My neighbor got a Tri-axle load of composted topsoil mixed with mushroom soil delivered today. The ground was way to soft to use bigger stuff (D200 with FEL) to move it into his garden. So here is his 1076 and my L-107 still working after all these years. Note: i got tired long before the L-107 did... (1966 and 1967 over 100 years of horse)

Picked up two that were owned by three generations of the same family! Grandfather was a farmer that bought the 1958 RJ. Father bought 856 new with snowblade and 36 inch deck! Grandson wanted to redo but is now set to retire in another part of the U. S. 856 did heavy mowing. Nd snow removal duty near Hayward, Wisconsin. I bought both but David and I picked them up this evening. I loved the one family owned story! Grandson is an engineer and rebuilt 856 transmission and had a few new gears made for it!

Sounds like a plan! Zeros really do make a lot of sense when there's large grass areas to mow...A relative of mine has about 15 acres to mow. The tractor helps but the zero does all the heavy grass mowing duty due to the speed... Good luck! PS - Maybe keep one as a back up for when the Zero is in the shop or needs a tow? Cheap insurance...Just a thought...

Looks good, but i have a suggestion for a close match. I bought a set of early jeep choke and throttle cables off of ebay for my 701. I had to put a washer on them to mount them to the dash hole, but otherwise they look spot on.

It’s been a while sense I’ve posted anything and I’ve all but stopped using this great forum. When I first started raising my horses I found a great wealth of knowledge and help here. I’ve had a couple of horses for a while now but i desided to move on to another breed, I’m going to a zero turn. I don’t have room in the stable for the horses and a zero turn, so they are going to be retired. They have certainly been great machines and I hope the Ferris will do the same. It is certain that these zero turns can’t do all that the tractor type mowers do, like pull a plow, push dirt etc but it’s also true the tractors can’t do all the zeros do. Basically all I need is a mower so I’m saying good bye to the tractor. What I need is a mower that has more Agility and that’s something the tractors don’t have. I’ll look in from time to time and look at these ole jewels but it’s time for a change.

@rmaynard ...we have posted for those that had 3rd party images to step up and Karl would turn on a switch that would let them go in and fix their own threads. We did this almost a year ago since Photobucket did their thing. Only a few stepped forward, and you were not one of them. I did try to contact a few members through PM's, that had a lot of threads with Photobucket pictures...that was unsuccessful also. I talked with Sparky and Karl and the other Moderators and we all felt it was time to bite the bullet and move on. Fixing the Gallery is a monumental project and it is like starting over, but now you do not have to sit their and look at and be constantly reminded of what 3rd party imaging did to so many forums out there. Your "hot link fix" may not work for all and it also might disappear from use. Also, many of the threads were from members who are inactive. So you know...I did not delete any posts that had pictures. A number of threads existed with multiple posters...these posts were split and saved. It was a lot of work to do this, but we now have a clean platform and it will be much easier to moderate. If there is more then one person that is unhappy with the way things got done...maybe Karl has a back up and can put it all back the worthless way it was. I would gladly return my salary to make everyone happy. Bob, I suggest you re-read this thread. Looks like you have been aware that you could have fixed your pictures since last July. and this one... and especially this one...

Well, I solved my problem. I had gone back out to the shop and looked at the 68 part and noticed that it had full travel Went back to the 70, said a few things that I can't relay on this forum and just gave it a good yank. What ever was binding or"stuck" loosened up. I used this same method to get the steering wheel of my C121! Go Figure Thanks for the quick reply Bob

I will leave it there also Bob...I have been going back and fixing my broken links as I find them. All of this is only about fixing the gallery, no posts anywhere else on the site will be touched. Plenty of notice was given and in light of Terry's card project, the opportunity presented itself to help Terry and fix the site. Believe me, this has been a very well thought out project and in the end, was the only answer. As far as your fix...think about all the people that come into Red Square to look at the pictures and could not see them and did not know about the "fix".

At around 500ft above sea level it takes 1.5hp to produce 1000w of power, so 6000w would require a 9hp engine. A quick look at their site shows that HF uses a 420cc 13hp engine on their 6500w gens. This is a good thing as you should have more engine than you need. Now that I have some education out of the way. Sorry! Do to the fact that the Predator is basically a Honda clone, many Honda engine parts will inter change with the Predator engine.

love the response to this neglect, Garry and others came thru with quick positive answers, I also like the multi point details, that's what you want , when it hits the fan. greyghost is very lucky to be properly steered toward this repair. this will give him the insight and confidence to go on to getting this tractor right. glad to see you getting help , Pete.

I went to a "Real Barb B Que" Joint near NYC. I should have known when The music playing was today's hits and not old blues tunes that I was in trouble. Driest ribs I ever had. Went thru half a bottle of sauce just to eat them. Good to hear the great review!

The way I adjust mine is to loosen the brake band, set the parking brake in the first notch, then tighten the brake band until snug and tractor doesn't free wheel.

Just to update. Ordered new transmission on Tuesday morning which arrived 24 hours later. Five hours work today , took the old one out and installed the new one, now all up and running. Not difficult to remove the old one or install the new one. What took a lot of time was getting the hubs off the shafts but more especially removing the collar spacers that sit inboard of the hubs. I cleaned up the shafts with an abrasive disc and then used heat, a size 10 hammer, big tyre levers, penetrating fluid. Finally when I used lots of foul language the little blighters came off. Fitted them and the hubs using copper grease in case I ever have to remove them again. If I am correct Tuff Torque is from the USA. It's difficult to understand how we got this from the great nation that made the Wheelhorse! I suppose that's progress Put the tools away and though I'd cut some grass. Wrong! Massive hail storm. Never mind, nearly time for a beer!

