As many of you know @stevasaurus is not able to make it to the "Big Show" this year, but his stunt double "Steve On A Stick" is filling in for him and had a nice chat with Mike @squonk and Aldon @Aldon at the bus stop bench this afternoon! Steve on a stick will be making the rounds of the show this weekend, no telling what kind of trouble he will get into!

I am sorry to hear first about your health and secondly that you are giving up hobby. Hopefully we will still have you in this forum to share your vast knowledge and answer our questions the way you have done for years. Hope that all will turn out well and look to finally meet you at show.

So before parking the ol horse I took a couple pics of its glory. I haven't rode it since before I put the massey weights on. I took it around the yard, then on the road down and back a few times for exercise, then put it back in the shed and wiped her down.

Just wondering how many of you remember the old Swisher lawn mower, one of the first zero turn mowers on the market. These machines had two speeds with a single front wheel drive, to go in reverse you simply turned the steering wheel 180 degrees. I've owned a couple of these, they were neat little machines that were a blast to drive. Down falls were, no adjustment on the deck height, and the deck was part or the chassis so it did not float. Well with retro styling being so popular, I guess Swisher has decided to jump on the band wagon. For the low low price of $3400 you can now own a retro swisher zero turn with a 32" deck. Personally I think that they went a lil over board on the price, but it's kinda cool that they brought the old styling back.

Many of you guys know me from this forum and it has become time for me to give up this hobby....due to failing health. I live in n/w PA...abvout 40m south of Lake Erie and my zip code is 16433 (for google map). For 40+ years I've enjoyed Wheelhorse and wish I could continue...but no. Anyway, I have remaining a lot of parts that I'd like to dispose of and to list some: 20 hoods (Raiders, B-C, 312-8, 520) , 20+ cast front axles, 20 + pairs front spindles, 15 or so fender pans & seats, 6 or 7 engines from 8 to 19hp K-twin, foot boards, tool boxes, 3 or 4 frames, TONS of Deck Tach-o-Matic lift hardware, mule drives, front and mid Tach-o-matic hitches, drawbars, Auto Hoodstands, Auto trans cases, B-80 carcass with trans, upper/lower steering gear and blocks/ on and on and on and on......I really HATE the idea of scrap metal...but thats what will probably happen. Way too much for met to take to the show, although I may take a few heavy / bulky things...not sure. Anyway, would someone here care to come and buy the ENTIRE LOT OF PARTS.... then you can dispose of them as you please. Send me an email at: daveoman@windstream.net

I am a 516H owner. I'm 32 years old. I inherited my Tractor 🚜 from my father a few years back. He decided to purchase a 56' cub cadet to mow his 5 acres. It still takes a long time to mow but he takes his time. My wife and I moved to a home with 2.3 acres. The Eaton 700 is taking a dump. I'll most likely be posting in the want section for the 1100 set up. I know this is what I need after the research I've done here. So, Hello and thanks for any advice and the warm welcome I expect from this great forum.

I've read many of your post and thank you for being a great resource to RedSquare, I hope you will continue to be part of the community as your health allows. Of course I understand we all must slow down at some point in life. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Yes, very sorry to hear about this. I wish you well Dave and thank you for answering several questions that I have had about these little red things. Wish I had a place to put all of it but I don't. Please take care of yourself as that is the most important thing. Thanks again, Richie

I have used several for quite a few years now. Great tool to have and accurate. The complaint I have is that if you have them for a few years , eventually the internal non replaceable battery dies and then that is it for it. I have opened some of my units which is not easy and replaced the battery which is encased in epoxy. It has worked but of course they are no longer waterproof. There is now a knock off of them that have a replaceable battery and cost substantially less. I will see if I find the link for them.

Don't want to be "stoned" off this site but wanted to show you the last restoration (working tractor) I finished with a Sears Suburban SS15 which was covered but in the "woods" for 20+ years. Was totally worth the effort and the thump of the OLD B&S 15 is a Joy...... Here's some Before and Afters Everything from the carb to the transmission need work but it was and is a solid as a rock......!

