Well, I haven't posted a lot lately since life seems to have taken over. As many of you know, my son suffered a stroke before birth and technically has cerebral palsy. You would never know to meet him. We were lucky enough to get him enrolled in a medical study to help him gain use of his right hand through Virginia Tech and Carrillion Research center. He is one of about 140 kids from around the world to be chosen. He has a cast on his arm and hand he favors to force him to use his affected hand. We have had to move 2 hours from home 3 days a week. I thought it would be something fun for him to go get a cultivator from Limited12. Tommy has been a good friend for the last couple of years. When we got there, Emory wanted to look at Tommy's tractors. He really liked a couple of Lawn Rangers Tommy had. Before I knew it, Tommy and Emory were off talking about the tractors. They ended up flipping a penny for the tractors. Long story short, Tommy told Emory he would "sell" him both tractors for a penny! I couldn't believe how generous he was being. Needless to say, Emory was thrilled and can't stop talking about his tractors! I told a couple of girls I teach with about Emory's gift. One said, "That's proof that there really are truly nice people left in the world!" I know where a bunch of them are - right here on Red Square! I can't seem to get the site to let me upload any pics. I'll try again Sun. or Mon. when I'm back in cell range. Thanks Tommy for bringing a big smile to his face!

I spent the past week in the North woods. Beautiful weather, good friends, and the gobblers cooperated.

I bought a HF MC Lift and put a 39"(as I recall) wide 3/4 inch plywood top on it. The table has a 3/4 lip down the sides. I screwed 1x2 to the bottom of the board and it fits perfectly within the lip and prevents the top from shifting. Works really well. The few times I have had a project occupying the lift and had to work on a tractor on the ground, it really made me appreciate the lift! The mini tire changer works pretty well for front tires, but rear tires are still quite a gut wrencher. But better than two tire irons on the ground. The chain hoist mounted on a unistrut trolley sure makes handling engines a snap.

I also have one of these small lift tables from HF and it is a real back saver. You can roll it under a (side to side without a deck on) used the foot pedal to bring it to a comfortable height. Also great for loading heavy items into a pick-up truck. For blade changing etc. I use the engine hoist and a sling.

Check your engine. I believe you have a 1 1/4" npt exhaust port and it is reduced to 1" npt so you could use 1 1/4" or reduce it like they did. I doubt they did that for the added back pressure but rather so they could use the same muffler as the lower hp motors.

That's a X300 series lawn tractor and yes, just like any lawn and garden tractor, they can and will get stuck in ditches. I had to pull my 520-H out the other day with my JD GX345. It happens to all brands, all colors, even the 4WD SCUTs and CUTs. Sometimes people tend to lose a bit of logic and think they can go anywhere because it's a "tractor".

Well I certainly don't need any more but the cuz and I couldn't pass on this mostly original 1276 . I believe the seat and three spoke steering wheel aren't correct . It did come with a snowblade , chains , and a homemade plough . The handle on the hood was free ... the owner was 98 years old and needed it to get on . Kinda feel bad for what We paid though he'd would having taken less . ! He also had manuals and a couple brochures to go along with it !!! More pics to come...she went right to the stables new mechanic for a full service . and as a bonus...

Hey guys. My phone died just as I realized I needed to renew my supporter status. Been here so little lately that I didn't realize it had lapsed! Anyway, Emory wanted me to run back out in cell range to share his pictures. His smile says it all and I don't think he'll ever forget this experience. He wants to come to the show again this year, but that is in question due to my dad having to have prostate surgery. Just wanted to share our story! Good night!

I am converting my GT-14 from electronic ignition to points. I just finished putting the points in my GT-14 from another Kohler engine with a broken rod. I drilled a hole in the plug where the plunger goes and pulled it out with a drywall screw. Then I cleaned up the screw holes with a 10-24 tap Then I mounted the points and gapped them to .020 and installed the cover. Next I need remove the stator and wiring and install the one from the other motor. to everyone for the great tips and information!

If any of you guys can get to Euclid Ohio, these guys usually have lift tables. https://hgrinc.com/?all=1&view&aisle&from&to&markdowns&newarrivals&sort&kw=Lift Table&per_page=24&min_price&max_price&pn=1 I got a nice one with no motor but hydraulics intact and then added a Harbor freight hydraulic pump/motorized used on their car lift, It goes 42' high and no way will any bike or Wheel Horse ever tip it over no matter where on the lift you place it. The lift itself weighs 880 pounds and lifts one ton, so it is a step above Harbor Freight. Press the button and it is to full height in about 20 seconds My only caution is to know whether or not the thing operates on three phase electric. One guy even recessed his lift into the floor and uses it as a low rise to work on cars. These industrial lifts will definitely lift to their stated rating. My Southworth is made in New England and they still carry parts for it Even those smaller 48"x48" units could have their tops extended with little danger of tipping. I use mine all the time. Here it is being used to R&R a rear end that has bad hubs and axles at the keyways. I used the lift to gently raise and lower the rear end with the tractor frame hung from the ceiling.

