7 pointsI just picked this up at an auction, I know its some type of suburban, but have no clue on the model. It has a small Tecumseh on it
-
7 pointsThanks guys. I haven't had a chance to do a whole lot due to other obligations for the last week or so. We took Emory to the Virginia Tech Carillion Research Institute for a follow up to his study that he participated in during May. I hope to get back on it this weekend. I get off for Christmas next Tues and may have to thrash a couple of days to finish up. I will be sure to have a camera close by. I'm going to give him a Wheel Horse hat and Blackhood shirt along with his keys before I take him down. I'll update as soon as I get more done.
-
7 pointsJust make sure you don't eat any of BRF's chimmy chongas while you are at the show. If so, get it out of your system before you hit the road. Don't want anyone to get hurt on the way back.

6 pointsI got snow here today for the first time that needed plowed. I had to go to work early to plow snow but none to be had as the flurries missed us in the AM. I'm about 25 miles north of where I work and on the way home it was waiting for me. This is the first time using this tractor and considering I have no wheel weights it did great. I know I'm pushing my luck( no pun intended) but if it becomes an issue I can switch back to the turfs and put a set of 105 lbers along with a set of 80 lbers stacked on top. Did anyone else get their tractors out today? Better than snowmobiling! I have a horseshoe shaped drive and it takes some time.

6 pointsI was up late last night binge-watching The Crown. Before going to bed I decided to open RedSquare on my laptop. I didn't realize that the light bulbs had been added, and I had the volume all the way up. The mouse passed over a couple of bulbs and woke me up.
-
6 pointsYou needed to add a HumBug in there somewhere Change your theme to the RedSquare (no lights)
-
6 pointsWell @stevasaurus pretty much took the year off from shows this year so I think it was @ACmans wife brought him to the big show and I was asked to take a picture with him then @WHX12 brought Steve on a stick to the Portage Wisconson show or the Minnesota show I can't remember which one and again got my picture taken with him. So hopefully next year there will be no Steve on a stick just @stevasaurus himself at the shows! (He was missed)

6 pointsI have always been an antique cabinet freak. Especially those old hoosier-type cabinets. I can't go to any antique shop or mall that I am not drawn to those old kitchen relics. I have restored and sold probably two dozen of them, but my biggest thrill was using my amateur cabinet making skills to build a reproduction of a 1925 Seller's Kitchen Cabinet. Hmm...seems to be a theme here. "Hoosier" cabinets, and tractors from the Hoosier state.

5 pointsStarted working in a 73 Cub I picked up this summer. Of course it is supposed to run, they always do, right? LOL! Well, I have a good motor out my stock puller that will make a good runner. I only give $75 buck for this tractor and want to spend as little as possible, sooooo, I will use what I have to put it together and make a good plowing tractor out of it. Here are some pics. Someone was going to make a puller out of it. Ok, here are some current pics. I have it in the shop, up on my workbench. I have the hood at my work straightening it out a bit and will put some paint on it. I will probably rattle can rest of it for now. I need a worker and don't want to spend any money. I am putting some headlights out of 149 in it that I had laying around. Also dug into the parts bin and put a lift on it and brinley hitch.
-
5 pointsFeeling destructive? Turn your sound up and drag over the Christmas lights at the top of the page.
-
5 pointsWe've got to be able to see Emory's reaction when he finds out that the tractor is his. The anticipation is at a fever pitch for us waiting for the big reveal. This is gonna be a wild Christmas for him and you.
-
5 pointsREAL nice score for that price! The Tecumseh is not the original engine but at least the PO didn't go with a big one and cut the hood.
-
5 pointsMan y'all are sure making me want to make the show. Maybe I need to find another Texan to ride shotgun for the long drive

5 pointsWait until spring. That's the time you find them sitting out by the road for bulk pickup. If you buy one, after about a month, you will end up using it for everything other than what it was intended (Ed Kennell pictured it perfectly). I say this because everyone that I know (including me) who has purchased a treadmill or other home exercise equipment has done the same thing. I now walk 2 miles a day on a local jogging path. When the weather is cold, I go to the local mall. After my spinal surgery, I joined Planet Fitness for a year. Their treadmills are great, and you can watch one of about a dozen different TV's while exercising. Or if you are lucky, the "young scenery" all around you is also fun to watch. A lot better than the plain old wall in your basement. But having said that, I would not buy a treadmill or other type of exercise equipment unless you are totally motivated and committed.

5 pointsAre you sure the high/low shifter is fully engaged? They will act like a neutral if not fully engaged. Garry
-
4 pointsTake a hacksaw and cut a slot across the head of the bolt. It is quicker to spin it in with a screw driver rather than the 1/6 of a turn useing a wrench.

4 pointsBigger parking lot at the new place. We may have to steal a bus stop bench.
-
4 pointsMade a little progress today, found a couple of small cracks in the seat pan so I welded those up. Got the rear rims blasted, one rear tire had a lot of goo in it, what a mess to clean up. Working on cleaning up the engine now, getting it ready to put back on.
-
4 pointsWell the B-80s wal-mart battery ( bought back in May) gave up the ghost. I haven't had much luck with those crappy little 230 amp Sam Walton specials, but they are cheap at 20 or so dollars and they will probably replace it. So for now I just keep using those. I thought there may be a parasitic drain but a test revealed none. Anyways that was a good excuse to put my RJ-59 through its paces. Needless to say it performed admirably. I thought about the guy who would have had it or one like it brand new in 59 plowing his drive while being the envy of the neighborhood!

4 pointsChanged the bandage this morning and it is ugly but is healing. Just hoping I have some feeling when it is done healing. I am training my middle finger to work as an index finger just in case
-
4 pointsReally. ... If we had more amateurs like you we wouldn't need any professionals. Nice work!

4 pointsI think we all put projects on the burner that we could do when the weather turns to nasty. I collect Chess sets and I have had one that my brother in law bought me some years ago. He bought it in Mexico...maybe 30 years ago...Onyx. I had stored it in a bad spot through the years...under the sink in the bar. A Coke had leaked on it ...and Coke will eat stone, it made a mess of things and it has been some years that I wanted to fix this. Took a while to figure out what I wanted to do. The Onyx was mounted on like a concrete backing. It had some disintegration with the concrete and the Onyx. Pictures might help here...... This is what it looked like apart. I cut a piece of 1/2" plywood that was 3/8" larger then the square of the Onyx and used Liquid Nails to glue the pieces together. I then took the table saw and cut pieces to set on the edge of the wood out-cropping to make a frame. I used the table saw to cut the grooves and 45ed the edges to give it a nice feel. I then used polyurethane to fill and hide the cracks. I am bye no means an excellent wood worker, but I am satisfied with what I did to save this Chess Set. Thanks for looking. This is what the trim looked like (on end) after cutting on the table saw. finished product after 3 coats of finish. If you have projects like this...please add them. One thing I need to do during the winter...change fishing line on my poles...sharpen hooks. Pictures of this to follow.

4 pointsElectric or manual will work. Just make sure it has long horizontal hand rails.

3 pointsWell, let me put it this way, I did become very proficient at breaking them. Practice makes perfect.

3 pointsThe sand paper foot pads worked fine on my 3/12. I did like the look of the later style rubber pads that partially went up the rear fender. We picked up a bunch of 4'x8' sheets of 1/8" diamond plate in the mill clean out last month. Most will be used on my GMCs flatbed. There were some smaller pieces and I had wanted to make diamond plate pads for a while. I didn't think the steel was any thougher than the 3/16" I had just used but I was wrong. Was harder to cut and drill. I cut 2 pieces for each side. A 12"x6" foot pad and 4"x6" rear piece that I welded on at the same degree as the fender. Next I filed the holes square to take the 5/16" carrige bolts. They will be held on with 3 per side. Finally I primed and 2 coats of gloss black rustoleum followed by a coat of truck bed liner. I could put them on now but I've slowly been replacing all the hardware with stainless and don't have the bolts yet. Should look cool

3 pointsWell leave Monday morning, lay over at my stepson's house in N.C. Leave out wed morning and head for the hotel. 👍 With company like the fellas listed in this thread, I know I won't be bored.

