I did the same with my commando 8 this week. I cleaned it, degreased it and rubbed it with LINSEEDOIL. It's made from seeds/pits from the tree and is often used to put on wood. It is also used over here by tractor collectors to keep your tractor the original color but keep it protected from rust. It makes the rust look darker and makes the paint shine really nice. It gives a patina to it. I'll post pics when I'm ready with the commando 8. P-J

Jim, let us know what model tractor / engine we are working with. In general, coil based ignition systems can be broken down to the simple diagram below. Make sure the coil is oriented properly - the (+) terminal on the coil should always have 12 volts present when the ignition key is in START or RUN position . The (-) terminal of the ignition coil should be wired to the points and also the condenser is attached to the (-) terminal of the ignition coil. If you have 12 volts at the (+) coil terminal, place a test light on the (-) coil terminal and crank the engine. The test light should flash as the points open and close. If the test light fails to flash, the points may need to be cleaned, adjusted or replaced.

I think if it starts when u have a jumper from + post to + post on coil its the low oil pressure sensor. That's what I read in manual.
