    Put the Raider to work today. This Tractor with the old 42" side drive is unstoppable in the tall stuff and still makes a nice finish cut since I added the two antiscalp rollers on the front corners.

    Thanks to a fellow member here, my Autism Horse now sports one of Glen's older cast resin horse head hood ornaments. Came to me as raw resin casting. I had to shorten the "tail" a bit to match the stock hood ornament length and to keep clear of the custom lettering on the hood decal. First paint coat after a light sanding was grey primer. After that cured overnight, a coat of semi gloss black. The following morning, the coat of chrome paint was applied. Once dry I found some self tapping screws and mounted the ornament and its rubber base to the hood. Turned out pretty good. Mike

    Custom brackets for installing brake calipers done. Took most of the day. Started modifying the inner fenders to fit.

    Just a few pics. Place was packed! Never seen so many at this show before. A little muddy but not bad considering we've had rain almost every day.

    Decided, the the pitting had to go. So, moving right along today. I removed the hood & started with a light application of an old wire wheel... ...truly amazing how much rust stays hiding under that old factory paint. Remounted the hood, & blocked it using one full sheet of the wet/dry 230 grit. Then, a quick wipe down to reveal it needs more work... OK, switch the grit to 320 now, & hit it again... Now that's a little more like it...time now for a skim coat of spot filler... and, sand to this. Another skim coat for good measure, & sanded with 400. Now a light "guide" coat of acid etching primer... ...& no evidence of the pitting remains. Ran out of daylight for today, will pick this up again tomorrow.

    I have an Cyclone Rake XL model that I pull with my 518xi. Together they are 13 feet long. I'm not sure what model you are looking at but the XL has the largest bag, and full of mulched leaves weighs quite a bit. I opted for the optional dual tires so i don't have any rutting of the ground issues. The 5xi is really good combination with the Cyclone Rake as the 5xi has a 20"radius for turning. My 518xi doesn't have the power steering like my 523Dxi has but the steering only gets heavy when full. Pulling the Cyclone Rake is like having another tractor tagging behind. You need to get a feel for it as you are sitting in the center of the combined unit. I tried attaching mirrors to the tractor to watch but found it really wasn't necessary. And it does not track like a lawn cart. The solid hitch makes it swing out! I went through three different hitches before getting the most workable. Cyclone Rake gives you a rinky dink adapter that bolts on the Wheel Horse hitch - but that was bent after the first use. There is a lot of torsional stress side-to-side when turning. Next I found on eBay an ill conceived 2" receiver that I could bolt the CH plate to but then had to remove it to install Rear Attach-A-Matic for the the snowblade. Next I bought Scott and Tom's 2" receiver hitch to use and I adapted a Warn Winch Hitch Adapter Mount #68531. I used the portion that is closest to the hitch. I believe that I needed to drill two new holes or enlarge existing holes into the Warn Plate to match the Cyclone Rake plate. This makes for a very solid mount and can handle the stress. I added a tapped hole into the side of the receiver so I could screw a bolt in to eliminate the slight side-to-side slack. I also put two washers under the two arms from the Cyclone Rake where it attaches to the plate to prevent it digging into the plate and lessening wear.

    My son and his wife live in the Bahamas and the company he works for evacuated them to North Carolina. Hope they still have a place to live in and all they own is still there. The main thing is they are ok. Everything else can be replaced. Praying for everyone that is in the storms path.

    Picked this T70 up today for my wife to replace the 1107 she had in NY. Needs just alil work before she can really enjoy it! But here in TN this stuff is hard to come by!(well kinda went to southern IN to get it) lol all original tho except for some paint here in there...

    Today was the day to start redoing my yard. It's been embarrassing me since we moved in May. The sub-development we live in was a sand pit in its former life. They contractors layed down 2" of topsoil down, sprayed some hydro seed down and called it a day. I borrowed half of an old drag harrow from work. Missing the front bar so didn't work perfectly but good enough for my purpose. Hooked up my 2" receiver on, a shackle and chain hooked up to another chain on the drag. I pulled it along but it wasn't digging in like I wanted. I a spare set of rear wheels with 100lbs of cast iron on them, chained them to the drag. All said it was over 200lbs. Worked great 👍. I ran it 2 low only because 1 high pulled a little fast. Pulled all that weight with 2" spikes angled into the ground up hill with ease. Still have to rake the back then spread 16 yards of loam

    Yesterday I was able to rebuild the basic sub frame, easy except that I wanted to re use the front brackets that had some UGLY torch cuts that required patching. I put it under the tractor today to get the spacing right and tack in the cross member that the uprights sit in. It sits level, but the tractor still has a rake cause I wasn't as smart as @Aldon to drop the front axle mounts. I have another set of 520 spindles I was going to modify, but at this point I think I'll just live with it. 10' from tip of bucket to back of weight box.

    I have also family in Tampa and they are riding it out. I pray for thier safety. Gonna be rough on the west coast. East coast is going to get a pounding from the surf but not as bad as the west. It's just bad all the way around. If it stays on course,I will get just at or above hurricane force winds and lots of rain. Horses are strapped,taped and shoved up by the house for protection. I REALLY need a garage. Praying for the best. See ya on the other side.

