks for looking.

I purchased my first Wheel Horse(first tractor too!!); a 1994 Toro/WheelHorse 264-6. The Kohler motor doesn't run, but it came with all kinds of attachments. I was told that the motor ran last fall and stored in a shed. He rebuilt the carb and installed new fuel lines this spring; but when he replaced the fuel pump, he stripped one of the threads and it woobles.. He says that the ethynol in the new gasolines destroys everything. Someone told me that premium gas doesnt contain ethynol. True? ps: I love this site!!!

this week after work i leveled a large dirt pile & filled a low area in the back yard. i used the i beam drag to do the final leveling. so this morning i got out the 72 bronco 14 & hooked up the gang of aireators & punched holes then broadcast fescue seed & aireatored some more , hope it germinates . after that job was done i needed to tackle the leaf problem. i haven't had time to change over to the rear discharge decks so the 518 choped leaves & blew them into a row & i tried different tractors on one of the sweepers. first up was the c161 8 speed, it did well but the clevis hitch made it imposible to back up the sweeper. next upwas the 310-8 but it also has a sleve hitch so it has the same problem. so after dark i built a hitch extension so sweeper & cart pulling will be easy with this horse. last weekend i tried the commando 8 with reardischarge deck & it did wonderfull. but the best tractor for the sweeper is the commando 800 with big boy shoes. it's fast, turns quick & sips gas. i have the rear discharge deck that came with this tractor & after rebuilding it will be the perfect sweeper tractor. but with the high winds coming with huricane sandy i was fighting a loosing battle so next sunday i'll try again but most of the leaves will have fallen hopefully Jay

Hi Guys, This weather has me stuck inside to work on little stuff. I was looking at my 1277 which as sat outside from July until now and it didn't show any signs of weathering but with the 11" of rain I didn't want it to get drenched. I also am putting on Fun Engineer's seat cover soon so I wanted something a little nicer for the cover. Paint was put on the 1277 hood 3 years ago and is just Valspar rattle can. Here's what it looked like on completion. This is 800 grit on a 702 shield. A quick scuffing shows the orange peel: Applied Mother's aluminum wheel cleaner with a paper towel. It has cleaning agents in it so its great to remove dirt and oxidation: Wiped off: You can see how the light does not reflect across the unpolished part: Here's the hood the day I painted it. Not much gloss: The 1277's current finish. As you can see it hasn't changed even with being outside and used every week for mowing, snow plowing or hauling brush. I have to mow under pine trees so the hood gets scuffed up pretty easily. Hood after a quick rub down with basically a bath washcloth and compound: After 800 grit: After 1000 grit: The 1000 grit result was achieved by: 1: wiping any dust/dirt/grime off 2: dry sanding with 800 grit 3: dry sanding with 1000 grit 4: rub down with compound and "washcloth" 5: gentle rub down with a softer "washcloth" 6: glass cleaner and a soft cloth 7: mother's back to black light rub down with soft cloth 8: glass cleaner and soft cloth. This process only took a total of 30 mins on the hood. A couple of tips I find useful is to change the circular sanding motion between counterclockwise and clockwise. If you feel paint "rolling" it is a sign of too much friction and pressure. When using the polish and back to black with a soft cloth continue to change up your circular rotation. This helps to prevent putting an edge on the paint (usually identified by circular scratch-like marks. Edging is extremely noticeable on metallics which is why metallics are usually base coat / clear coat. Metallics when sanded will "pull" and create an uneven finish. Sanding directly on a metallic is never done because of this. Instead, clear coat is applied and then that gives a good polishing base. I do not intend to clear coat this hood. I don't really see it necessary. Rattle can clears never hold up and will fade quickly. Charlie

Well, the idea was to DRIVE the Electro and A-81 out for the photo, but no... That was the B-80's job! Oh well... It's about time I rebuilt that Electro, maybe this winter.

The Bores were given that game by $cam Newton. I could have completed that pass that Jennings took to the house. How do you throw a pass to a wide open receiver that is 15 yards away from you 15 feet over his head? UNBELIEVABLE!! And as far as the other "high school" team , if the Bores had a QB as tough as Blaine Gabbard they may have went to the Super Bowl 2 years ago THE BEARS BLOW!!!

hey guys, my dad had this rj come in the lot with the pulleys switched on it. We couldn't resist not driving it like that to see how fast it is. I would say it goes at least 25 maybe a little faster. We probably won't keep it like this so we don't ruin the trans, but it sure is fun! Here's a couple of pictures and a video. ~Jake http://s1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee470/jakekuhn/?action=view&current=DSCN0521.mp4

Taylor, How much a tractor is worth is very dependent on many things. The 753 would be a nice one to own for sure. However, never value anything on what it "could" be. It is what it is! The tractor is a " non runner" and that makes it worth less than if it runs. Value also varies on location.

If god wants them moved? He can do it. Otherwise, they are stayin" where they are til spring when I mow next. We had snow yesterday. It all melted, but it made me think. Leaves and grass are done. Plowing the gardens on saturday and then only thinking about snow removal and keeping Anheuser-Busch employees busy.

Wow I'm missing out, we don't have cable or satellite TV, we still have a old fashioned ant on the roof, no X box or PS3 we watch TV but only a few hours here and there, the kids find other things to do, but what we do watch is CSI, Survivor, and a few funny sitcoms.

I've had a few, and still have a bunch of rusty ones, here is some I have redid in the past few years. Not real rusty but beat bad and drilled full of holes broken rod in engine, here it had a brush paint job over the rust, I paid $25 for it. And how it looks now Another we fixed up this one is very rusty, we changed the frame it was almost rusted in half, motor seized tight, another $25 buy and how it looks today this is a rattle can job, but everything was redone mechanically on it. and now The last was this one, it was a parts tractor, but my daughter liked it so we redid it. and now

Great thread and neat tractor, Mike. It's alot of fun and it takes alot of time and patience to bring them back to where you want them. Here's two of mine that were brought back to life, one for show and one for work. The Suburban 550 when I brought it home After alot of hard work 753 i bought on e-bay for the motor Didn't have the heart to scrap it, so I pieced it together to make it a 753/854 worker

Okay Mike, here's mine. Started out with this...the remains of a B-80 and a C-160... Ended up with this. A cobbled together B-100 8-Speed. Now I know it's not a rusty pile of junk anymore, but it started that way. But my daily worker is this...