Well, I still have to adjust it, but here it is: I'm not so sure that this will see active duty just yet, it's just way too clean, would hate to get it dirty!

Depends on the model of WH, and the rear offset on the wheel rim. I have a set of Cub Cadet rims on on my C-120 with Ag tires, but they wouldn't fit on a WH with Auto trans because the hydro pump sticks out farther than the 8 speed trans. Also, might not fit on a C-121 or a 312 because the fuel tank under the seat is wider than the older models with just a tool box under the seat. If the wheel rim rear offset is 1 1/2 to 2 inches, good chance it will fit using a 8.50 or 9.50 wide tire, assuming the 5-hole bolt pattern of correct. Early Sears wheels and some other older brands also seemed to use the same rims. Measure twice, and buy once. Jim

I have seen a couple modified HF motorcycle lifts, but I want to build something similar, but would like to have access from the bottom side as well. A scissor style lift which would give you access to the blades on a mower deck or draining fluid from the engine or transmission. Most of all something that saves my back and knees. I figure I have all the tools to make something similar to the harbor freight unit and I wouldn't have any more into it but my time and that's a trade off to have it customized to suit my needs. If anyone has done this or has idea's and suggestions, fire away. I thought about a table and ramps with a front mounted winch, but with a little more effort and ingenuity???? like you say step on a foot pedal air valve and up, up and away

I finally got back to see what the deal was/is on the D series, to my surprise it has the snow blower, plow and mower deck with it as well as runs albeit poorly (they don't have time to "fiddle" with it keeping up with the business) and yes it would be for sale $2500 for the package, Jeff.

Too much stuff to post pictures on the forum. We don't know where we're moving yet so I'm renting two storage units. One for the house things and be for the garage-yard items. Forty years of marriage and we've accumulated a lot of stuff 😬 We have an offer on our house so we're praying like crazy and keeping our fingers crossed. I've got the list done if anyone wants it, email me at burleyfarm@yahoo.com Or click on this file. Fun Engineer Project tractors and parts for sale.pdf.pdf

A lot of guys make their stacks. Example: The grab handle from a bathroom stall makes a great stack. They are stainless steel and can be polished to a great shine.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum (very thankful to have found it) and a fairly new Wheel Horse owner. I believe my tractor is an early 1960's E32 Lawn Ranger. I haven't been able to pin point the age or exact model yet. Here is the problem I am currently having. My barn find did not have an engine so I used a predator 212cc as a replacement. I have found a pretty good pulley for the engine, but seem to be having trouble finding the best length to utilize the clutch/brake function. I have moved the engine back a bit to allow clearance for the hood. I have two 1/2" v-belts that I am trying to work with, one is a 61" and the other is a 62". I have also read and recently learned that the belt cover must be on to make sure the belt doesn't spin off. However, I can't seem to get the rear transmission pulley to stop spinning when I engage the clutch pedal. The belt definitely seems loose enough when using the 62" since it will literally fall off when I engage the pedal all the way. It even seems a bit loose when only pressing half way down. Anyway, I have posted a few pics to show what I am talking about. Any help on proper belt tension would be greatly appreciated. Glad to be here!

That takes up a lot less room than mine. I like that. But I like that I have a place to set all my tools down while I work too! That works with a deck on? Doesn't look wide enough to make it to the center. Interesting. I may need one of those too! Would like to see a pic of a atop that bad boy! I can't read...Without a deck on....As Roseanne Roseannadanna said....Nevermind!

You can get it at any dealer, got mine from Peerless in New Fairfield, CT. They're still available in the depot. I'm cleaning up the 416-H now in hopes to have the deck attached this afternoon. Still not sure I'm ready to use it or not, but it'll sure look pretty!

A quick tip, to keep your new chrome from turning blue. Use a good quality hi temp spray paint, and coat the in side of the pipe or muffler, doesn't have to be even just a good coating. I have done this on motorcycle pipes for years and it works.

The other thing that's a must is a dust collector system. I purchased a cyclone unit that's mounted on a 5 gallon drop collection bucket that's all connected to a shop vac. It maintains a clear site window free of dust. clouds. The unit is left of my home made welding table down by the grinders

I use car ramps. I also run a fan at the deck. I oil it in the fall when done. I remove deck maybe twice a year and pressure washer it.

Don't listen to @Achto...he could make one out the roll of toilet paper in the stall! Ther is a couple of guys here who makes them as well if your not up to making your own. Bud Andrews comes to mind if he is still doing it and threres another member had them in classifieds not to long ago. I think he sells them on flea bay as well but CRS what his name is. Try a search on stack and you'll find all kinds of them.

Welcome to the forum. Interesting that your 5-0701-6 is a 1971 model. 6-5=1=1971. Did not know it was available in 1971. Belts and dimensions are on this page. Take care of those left hand blades. Garry

Worked on her a little this morning looks like the deck got ran into something, but nothing a little heat and persuasion can't fix Also removed the carb and breather for cleaning and also going to perform a valve adjustment upon reassembly. Pretty sure none of this has been done in a very long time.
