2 pointsI read on another forum how to "rejuvenate" a dead battery. Now I am no battery expert or chemist, so I cannot tell you how or why this works, but it did for me. To test the process I used a 900cca battery that had been sitting on a shelf, outside of my garage for well over 2 years. You dissolve a couple of teaspoons of Epsom salt into distilled water by heating the water Then you replace some of the electrolyte with the saline solution and slowly recharge the battery. Now what I actually did is use my miniature distillery,AKA coffee pot! I put a few teaspoons of epsom salt in the pot then turned it on and brewed up a distilled saline solution. The battery had sat long enough about an inch of each cell was low. Poured it in and charged the battery overnight. It worked!!!! This battery cost about $100 new and is now holding a charge again. Since my b100 has a charging issue, I have been using this battery to jump it for about a week now and it still cranking it like nothing. I don't know how long it will last, but as of now it is working!

2 pointsAwesome deal!! I'm not a big fan of Teckys, but on an original like that you need to fix the original engine for sure! Matt :flags-texas:

1 pointHas anybody got the number off the sundstrand tag on the pump? I have a great hydraulic remanufacturer up the road, they said they would be glad to see if they could get parts for the hydros. I have the motor tag number and will see what they can do with that.

1 pointI have just about got this Work Horse ready to go. I'm just waiting for some new decals and have to paint the wheels.(hate doing those). I bought this and it looked like others I've seen with the brown all over it,wouldn't start and had three flat tires. PO said the guy he got it from had let it sit outside for it's whole life. Anyway here are some before and after pictures. Enjoy! Just added new pictures with the new decals.

1 pointI just picked up my first round hood!! It's an all original 1962 502!! The story on the tractor is a guy in the thumb of Michigan bought it brand new and he soon gave it to his brother. The brother kept the 502 in his barn for 25 years. Then the brother decided to sell the tractor to the guy I bought it from. The guy I bought it from planned on using it for a parts tractor for his 854. It has a nice 42 inch Wheel Horse plow on it that has all the parts and is in great shape! The 5 horse power Tecumseh does have great compression, I also got a 5.5 Honda motor(not a clone) in on the deal. So I may try to get the original running or put the Honda in it. The only thing that's not original is the rear rims and tires. I paid $250 for it $5 for delivery. Did I do ok? What is it worth? I may even buy a bathtub trailer from it's original owner. Sorry to bore you with the story, Here are the pictures!! Where are the ID tags on this? Thanks!

1 pointSome bean counter must have decided that if they shaved an inch off every tire it would save em a 50 cents per tire and the public would never be the wiser (but the secrets out now!). Probably got himself a nice promotion and a plaque for his office wall. Mike...........

1 pointDid anyone see Marty and his Delorean today? Today is the date he went to the future, in the movie Back to the future.

1 pointYa know, some of tire sellers and tire manufacturers must think they're dealing with a bunch of morons.Like no one is going to notice any difference in the tire size and quality. The Squaw even noticed they looked crappy. The business's that pull this inferior crap deserve to go out of business.Them selling these crappy tires didn't lower the price to the consumer one nickle. It must look good for the business owner. At least for now. When sales fall off to almost nothing, they're gonna be scratching their heads and saying WTF.OK done ranting. Thanks for reading this.

1 pointWas it a hoax, or did someone travel back to 1985 and change the movie making the new time 2015? We may never know the answer on this one?

1 pointI did that on my 414-8 I used a 1/2" x 2" x (length that fit inside wheel) bar of steel, and welded a 1" barbell bar to it. The steel bar is bolted to 2 holes in the wheels. It's a lot easier removing weights with this setup, than oem ones. Just slide the weights on. The picture shows a 50# plate. Behind it are, smaller plates that fit inside the wheel. Total weight on each wheel is 85#'s I am also making a bar mount for the front of the tractor to hold weights, when needed. I have to mow the sides of ditches in front of my property, and the 170#'s of weight helps keeping the shiny side up!

1 pointThe sonic things from HD didn't work for me. They tunneled right thru them. Same with the pellets. I do like the ex-lax idea...especially on the supervisor. (oohh crap...that's me.) :hide:

1 pointActually your dialup logic is backwards, you want them in the Gallery so you can pull them up one at a time. If you have 50 in a single topic ALL 50 have to load through dialup instead of 1 and some thumbnails. And if you have 10 topics, you'll spend your whole day there. I have enabled the comment section in the show picture gallery so EACH individual picture can be commented on instead of getting lost in a thread. Same applies for the cell phone users. And the gallery can do a slideshow so you can sit back and view all the pictures. I can't force everyone to use the gallery, but if it were used it would be a whole lot nicer to see the 2012 WHCC show!

1 pointI did some grinding last week to fab up that grader blade. Grinders are the best thing since sliced bread.. And they can make you leak in a hurry! They command my attention. That looks like it hurts some. Hope you heal soon! Edit: I am going to guess your right handed to make life even more difficult now.

1 pointI hope you weren't expecting to go the rest of the day without some kind of "reminder"

1 pointWell, to add insult to injury, as I was walking out of my house a little while ago, I closed the door on my already damaged finger! My neighbor was walking by as I did this, so I had to man up, and pretend everything was ok. So I calmly walked over, and climed into my vehicle, where I then proceeded to double over in pain, and cry like a baby. I removed the bandage, expecting to see some popped stitches, but to my suprise there were none. However, now the end of my finger is purple, which goes quite nicely with the blood red, and stitches. It looks like some kind of Frankenfinger now. Matt :flags-texas:

1 pointThat sounds like an excellent approach Jeff. It would seem that the reverse speed would be pretty limited due to the danger involved, and that they probably designed it not to use the full range of the forward motion. Figuring out how to find the sweet spot the first time can be a pain, then after that it's pretty easy. I know what it's like to lie awake pondering these issues. That is usually when I get the best answers to the questions I ponder. The subconscious is a wonderful problem solver. If you figure it out, I hope you post some instructions on here for future endevours. BTW, taking pictures before you take it apart is one of the best 'tricks' I ever learned. I learned it the hard way of course. One of my old flight instructors used to have me help him rebuild his ultralights. He was really good at taking pictures. I saw firsthand how useful it is. I usually feel really stupid standing there taking pictures of something that I think is simple and won't likely forget, but I have found that it is often the extraneous stuff in the pics that comes in the handiest. Several times with my D, I have gone back to see how something was put together. I often come across the info I want in a picture of something else.
