3 pointsVery nice work LARS! You have accomplished something we all learned from and you have given a lesson for others to follow in preserving these little Red Tractors! Thank you for your work and patience in posting all this tremedous activity on this Wheel Horse Suburban for all of us to share in.

2 pointsBefore I went back I would go down to the Town Hall and see if the state "owns" that land or just has a right of way (usually the case). Utility companies, railroads, states and municipalities all have "right of ways" onto most privately held land but the land is owned by the deed holder. Local and state laws vary and cover uses and exceptions but in New York State the landowner would generally be considered the owner and it is within his right to claim spoils left by tree trimming, etc. and removal, particularly after being told not to remove the material would be a criminal act, not a civil matter. Do you really need a criminal record for a few bucks worth of firewood ? (We have had that happen locally - it is not just a "possibility").

2 pointsLeave it. Not worth the hassle. Or find the driveway and knock on the door and see if it's the same person and ask if you can have it.

1 pointI owned this tractor 5 years ago and I finally got it back. As far as i can tell and from what i have been told it has the factory electric start which was a uncommon option on the 401.

1 pointI'd stick it on Craigslist and say you can see Jesus image on the bore wall when viewed in the correct light and ask $800 (no disrespect )

1 pointI'm 46 and there is days I think my back is broke, or at least feels like it.

1 pointDon't ever apologize for posting pictures Lars! You know we love to see them and you should be very proud of how that came out. I know it seemed like forever until you finally received it but now you are about ready to sit back and enjoy all of your hard work and patience. You did the Wheel Horse community proud with that one!

1 pointOkay so far I have ran the shop vac on and off for 2 days ( more like a day and a half as I was gone most of the first day ) and the first day I got about as many as in the photo above..the second day pretty close to the same amount. It was supposed to rain the next day ( which it didn't until late in the day ) so i put the shop vac up. I noticed that the activity in the area is way down of bees but there is still some..I may hook it up again later today or tomorrow and maybe I will finish painting that part of the house. They get aggrvated when I paint..thinking maybe the roller vibrates the wall? Maybe I should set up the vac and bang on the wall to get them mad and when they come to get me they will be sucked into the vac, LOL Thanks for the great idea.. Oh by the way we caught 2 of them in the bee trap the wife bought LOL Kevin

1 pointThis is sound advice. Just a little courtesy can go a long way in a situation like this. Just because you think its "free" wood doesn't mean it's yours. Maybe the guy asked the road crew to leave it for him.... that is, if he even was the landowner of the other side of the stone wall..... could have just been another guy who picks cuts off that road.

1 pointI've soaked them for weeks and used heat several times, all to no avail. It's just a really tight area to work in and you really can get any leverage to hold the shaft. I've had to cut out several on tractors I was fixing to sell. If it was mine, It would stay that way until I rounded up the parts and had time and enough ambition to fix it. Unless it has been this way for years with a LOT of use, it's not gonna wear out any time soon like it is.

1 pointMatt, I understand what you are saying/thinking, but around here if you are doing that and asked to stop, "Big Bubba" may not be able to help if you were to return. Even though in your mind it may be "Free" wood,....A land owner that has been paying taxes for years on that wood may have a different out-look. As you said, he did not cut it down or put a free for taking sign up? He may burn wood and just not have had time to clean it up yet? IMO, I would ask the true land owner and go from there, as there are plenty of them out there that will welcome you to take their cut down/fallen trees.

1 pointThe parts drying rack is you see is my wifes contribution to the cause Jake...our little secret OK?
-
1 pointThanks Matt! I agree with you on that. I could look at that front end picture all day!! Lol...Looks like a nice snug fit under the hood, what a monster! I think the Mopar rearend in these old Panzers are strong enough to handle the Mini Elephant Motor. I'll probably have a long shifter knob that sticks way up in the air or a Hurst shifter from one of my hotrods back in the day. Also want some wheelie bars, aluminum gas tank up front like the old gassers had and a wind up handle on the rearend like the old fuelie cars had in the 1960's. Cool beans for now..KJ

1 pointgot the decals from terry today. thanks terry, they turned out very nice. changed a color or two around a little to more suit my taste, the white in the large decals was done linen beige, the engine decals which are normally red and white on the red engines, i wanted done in black and silver for my black engine. i still need to make up a template for the front hood decal. this has a large logo decal with the border around it being a 1980, i think 1981s were the same..... ( i havent forgotten about you, jachady, terry and i should be working on the hood decal early in september) anyway heres the pics of it all done, other than the foot pads on the running boards and a few little things that arent right yet...... maybe a vid of me riding a little, might be a little while uploading though, the bandwidth sucks on friday nights...... all these pics can go big if you want to see all the detail rough bits....... i think its now time to put it to work and get it dirty...... :woohoo:
