After 4 years of derusting, streightening dents, rebuilding trans and motor, finding parts, and alot of help from my dad. Here it is the finished product! And the man that helped bring it all together. (woodchuckfarmer) Thank you dad for your hard work and help with this project. Thanks to my wife for all her patience and time taking the photos.

Do you know what is the best sound ever? It is 2 701's running in the garage. So, yes i did get the second one runnning. I took a set of points that I was playing with and disassembled them and then sanded the points. And then I sprayed them with quick drying contact cleaner. Gapped them once I got them on the tractor and I saw that glorious blue sight. I put the plug back in went and hit the key and poof we had fire. I run it for a few minutes and set the carb. It was a good night. Thank you all for the suggestions. Red Square Rocks!

I build things Houses, barns, trailers, Wheel Horse equipment. My latest non Wheel Horse build. I started with this: Built a front axle out of 65 Mustang front spindles. Then the frame from some left over steel from a trailer, and mounted a Cougar steering box. Making mounts and fitting a sprocket to a 71 Ford Truck transmission. Got the transmission mounted. Also dropped my camera broke it. Didn't get any pictures of narrowing the 70 Cougar rear end or cutting the drive shaft. This is the next picture I got. Mounted a Kohler K-91 to try it out still need a much larger engine.

I was at the junk yard last week and seen a cub starter gen setting on a bench, it was in very nice shape, I asked one of the guys if it was for sale, why yes it is he said, then asked me if I wanted a hyd set up that came in with it, we walked over to his truck only to see a 99% complete Hyd lift set up for a early cub cadet, I asked how much, he shrugged his shoulders and asked what I'd pay? I offered $40 and he told me for that much I had to take the starter also, well these hyd kits are as hard or harder to find than the HY kits for a WH, I've been looking for one for a year for my 62 Cub Original, and havn't wanted to spend $300+ for one, so just setting back and waiting paid off, this hyd lift is VERY nice with most of the orig. paint still on it. I'm trying to find as many opitions as I can for the cub before I restore it, it is a pretty clean orig. tractor and all ready has the rear fenders, and rare rear PTO, now it will have hyd lift, now to find a creeper gear and lights. MY junk yard score and the tractor it will be going on.

I am glad to hear that there is at least some progress. I guess it's the pump next. Good think is that Jeff and Paul wrote up a great rebuild thread. It should help a lot. Might want to pick up an extra set of orings or two. Just in case.

I would check local auto part stores that have a machine shop. Take the head to them and they could install a helicoil for you without any hassles. Just my opinion.

I will be there late Wednesday or early Thursday. Won't have any thing of mine for sale, but I will be bringing my neighbors high performance C-141. It's not for sale, but for the right price I could make up a story about "horse thieves" or something.

Any acceptable repower engine will end up costing more than the price to rebuild a K series or Magnum Kohler, and it won't likely end up being better than the K341 in the long haul. Bottom line Wheel Horse's are a tractor that shows their engine, and most of the repowers, either bolt in kits (I don't see any available for this tractor) or homebrews just look silly and out of place in them, and you won't really find anything else that is going to bolt right in. I've put quite a few Honda GX kits in Cub Cadets, but they are the '82 model CC"s where the body metal completely covers the engine and they end up working great and you don't see the engine. -Mark-

something like this would be a fabulous addition to the tractor, and he could use it to scoop up the stuff that he is running over...or maybe you could build an FEL on a similar principle...

Well she's finally back together and more importantly... work. here's a few final pics with not yet finished deck. I used it this week to cut some grass. all went well. Due to the recent TSC no longer carrying Valspar post i thought a few pics of Rustoleum on my raider with NO special equipment at all (spray cans), might be helpful. Will be keeping my eyes open for next project.(hopefully a round hood) we'll see!!!! KEN

Brian, renuild your motor. Right now I have a K-341 in the repair shop being rebuilt. Its going to cost me about $800 to get it back running with carb rebuilt also. You will have more than that tied up in repowering your WH with a different new or nearly new engine. I advise you to keep what you have, as you know what you have works and works well, and is simple to operate and work on. Van

Just because I was in TSC to get oil they had on sale, I picked up a can of Valspar paint for one of my horses. Now I've heard people rave about this paint but it doesn't hold a candle to Rustoleum. Even Krylon is better in my opinion. Rustoleum has a heavy pigment that allows you to put down light coats wheras Valspar is only good for graffiti on railroad cars. And that's all I've got to say about that.

I was at the local TS a few days ago. I figured I would pick up a can or two of IH red, but there was only one can left on the shelf. Seems like one of yous guys got there first! I wasn't aware of the impending doom at the time, so I picked up the last can of Valspar, and a couple of cans of the new stuff (Majic?). Dunno what the difference is, but I'm sure not going to loose any sleep over it. I mean come on, how much difference can there be? I know, I know, I am a blasphemer for broaching the subject. James

Other then wheel horses I`d have to say VW buses. This last year I also started making engine part for the old 36hp VW engine in my backyard foundry. The 36hp engine was made in the 50`s so getting oldspeed parts are hard to fine so I made them. My 1965 single cab after about 3 years of work. Heres the foundry and the castings. This is a vintage oil sump I`ve been working on.
