Picked up this 520 about 20 miles from home today. Thanks for the heads up TT. I don't think that I did do too bad for $400.

I've been saying I'll post pictures of the Horses new stable but geez, this getting settled in is a lot of work. We still have a ton to do. Besides the unpacking I've been installing a water heater, a water softener, fixing a host of things and........ Anyways, this morning I replaced one of the garage door openers and when I was done it was time for some fun. A beautiful day and some grass screaming "cut me!!". Although I don't have any tractors pictured you can get a peek at their new home. Two 26'x32' garages gives me more room than I've had in 17 years. The one down the hill will be the main stable except for the snow movers going to the one by the house in the winter. I have to say that it sure is good to be back in Indiana with a bit of elbow room. I will get pictures of my babies grazing and even of that crapsman that was left here. I haven't had a chance to even touch it but it does have a 18hp Kohler Magnum on it and the neighbor said the previous owner had it out with the lawn vac last fall.

Time to go to the 'business' end of the loader. I have to be honest this was a pretty straightforward decision to make, the type of material I was going to be dealing with ment I wanted a bucket that was strong and didn't have a deep profile (a long bottom section). If it was to be used for mulch, snow or lighter materials my choice would have been wrong, but I needed it to load dung, spread scalpings and sometimes soil or Cotswold stone. Of course shallow profile would mean less capacity unless it was relatively wide. Local to me there is a 'tractor & plant' dealer who carries a very large stock of second hand excavator buckets, backhoe buckets, well just about any plant bucket of any size you could imagine. So I went and had a browse... Yep don't hate me for it, but I bought a 48" John Deere bucket from a sub compact, as you can see from the pictures it had done nothing except be dented, it was rusted inside from catching rain for years. I paid £75 for it, which made it a no brainer. As you can see in the last pictures nice shallow bottom, even see the stencils on the wearing edge! I haven't weighed it yet, but I wouldn't want it dropped on my foot. Let the bracket butchery begin...tomorrow.

Put a hydros kit on it this past winter and a few other odds and ends. Think it's my favorite now.

I definitely have a M&G in the back of my mind. I don’t see it happening this summer though. I have way too much to do. Aside from the usual, half of the house needs to be rewired. You can see the two distinct ‘halves’ of the house. The original half on the left was built in 1935. A lot of you know what type of wiring was used back then. Add that to 80+ years of homeowner add ons and modifications and I’ve discovered a mess. It needs a complete rewire. Fortunately, the newer addition to the right was done in 2002 is in pretty good shape other than where the previous owner did a few things………. The tractors wanted to pose. The 500 Special lives in this garage because it isn't done and can't be driven right now. It would be easy to get it down to the lower garage but it would have to be towed back up. Hopefully I can get it finished before winter. I could be wrong but I think Deltona may be on a bit of an upswing. There's a lot of building going on and homes are flying off the market. It only took us 6 days. Richie, I hope it all works out for you. If not for family the Carolinas would likely be for us as well. Thanks all for the kind words.

Great looking place Bob. Yes....... I see a meet & greet coming. We can have "The Big Show" and "The Bob Show". Looks like you would have plenty of room. As far as retiring to Florida.....ugh! I am south of Deltona in the quickly going to crap section of central Florida. Hopefully 5more years and the wife retires then we are going to try and sell and head to South Carolina. I hate it here anymore. Ready for a change. Congratulations Bob!

With a property like that, Deltona should already seem like just a bad dream. Congratulations on making the move Bob! A beautiful location for the Horses to tend to! Edit: Bob, now that you are safely clear of Deltona, I'll give my impression for any of you guys thinking of retiring to Florida... I attended Deltona Jr. High School in the early 70's. Deltona was built out in three phases. I spent many hours 10-speed bicycling through paved but undeveloped areas two and three of Deltona during those years. I still remember my only spotting of a Florida Lynx with a cub in her mouth crossing the road in front of me one day. That was -43- years ago! The original crop of Northern retirees in Deltona are long gone twice over. The housing boom crash of 2008 brought in big money investors that turned a substantial portion of foreclosed homes into rental properties. This has the expected negative result on the character of the community. The big money investors don't seem to be selling their rental properties back to individual owners to this day... If I were looking to retire to Florida on less that a multi-millionaires budget, The Villages would be my first choice. It is still a 'first wave' of retirees community. I shudder to think what the place will look like in 30 years, but by then it is someone else's problem.

He's hawking the PTO already in the classifieds. I gotta be honest, I smell a troll. All you've done is come in here and taunt people with the fact that you are gonna romp a nice tractor around in the mud, likely destroying it. You got it for $12.50, congrats. If you want to sell it, put the parts back on it and list it here. I would guess $200-400 range is reasonable for what I see assuming it all works as good as you say (though I would hardly consider that bodywork "flawless" as you say). If you gonna mud it, go do it and stop trolling here trying to get a rise outta people. Hate to see it happen, but no skin off our backs. If you need help fixing it, stop on by any time. As it has already been said, this here is a wonderful bunch of honest people that will help you get it working again.

I thought it might be time for an update on my health status. The past several months have seen me in and out of the hospital for several issues, the latest being fluid retention in my abdomen. The problem has been that I can't get rid of this fluid which is caused by my malfunctioning liver and other organs leaking into the cavity. So far they have take fluid from me by paracentesis which is where they insert a long needle int the cavity then hook it up to vacuum bottles that suck the fluid out. The first time they took five liters. The next time they took ten which is all they can take at one time. The last time it was 7. I will have another one tomorrow. The reason for the most recent hospital stay was o try more aggressive treatment. Now they have upped my dose of lasix to 40 mg twice a day which should help greatly to take it away. This all seems to be working so they packed me up and sent me home yesterday. So there you have it. If you are interested I will try to keep you up to date better than I have. I intend to stay on as a Moderator as long as the powers that be will have me. It has been and continues to be a pleasure to help out. Thank you all.