As much as I like the garden tractors, I have a few and have own probably literally 100s over the years, I always wanted a bigger tractor. My first choice would be a John Deere two cylinder one, like a H, M, 40, or maybe a L or LA, but most I've seen are above my budget, and most of the ones that I've seen for sale, except the L and LA which hardly ever come up for sale, are tri-fronts, which I hate. My second choice has always been a Farmall Cub, preferably the earlier red standard ones. So, I have been on the hunt for one. I've seen and drove several over the past several weeks. I narrow it down to a '52 and a '47. I ended up choosing the '47 mainly because of the owners. They are an elderly couple who are now developing health related issues. They have the Cub and a Farmall M that they take to shows and parades, but now have to quit and sell off their tractors. He is a retired mechanic, so the tractors are in great shape, cosmetically and mechanically. He is going deaf and she is now in the early stages of Alzheimer's. She fell and hit her head on the M at their last show, so they knew it was time to stop. They are a great couple, honest, and really nice people. I felt like I would be honored to own their little Cub and so the choice on which one I would buy was really influenced by them. I know you shouldn't be influenced by emotion when purchasing things, but it just felt right. I found a couple of tractors that had wheel weights, implements, and attachments, but the tractor had to be right. I can always buy implements over time when they become available, plus I'm just north of JP Tractor Salvage in Fredricktown, Missouri which has the rear wheel weights for $65 a set, and I have a set of the front wheel weights that I have been using on the rear wheels of my garden tractors. JP has plenty of implements and/or can get them in as they get new inventory all the time. 1947 was the first year of the Cub.

Sorry to hear that your health is forcing you to leave the hobby. I too hope that you will still hang around here to share the knowledge you have gained over those 40+ years with others, but the most important thing is to take care of yourself

Man does that bring back some memories. My dad bought a 1947 or 48 (never was sure of the year) back in 1962. I was 12 years old and thought I was Mario Andretti when he taught me how to operate it. As a young teenager, I plowed snow, plowed the garden, used the sickle bar, and anything else that my dad wanted me to do. My brother still has it and had plans to restore it, but like many other projects, life gets in the way.

Dave, I also am sorry to hear this news. You have been helpful to me personally. Hope you will hang around RS giving your great advice and spreading your vast knowledge after you are able to dispose of the hardware or most of it. Someone you might consider is contacting Lincoln at A-Z Tractor who is a member here at RS and a PA resident. Since he is a WH salvager and parts supplier, he might be a possible candidate for at least some of your stuff. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/169-a-z-tractor/ Just a suggestion. Regards, Steve

A friends grandfather drove a flat bed most of his adult life. When he made a delivery without a pick-up for the return run, he always carried with him and strapped down a Tonka Dump Truck in about the center of his flat bed for the return trip. That way he was never running empty!

I thank you all for your kind words...sincerely, thanks. What a great group to be in. After some consideration, I may be at the show after all. It seems my long-bed S-10 will handle the trip, with bigger bulky / heavy parts in the bed. Engines, hoods, seat pan, etc. Not certain though. Anyway.,...someone suggested I need to pay a $10 fee to the WHCC in order to sell parts at the the BIG SHOW. Not a problem, but how do I do that. ?? ? ? Of course, I am a paid member of RS and have been for years. NEXT Q: I've no idea what to ask for 'hands-on' parts like: C-160 hood, Raider Hood, B-C series fender pan, 520-H Hood, 52-0-H fender pan, 8hp briggs, 12hp Kohler, (3) Kohler command 20 (v-twin) in boxes. Any clues?????

Dave, Sorry to hear about your health issues. I too wish you well, and will miss the line "please contact me via direct email: daveoman@windstream.net" In a similar vein, I understand your situation. Since my spinal surgery, I have been forced to look at most things in a different light. I've looked at my stock of parts and tractors and come to the realization that I just can't do what I want to do any longer either. Full restorations are out of the question. I decided that this is the year that all my parts, all of my unrestored tractors, and even a couple of my restored tractors will be coming to the show to find new homes. It's not a fun decision, but one that I knew was inevitable. I'm not giving up the hobby, and I will still be active on RedSquare, as well as coming to shows, but just pulling stuff out of the shed and loading it on the trailer has been quite the chore. Please look me up at the show this week end.

I'm sorry to hear you're leaving the Wheel Horse hobby Dave, and especially sorry to hear about your health. I always look forward to reading your comments, you just always seem to be able to get right to the point and tell us all what we need to know. I don't know how many times I've looked at your photos (with the circles and arrows), and realized "Oh, THAT'S what we're talking about here!". I can't help you with your inventory, but I'm sure it will work out for you. Hope to see you at the show!

Congrats T-Mo! I have also been looking for a nice Cub for yrs. now. My brother had a few of them a few yrs. ago that were nice like yours. They have such a nice sound to them, almost pleasant sounding to the ear... Lots of fun to put to some work as well. Like a Wheel Horse they become a part of the family, I bet the elderly couple was very happy to see the Cub go to a good home.

I am all loaded up and ready to roll. Just need to load camping stuff .. I had the 420 on the trailer but took it off due to forecast. I installed an nos seat and steering wheel and don't want to have to worry about keeping those dry. Trying to simplify more each year but I have issues....
