A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. IDENTIFYING A STROKE Thank God for the sense to remember the ‘3’ steps, STR. Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: S *Ask the individual to SMILE. T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. Chicken Soup) R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. New Sign of a Stroke ——– Stick out Your Tongue NOTE: Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is this: Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A cardiologist said that if everyone who gets this message shared it with 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I want to thank everyone with all the information for my C160 restoration. Thanks also to Jim Kemp for the exhaust stack. I think it looks great!

Thanks guys. Your comments keep me going. I got out today burning some yard debris left from the hurricane and in between loads I snuck over and wired my "new" 16hp Kohler. After that I was eyeing the fenders that I needed to fix from previous owners drilling them holes in them for spot lights. I got an idea I saw reading an old post about putting lights under the fenders. Well I put mine in them. First one I cut too low so I had to weld up my hole with the metal I removed from the top. I just moved them all the way up. Still have to weld the mounting brackets to the back of the buckets but at least the hard part is done. Once the fenders are all bolted back together and straightened, the lights should be straight across. Still have some hammer bumping and fine sanding to do. Better than I expected.

The suburban is a cute run around , but very light in the front end. You may want to consider adding a good deal of front weight and a pair of wheelie bars to keep your son and grandson safe. If you make your own rear fenders it might be good to extend them forward to serve as running boards to keep little legs away from the rear tires too.

My first post and I'm asking for help , My wife and I picked up a model 400 suburban for our soon to be three year old Grandson. Now my wife wants me to get a set of rear fenders for it. Been looking for some time now with no luck. So that brings me to asking for some help, where would be a good place to start /try to get some funders? If I had a good photo of the finders I could go from there and make a set. I work in a small machine shop and the boss lets us use the equipment when things are slow, So I know that I can made finders if I had something to work from. When we got the 400 home it had a running 2 1/2 hp B&S that was smoking a little so I went ahead and replaced it with a new 3 hp Harbor Fright motor, then I made a new belt guard and a new trailer hitch so it could pull a little cart we had . This tractor is not going to be restored by me as it is something for the grandson and his farther to do someday( if they want ) right noe it is his yard toy to drive. I want to thank you for your help and time . Joe

Worcester sand and gravel has a truck show every year. I go there quite a bit to get materials for work and my house. It's cool in general because they never really retire any of their equipment so you never know what you'll see. You will always see Macks though. Good assortment this year mostly older stuff which is what you want to see anyway. The little man loved it and what else can you do for $2?

the problem I see with tug of war is one of or both of the tractors rearing up and flipping over backwards, that would be a real possibility on black top. the tractors would either spin or if enough weight was on and they got a good bite one could flip. The one thing here nobody is thinking about or volunteering for is the man power to run such a thing, everybody is saying well supervised. the other year they talked about a tractor build off, couldn't get enough people to step up and say that they would do it. just saying lots of ideas but nobody willing to step uo to the plate and run it. this is why we don't have tractor games becuase nobody wants to run them. hopefully I didn't step on ant toes here but this is the way it's been in the past eric j this is just my opinion and not the board this would have to brought up before the board for a vote if enough interest came up

we tried the tractor pulls years ago when Charlie Culley and Tim Shue built there own sled. the problem was the fair board didn't want us to tearing up the ground. So that put an end to the tractor pulling at the big show. end of story !!!!!! not my opinion just the way it is eric j

I agree with adding weight on the front. If you put it in third gear and aren't gentle with the clutch you can pop wheelies! Also I have a 401 (pretty much the same tractor) and I rolled it over me once when I was loading it on a trailer. I'm not trying to scare you, I just want to make sure you're safe! They are fun little tractors to run around on!

They have removable lenses that let it be a spot or a flood. May make one of each on each side and have separate switches for each pair. That requires planning and I haven't got that far yet.

Chris G.... we got to feeling guilty lol.... ended up doing some horse trading and we are now the proud owners of a 1964 Wheel Horse 754 So we are now the proud owners of 3 Horses instead of 2. Got it cleaned off a little and working on getting the carb lined out but the 161 seems to run pretty good so far.

I'll have to agree with @Ed Kennell I have at the moment 4 running wheelhorse tractors and my favorite is my C160. I love the hydro and the hydro lift. It is simple to work on and it can move mountains of snow. My 2000 314-8 is a really nice tractor but a pain to work on. My 67 lawn ranger is for fun. And my 77 B80 is like the c160 in every way except it lacks the power of its big brother the c160. I like the design of it over the black hoods and as for all the safety switchs on the later models nothing but a pain in the butt. I think it's a good looking tractor.

I love the little shade effect the upper fender gives it. The light lenses look different from each other, fill us in.

I heard the fair boards objection to tractor pulls, the story goes back in the late 60's or early 70's they had tractor pulls on the grounds out in the open field till a tractor flipped over backwards and the driver was killed. so that was the rest of the story. So with that be said I highly doubt that the fair board will wont or let any kind of pulling contest at all at the show eric j

I think several of us have. I always back on to a trailer now.
  33. 2 points
Exactly, however I always try to free them, and run it to see if it had a rod knock. Often a flat hone and new rings do the trick. If rod is needed I typically tear it down and have it all done.

When the low oil switch was introduced it was determined there was not enough oil in the engines so it generated a service bulletin and a different dip stick. Download these 3 pages. What is your tractor's model number and engine spec number? That should determine which dipstick you have. They added 1 pint to the capacity and it raised the full mark 7/8" and the add mark 1". To keep it simple then and give the opportunity to everyone who wants to be involved I would say to start with just the tug-of-war. Of course it should be highly supervised and regulated.

The fear of liability is often more dangerous than accidents. It's a bad habit to kill an idea with the fear of liability before the idea is flushed out and the risk is assessed. What activity is being proposed? What is the safest way to do that activity and still achieve the goal?

The 60" deck with the front wheels is actually the newer deck. The originals came with the skids and there was a kit available to upgrade to the wheels. My 60" deck has the wheels and I like the ability to adjust them.

cleaning up the supports on a wire wheel. Have to re fabricate the pieces in the rear that connect under the seat. The previous owner had the whole cab stored under his deck on the ground Will take some pictures as i go

All it would take is one good accident to make riding at the big show cease to happen. I'd really hate to see that part of our show go away. Just sayin'

I certainly don't think it would be any more risky than some of the night cruises I have witnessed, and I am sure it would do a lot for more and additional interest in event specially for the younger generation.

Thank you! After surfing some docs on here i thought so but wanted a 2nd opinion. I bought it for a winter project and hope to pull drag mowers with it next summer. I have a new tablet and trying to insert pics. Not yet successful. Lol. I currently own a 1998 JD GT 262 and have used it several years. Its time for a spare.

Now have two of this model. It'll be the next Restore. Couldn't turn down a free one. Only thing missing is the carb (only have half a dozen carbs laying around), but the deck is trashed. Luckily I have two or three replacement decks here as well. I'll have to make it look like this one.

I know what you mean Sarge. I had the HL-5s on my 854 and did a minor modification so I could turn the lens so the 'grooves' were horizontal. Nice job making that Redranger.