Zero turns make for great mowers to be sure, I have one for that duty. I also use a 36" mower deck on one of my Commando 8s more for fun than anything else. But that's what zero turns are good for, if you have a lot of grass to mow. As Btrrg states that's what he needs, good luck, Ferris is a good brand. I happen to enjoy all that the Wheel Horses can do besides. Both types of machines have their applications. Enjoy your Ferris, and don't be a stranger.

Got some more work done on the project. Cleaned up and went through the engine then repainted. Also got the frame, dash tower and transmission painted as well. Figured I'd throw the front wheels and tires on as well

So I decided to NOT restore the 59' RJ. I took it apart completely and cleaned all parts. I also did some sanding. The top of the hood basically had no paint left so I had to feather in some color match using a gun. I then wet sanded and buffed it. Cleared most of the frame and steering parts. I still have to get hood right before I clear it. Coming along nice imo. On the Economy I modified the fenders to fit fairly tight over tires. I still need to mount them but pictures show pretty much where they will land. I love the look on both. Update on the 857. It did not go to a new home like anticipated. I am willing to sell it if anyone is interested. I am willing to sell as is but would like to get it running and then offer it up in the classified section. I did start to wet sand and buff it and it looks pretty darn good.

Thanks for sharing this Eric—great thread! I love restored stuff, just like taking something that has been used and abused and making it new again. Something that no one else can see the value in but I can. However, this car is quite possibly one of the most iconic cars in automotive movie history with a crazy yet cool story about its existence. If it were me, I’d keep it exactly the way that it is just because of its originality through and through. Then, i’d Build a duplicate car that looked better than the original did when it was in the film. That would be the machine that I’d drive and play with... Since it is operable and driveable—allow it to stretch its legs in a controlled setting now and again but keep it for future generations to enjoy while doing some serious Steve McQueen like driving with the clone!!! just my

Here is the charging circuit simplified. Note there is a fuse in the circuit so check that AND the fuse holders. There can always be problems hiding there. The manual I have attached has more info in as well. Personnally I would change out the reg just because they are known to go out and not real expensive.. The PN and where I got from escapes me I will try and find it It was from the jungle site or fleabay and was 10 bucks or so. You can check the stator resistance and output as well. Tractor 1992 246-H Wiring Detailed.pdf WH89-90 _T14 Electric Pto Clutch Service.pdf Here's the reg https://www.ebay.com/itm/Voltage-regulator-for-Briggs-Stratton-394890-691185/260774955955?epid=2256047227&hash=item3cb7660bb3:g:8xsAAOxyyjpRwdgo

I'm busted. I'm thinking it might be the same motor they use now and just the kw ratings are different. That should make the parts search easier. That predator was one of them on my list when I was looking.

Kudos on trying to buy American but good luck with that as I do the same. But, unfortunately, "American made" these days really means "American assembled". The industry standard for small single phase generators is 2hp per kw. It looks like the Predator generators in the 5.5kw to 7kw use a 420cc motor as do what looks to be the majority of other generators in that size range. Their current line up has a 8750/7000 and a 6500/5500 but I don't see anything at 7000/6500. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a rating thing that they changed. Any idea on the age of it? Numbers on the motor?

Well, add a bathroom in the basement along with tankless water heater and water softener. Need to finish replacing old water pipes with PEX (1920 house). Put a ceiling in the bedroom of the basement and paint the house. Lots of yard work to be done that I have put off forever. Deck really needs some repairs and pressure washed. Add 30 amp service with water and sewer out at my shop so we can plug the camper in there. Dirt and gravel work to park the camper on. Need more storage for Horses and Cubs at the shop. More gravel work at the shop. Hopefully work in some work on tractors in between all the other stuff that there is no way I will get all done. Oh, and my Son is getting married in August!! Randy

My first Wheel Horse still likes to work. The Tecky pulled a load of stone home from the field, so we made a retention pond to disperse the house rain water. I know, it's pretty obvious, I'm not a stone mason.

Hi, I already put a new transmission belt on over the winter. The degree of the problem has not changed as a result of that. I tried it again today and from cold its not too bad. So thinking about sucking the oil out and filling with 5/50 fully synthetic which I have so just a bit of time. I use the Westwood for mowing my lawns (about 2 acres), because it is unique in that it has a PTO driven sweeper and a roller it leaves a nice striped effect on the lawn which we like. It collects the leaves in the fall very effectively. I also have a Westwood scarifier which is PTO driven. Its got a Kawasaki FS481V 16hp twin (built in the USA !) One I'd replaced the ridiculous Chinese bearings which disintegrated in the first two years it has been fine until this. The Raider 12 is used for mowing 2 acres of field that's a bit bumpy and would destroy the Westwood. Its a worker and also tows a large heavy roller, a large trailer full of logs or ton bags of sand etc etc etc. I even towed the root stump of a 60' Eucalyptus about 100 yards with it. This machine is so fantastic, but; it doesn't collect grass and stripe the lawn Occasionally they both are used to entertain the grandchildren!
