We flew the Wheel Horse flag at the 33rd SIAM- Southern Indiana Antique Machinery Show in Evansville, Indiana on June 8, 9 and 10th at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Spoke to folks from Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Michigan at this big show. Lane (Lane Ranger) and David (TravlinDave) Ralph took two RJ's and a their uncle Don Redding took a custom 317 John Deere "Bulldog"! We had a very nice visit on Saturday with Ken Smith ( (KC9KAS) another Red Square member. Also visited with Roger Parmley of Greencastle and Larry Greener of Winslow, Indiana . There were several there at the show.

I was at the junk yard last week and seen a cub starter gen setting on a bench, it was in very nice shape, I asked one of the guys if it was for sale, why yes it is he said, then asked me if I wanted a hyd set up that came in with it, we walked over to his truck only to see a 99% complete Hyd lift set up for a early cub cadet, I asked how much, he shrugged his shoulders and asked what I'd pay? I offered $40 and he told me for that much I had to take the starter also, well these hyd kits are as hard or harder to find than the HY kits for a WH, I've been looking for one for a year for my 62 Cub Original, and havn't wanted to spend $300+ for one, so just setting back and waiting paid off, this hyd lift is VERY nice with most of the orig. paint still on it. I'm trying to find as many opitions as I can for the cub before I restore it, it is a pretty clean orig. tractor and all ready has the rear fenders, and rare rear PTO, now it will have hyd lift, now to find a creeper gear and lights. MY junk yard score and the tractor it will be going on.

I recently moved into my grandparents farm house, they have been gone for awhile now and a recent turn of events landed me back in my favorite childhood place... Grandma and grandpa's house. My grandpa's tractors are still here, two of which were puchased new by my great grandpa when he lived here. All three have been on the property since new. My great grandpa purchased the '38 Massey Harris 101 super and the Massey Harris Pony (year unknown). My grandpa bought the International Harvester model H in '47. I have some pics, some are as they sat in the barn, So far I have the 101 running and outside, the other two will be longer projects. First the pony The Model H And the 101 super (inside the barn) And the 101 super after I got her running and my uncle drove her out under her own power Let me know what ya think, I'll try to keep posting pics when they are outside to produce a much better picture.

After work I went and helped my parents mow the grange they belong to in Burlington CT. They asked if I could mow it since it has not been done all year. I had a few choices of tractors to bring. My Massey Furgeson GC 2400 I knew would handle easliy. I also thought about bringing out the Charger 10 with the sickle bar. After thinking about it I said why not Old Faithful. She never lets me down and I knew today would not be the day. She's a C-121 always ready to go. Or in this case hay.

I was finally fortunate enough to get a nice WH sign. "Early Fathers Day Gift" Hey I'll take it. The sign cleaned up well. Both side are in great shape. I do have a nice spot on the house above the garage where it will look great. For some reson my wife does not think so. I did plug it in and I will need to replace the bulbs. Anyone that may have any info on this please chime in.

Just when I thought we were finished. As many of you know this little tractor had headlights on it when I was a kid, that my dad had installed for me. I chose not to put headlights on it, because it made it look more original. Well, the other day Danny was looking at the headlights that are on my B-80, and he said "I was wondering what happened to headlights that use to be on my tractor, but now I know what happened". I said oh yeh, what happened to them? He said " you put them on your tractor". That made me feel really bad, and I said, no I didn't. I told him the old ones were long gone. Well I got to thinking, and I said " do you want headlights Danny?" His face lite up. and he said yes. Well this is his tractor, and not mine, so we have headlights, and a set of old fashoned bullet tailights. I only had to drill two small 5/16 holes in the grill for the headlights, and I used the existing factory rear mounting tabs for the tailights. The engine is a magneto ignition, so it doesn't use the ignition switch for anything, but starting, so I wired the lights to the switch. Anyway, here are some pics. Danny, and I had our first night time ride yesterday, and he loved it! Matt :flags-texas:

My Command DOES have an oil filter on it ..... By all means your good to go!! I did not know you had a filter on it. I was thinking it was older style without a filter. And a good brand of synthetic can take the heat of a small engine. Your cheaper synthetics are not a true man made oil, they are hydro-cracked mineral oil that does make it better, but not as good as a true synthetic. Ether way they are better then standard oil for brake down.

I realize that for some, stating repair techniques for a Briggs in a discussion about an Onan or Kohler may seem to be apples to oranges and not germane, but in reality air cooled aluminum block engines are air cooled aluminum block engines and the ratios of the coefficients of expansion between the aluminum block and valve seat material, and the acceptable interferance fit tolerances will be close to universal. That being said, the material of the engine block which formerly held the valve seat fast in all likelyhood has not become eroded or consumed, but rather, displaced by repated percussion of the valve seating at high speed and a repair method which knurls or stakes the valve seat back in place can be a very effective repair. Of course it doesn't sound as professional if you are telling someone how you effected a repair in this manner versus saying "I had it machined", but what is more important for the typical homeowner, having your machine running, or sounding like Cliff Claven?

"David Ralph, Lane Ralph and Don Redding are all attending this event". I met these 3 gentelmen and spent a couple of hours chatting with them under their checkered canopy. I really enjoyed visiting with them Saturday. My wife even offered them money for "baby-sitting" me while she shopped! I hope our paths cross again!