    I couldn't resist taking this somewhat rare pump apart. It was in amazingly good condition. The only problem was a torn seal on the primer shaft. The diaphragm and valves look good. I planned to make a seal and put it back together until I picked up one of the tiny valve springs with my numb arthritic hand. Yep, I dropped it never to be found again. Maybe ACE hardware or the local clock repair guy will have one.

    Having been a Cyclone Rake owner for many years, I can tell you that your turning radius is the same as the tractor plus the length of the Cyclone rake. You must remember that you are now swinging around an extra 5 to 6 feet on the back. If you have trees or come close to buildings, you must take them into consideration before attempting to make a turn. I liked your trailer hitch, but where are you going to attach the Cyclone's 2-point mounting plate?

    Not a sweeper and a bit more expensive - but worth it. I have the largest unit sold at that time. You sometimes can find them used although owners seem to hang on to them until moving on to a different property. I have two acres and mow about 1/2 an acre. Trees surround us so it is about six weeks of "Leaf Patrol" in the fall. I usually fill it about four-five times each use. The second tractor is out where I dump to push the mulched leaves into piles. It picks up that much! Then about three days after I clear the lawn, it is covered over again. The center of the cul-de-sac gets covered over by the end of the season and I clear that as well. Here are some examples from years past.

    I have a lean to on the side of my shop. I don't have a rodent problem but if I don't check under the hood before cranking the wasps can get pretty active in about 5 minutes.

    I had already primed and painted the inside of rims but can't seem to mount without scratching them so once I mounted I used the card trick on partially deflated mounted tires to put finish coat on the rims. So a hybrid of some of the methods above.

    Busy week at work and Church. Did finish the dash plate and got the rims painted. These tasks were not necessary at this time but were easy short jobs I could tackle in between life this week.....and rain.

    I saved this jewel from the scrap yard this morning. About a 30 minute trip and 20 minutes of that was backing the trailer up a very winding steep driveway. Has a fairly good deck shell and the gears and spindles feel OK. Plus a sleeve hitch with a pin that is actually free in the transmission. And 2 link vee bar chains.

    The Cyclone Rake is no doubt a fantastic tool -- Down here in N La pine trees are like weeds with the long leaf (needle) being very common. For YEARS I fought for a solution to getting the huge quantities of straw picked up -- and the CR did it and a fine job of it too!! As to turning radius, I cant think of a way to exactly describe it, yes, it will be the same as your tractor -- BUT!, the a** end of that thing will 'kick' out and slap the crap out of any wall/fence/garage/ etc that you are near. It really takes a bit to get the brain trained to keep that in mind - and I still will occasionally 'slap' something. Now, what Bob said about your beautiful hitch - that aint gonna work. You'll have to fabricate a means to solidly mount the hitch that comes with the rake (as shown in Bobs pic) although, I suppose? that it might work on a pivoting hitch - I dunno.

    Looks like it is centered on the West coast with a direct hit on Tampa. Just talked to my Sister in Law that lives South of Tampa. Glad to report She is safe in a shelter.

    Seems to be a 1965 and earlier item, very handy to have for any engine that sits for a few days.

    A buddy that works at Kohler told me some engines were speced with the primer lever and it is thought that inventory was low that day on the assembly line of non primer ones so a few of our engines got them. Also possible tha the wrong lot got put out on the line by mistake. He said that still happens in this day of computer inventory control.

    Dennis, for your 264H try what I do for my two gas engine 5xi. I read somewhere years ago that the Kohler CH has a tendency to run on when shutoff. Probably the early emission standards for small gas engines is the reason. Even after idling down they will sometimes backfire which is not good for the muffler. The cure was to advance the throttle simultaneously while turning the ignition off. You essentially flood the engine. This always works for me.

    I use the same method Alcon does but my paint skills are not great so I use cardboard. I cut a 12" hole or 8" for fronts then split in half and slide in under rim. The whole tire is covered.

    I found this tractor and couldn't pass it up for $50. She's a bit rough but has a lot of parts that I need. Can someone tell me what year and model it is? The model number is T1267 and the serial number is 379154. It has a k301 s motor on it

    I think the next part I attempted was the dash assembly. Two 3/16" thick alloy panels were cut for the front and rear with a bent up alloy spacer pop riveted on. When first looking at photo's I had thought that both front and rear had an apex on the top surface. It was only after I had build number one well on the way that my man with the camera, tape and notebook, Iain, pointed out my mistake. I made three or four alterations, gradually reducing the front apex and leveling off the rear before it looked about right. These photo's are before any alterations. The outer shell was originally bent so that it finished on the underside and left oversize back and front for trimming later. The first attempt also looked too long when viewed from the side. This photo shows the top rear looking more like it should be. There were a lot of alterations and head scratching before the final result which included brackets bent up to hold front, rear and outer shell together. Also a strong mount for the steering column bush and cross beams for mounting to the upper side panels. Lots of assorted BA nuts and bolts were used which resulted in a very strong assembly. The brackets set at an angle on the front face are for the spring loaded hood locking catches, more of these later. The Steering column bush is a 1/2" socket cap screw drilled 5/16". I drilled two of these, the second for the steering wheel. This will also be described later. .

    The concrete was poured today. Will add AG panel on each end this weekend. Add a slope on the sides for easy access. Should be good for a few WH's and attachments. .

    @Dave1967 You can remove both from the tractor and as a temporary fix. Insert the ball back into the socket and then take a hammer and a punch and tap all around the socket to hold the ball until you can get a new tie rod.