That is about $ 100 US, could't build it for that. We will forgive the green color knowing you will make it RED soon.

Could be the carburetor. If you haven't taken it apart to clean it, the float valve may be stuck closed. You can also take the hose off from the pump to the carburetor, have someone turn the engine over and see if gas is spurting out of the pump. If not, be sure that when the new pump was installed that you placed the lever on top of the camshaft and not under it.

Yes, we do. The addition has a walk out basement with a deck off the upper floor. We've met the neighbors across the road, to the north of us (they like to shoot so that's a plus) and behind us on the other side of the woods. Shortly after we moved in they hiked through the woods and brought us a still warm loaf of homemade bread and some homemade preserves. The neighbors to the south seem.....well.....not so neighborly but that's only from a few words they had with my wife and daughter. That big barn in the first picture is theirs and is right on the property line. Their house is a historic mansion about 200 yards away. The barn intrigues me. I've been told it's full of old tractors. Being less than 2 miles from the old Wheel Horse factory it makes me wonder.

Hey, I'm real good at taking orders...ask my wife. She places the order, and I get to it in the order that they are received. If anything Bob, I will be coming over to help you put in a sand trap and green on the far end of the beautiful fairway. That place looks like home already. And all that RED goes with the siding.

I can do a lot of damage to plumbing, wiring, and nails. Drywall dust is in my blood. Let us know when the party starts. ... Oh yeah, I forgot, you are 650 miles away. All kidding aside, that's a great looking place you have there Bob.

Very nice place Bob Such Florida bashing, but I can understand the growth issue. My property taxes have skyrocketed due to the increasing property values. Bob, you might have to move over in Indianan, or at least start shipping me some horses to Texas!,

Nice video Scot, thanks Go to your local hardware store or big box and browse the selection of 3/8 NPT (national pipe thread) nipples found in the plumbing isles. They should have them in black iron or galvanized it doers not matter which you choose. You should also find elbows and hex caps there too. What you showed is original as every horse I have that is original has exactly what you showed. Some do drain out the front tho. I often add a 45 degree ell or a 90 to get the drain oil away from the frame and into a suitable container. My single goal in life is to do a simple oil change just once without making a mess! I have seen some guys put a valve in there to make oil changes easier put you still want to cap or plug it. You don't want to have that valve bumped open while enjoying seat time! Here is one of my oil drain piping jobs. I do this on all of my outdoor power stuff to make oil changes easier.

That's a lot of grass to cut Bob...I see a 60 incher in your future! Hopefully you have a horse to run back and forth from the house to the lower barn. Keep at it and you'll get caught up on things. Looks like you might have more than enough room for a M&G ahem cough cough!

Having two Daughters it looks like girls keep flowing in our family. This is our oldest Grand Daughter HENNY She loves the Horses even if they don't have an engine on them, She even had her picture IN LAGC Mag She will have the pick of the Stable when I am gone. Many years have past, we have definitely had some good times. I guess these Horses have a good way of helping doing that.

There are some great looking kids with the tractors. Some of you guys may want to lock up the horses at night, the youngsters will be out racing thru the neighborhoods .

Real nice Bob! Have you got a deck on the back for evening lounging and looking out on that pasture? Might be some nice sunsets there! Didn't you catch what Jeff mentioned about FREE labor?!? I'm pretty good with wiring & Stevasaurus is pretty good with giving orders. Now if we can get him to take orders...... orders for adult beverages that is! Ah while you guys are all here mind given me a hand with ??? Forgot to ask how are the neighbors? You know what they say ,,, you can pick your nose and your seat but you can't pick your neighbors!

Well not quite but I will try the armature from the other one and see if that solves the problem. I probably would have saved a lot of time and aggravation by buying a known good one. But my pride and frugality won't let me. If it all works out then I can say it's one more thing I have knowledge in now. Knowledge is power so they say.

That is the reason we are in North Carolina rather than Florida. We bought a small citrus grove West of Ft. Pierce, Florida as a retirement home site, twenty years later it was nearly down town. We did make a nice profit on it and the part of North Carolina we live in is remote enough that it should remain rural the rest of our lives.

See the pics in the previous post showing what I ended up doing. The local auto parts store had a crimper I borrowed. It worked well.

Finished assembly on the blade. It turned out pretty decent. I'd say it's about a 10 footer but it's mechanically sound and should do a nice job.

Well here we are again, update time. @Lee1977 I know I mentioned the cat earlier, but to avoid any confusion that's not a giant kitty litter tray, 'er indoors has a couple of horses and that was just about 18 months of their 'accumulations'. No sign yet of the cat, but let me tell ya, you won't be able to miss it when it makes its appearance. @elcamino/wheelhorse I'm glad your enjoying this topic, and yes I'm with you, just making something complex doesn't always make it better. Over the metric system, l just find it easier, it's all about what you've been brought up with. So, very brief tonight... PTO engagement level, cut the rod length down, drilled through the bonnet support and added a second tab for the lever to pivot on, it falls nicely to hand. Just a couple of pictures to finish tonight showing how the back end is taking shape. I haven't done it yet, but I'll be making a guard for the pump/pulley/belt. More tomorrow.