3 pointsWe use a Verizon portable hot spot and last year our service charge for December had a lot of "game" charges on it and neither of us play on line games so the only thing I could tie it to was the time I spent busting Christmas Lights on here. Never had it before or after.

3 pointsWord of advise be careful using super glue overhead if you have a mustache . Don't even ask.
-
3 pointsI must say WOW!! That is looking GREAT!!! I really like the color combo and great job. Your boy is gonna be super excited for sure... Better make sure ya got the camera ready when ya give it to him cause that will surely be a memory to capture.

3 pointsSee what the casting date is on the transmission. That may help to determine 58 or 59. There may not be a casting date (early 58 RJs). It would be on top by the shifter. letter...number...8 or 9 Like B21 9 It would still be a guess, unless the trans is for sure original and the last number is a 9. An 8 would make the trans produced in 1958, but it may not have found a horse until 1959.
-
3 pointsJust get in the truck, put in the George Strait, 50 number one hits CDs and go. When their thru playing your almost there.
-
3 pointsDougie would get in trouble at Planet Fitness and Doug you’ll get better results watching Hockey, auto racing or Jerry Springer than the Bears. It’s awfully hard to maintain your balance on a treadmill when you’re laughing!

3 pointsFar too many top of the line units end up on auction sites and CL - I'd never buy a new one again if it were me . I can find at least half a dozen for free in less than a week - just have to get some young'ns to move it , they are quite heavy . We got ours when my wife wanted to lose some weight and after I had the knee surgeries I used it quite a bit to get back in shape for work after being off for so long - now it just sits and I'm tempted to use that high power motor and controllers for a drill press as so many others are doing - it's a great upgrade and gives you variable speed with an amazing amount of torque . Whatever the case - no reason to buy new - humans are committed to these things for a very short time and give up , too many low priced or free ones available . If you came here - you could have ours , lol.... Sarge
-
3 pointsYep. Also check CL. You may even find one for free just to get it up out of the basement. I would give mine away if someone would carry it upstairs. LOL

3 points@elcamino/wheelhorse easy access to the interstate (but not next to,its quite) gas and Walmart across the street . Lots of restaurants ( College town) and a 25 minute beautiful drive to the fairgrounds . ACcuz for sure is taking his camper but I may still stay at the Holiday Inn Express (I have points so it’s usually free or close to it) . I’m not putting down the Comfort inn and it’s only 5min down the road . I do see there’s a holiday in express in Chambersburg but right now it’s $39 more night ($70 vs $109) compared to Shippensburg .As far a trailers the hotel let me leave my trailer full of tractors right out front for a 2 nights and a day . I leave my empty trailer right on the grounds and haven’t had any issues.
-
3 pointsPut on a Attach-A-Amatic on the front....think of the possibilities Doug ! Like you said a generator but add some deep cycle batteries and a solar panel . You’d could go off grid and the injans can burn down all the poles they wanted .......
-
3 pointsGuys that brings back memories of Glacier/Nat Park in Montana going to the sun road. Check imagines on google. they have poles 20' to 30' high for guidance. One image of visitors center @ Logan's pass on a hard winter Can you see the road in the back ground?
-
3 pointsWorking frantically on the gt trying to get it ready. Already have that week in the vacation book. Have my fingers crossed. Isn't this about 20 miles from the show grounds?

3 pointsif you spin the input shaft on the trans, does the wheels/axles then turn? If yes, you look to see why the input shaft is not connected to the engine via belt drive. if no, you have a problem with/in the trans.
