Left side on the one right on the other and always show them nose to nose. Then you only need one set.

Nah, It was 72 degrees here today and I cut two dead blue spruce and needed a horse to drag em to the burn pile. The 520 blower happens to be at the front of the line, so he got the call.

I don't think you should use them on either one; they would look great on my Suburban!

So I received my pristine NOS hub caps from a friend (non-forum) in Indiana. I am going to put them on either: 1972 Raider 12 or my 1966 1276 So if this were your choice, WHICH tractor would you put them on? Let me know what you think.

Before I began my horse hobby I rebuilt chainsaws. Poulans, homelites, mccolluch, Dolmar, jonsereds, pioneer, husqvarna and Stihl. I started with the older USA saws, cause they were cheap to buy and easy to work on. At my peak I had probably 50 saws, I'm at half that now. I've sold 300 or so over 10 years. I also burn wood. Luckily I work grounds at a private highschool on 150 acres of wooded area. So here's what I did today. First I dropped a leaning oak, 40' got hung up and pulled it with our bob cat tool cat. Next was an ash 30', easy drop nice wood ready to burn. Used my 3450 poulan (60cc 16"x3/8") and my super pro 380 same saw as above just yellow that saw has a 20" bar. These saws are pro saws and are a joy to run. Mill be posting more pics of tree work and saw projects

Well, I'm thinking if you sell me your 1276, then I can put my NOS hub caps on it, and you can put yours on the raider. Then both WHs will have NOS caps! Boom, problem solved.

We've all been concerned with JimD's disappearance from the forum, and not because he's a great Moderator. Today on FaceBook, Jim posted a new status: So our thoughts and prayers are with him on a speedy recovery. Hope to see you back soon @JimD

Guess that's why I put it out to vote. I figure the answers would vary. That's what I love the best about attending tractor shows, especially ones that have all brands (don't worry the WHCC is by far my favorite), I like seeing why some did this or did that and why they picked the particular tractor they have, etc. I kind of thought guys would differ on the which tractor with that particular style cap. I'm picky, but I'm not "hard core purist" on things like bolt heads (sorry Jim ), etc. Depends on what it is. Either way I liked all the varied replies Nice caps!! So where do you live and when won't you be home?

obone I am redoing this tractor with all the original bolts. I just wire brushed them and clear coat. Looks ok to me just my . Enjoy what ever you feel is right to you.

HHCS = hex head cap screw Once upon a time I was able to determine the bolt sizes of most of the hardware used by Wheel Horse. If you get stuck post the part number and will see what I have. E-clips and most retaining rings are manufactured by stamping. If you look closely at them one side has rounded edges and the other side has sharp edges. They must be installed so the sharp edge is the side against the outer side of the groove in most cases. Make the sharp edge do the retaining after determining which way the forces are applied. Garry

After much thought ...1276 gets my vote ! But with saying that I also think it deserves a grader blade to show off those hydraulics . Those are are some sweet machines and pics don't do them justice . They're truly stunning works of art seeing them in person !

The 1276 gets my vote....luv that hood design.
  21. 4 points
I think I would say the 1276 if I had to pick... but I think it would look best with the older style painted center chrome caps...
  22. 4 points
Zeet, I like both tractors without the hubcaps. That's my vote. Very sweet machines. Glenn

Sorry for the delay, had to catch up after being off work for four days Always good seeing those who were there. Side Note: Classic Tractor Fever was there and is going to have my Raider 12 on on their show and in their 2018 calendar Told my wife I'm moving to Hollywood. This was some of the filming Some show pictures. 1st was set up day . . . this was early on before many got there. This was ONE of four halls. Days before everything had to be "safe" The biggest freakin hit & miss I ever saw . . . makes your chest thump when it rotates. Watching it being started was interesting, because when it fires off you GET OUT OF THE WAY Here it is running 20170217_101835.mp4 My $60 room with Mrs. Zeek and dog . . . nothing fancy, but 5 minutes from show and a diner in the parking lot next door for breakfast. Fridge for beverages The best burger I ever had at the Quentin Inn that was 2 minutes from the show and hotel

Thanks for the mounting ideas. I found a section of rubber trim that I used for around the hood rest on my Cub. It fits good and I think I can probably adjust it by prying either in or out on the tab a bit. I tried a little rubber cement on one to start to hold the trim on. It may not be necessary. The clips were fairly easy to get off with the exception of one or two. I'll see how they fit tomorrow and post a picture. Thanks for the opinions

I better keep my reply to my self as this is a family based forum. Don't want the moderators to have to edit my reply.

I've had this idea in my head for my 520H build (details coming soon) which I want the older hubcaps but as you know are hard to come by . I was wondering if @Vinylguy (Terry) could make some inlays for the newer hubcaps . I do have access to a vinyl plotter but she's super busy . This way there's no painting involved and wouldn't be permanent . What your guy's on this..? could be be a tedious job for both Terry and the end user to apply . Red or black (or combination of both) pinstripes in the circles , Wheel Horse letters in black or red , the horse in red with the black wheel with six black dots for the center . Personally I think they would be looking !

I know the painted center hubcaps with the Wheel Horse emblem were produced before the one's I have and I would have preferred to have a set of them for the earlier 1276, but I was unable to find a presentable set so far. Now that is a great idea! Not sure why that never occurred to me until you said it Time to go on the hunt for one If anyone here would consider selling one, please let me know. It looks like the 1276 has the most votes and was kind of the way I was leaning, but it is interesting hearing different thoughts about them. I suppose I'll try the fuel line/window trim method so they can be switched without screwing up the wheels, because if I get my hands on a set of the older painted center hubcaps, I'd probably put them on the 1276 and the newer ones on the Raider. Good point! Thanks for checking in old friend, good to hear from you

Don't put them on ether. I have a climate controlled living room they should be in. I would keep them safe for you. But if you must use them, the 1276.
  38. 3 points
I think the 1276 would look good with them. But both machines are very sharp I must add.
  39. 3 points
No brainer Zeek... definitely the 1276. Think I remember someone saying here... you could remove the clips, cut a slit length wise into a couple 1" pieces of fuel line... position a few of 'em around the caps perimeter, these will provide enough tension to hold 'em in the rim... and prevent scratching your rims all to hell when mounting them up. Worth a try.

When you live in the country it is best to have hardware on hand. Having other hobbies only makes it more necessary. Mil Veh like Gr8 NF, Farm Tractors like bigger stuff Lower Left is Gr8 NF Stainless and Galvanized, Upper left 1/4 to 3/8 various styles also nuts washers etc...yellow bins longer bolts 1/4 to 1/2" Lowery right 9/16 to 1-1/8" bolts nuts...There is a separate section not in photo for 5/8" nuts bolts. Some of us have horse addictions some other addictions

Zeek those horses are just beautiful. I sure like the looks of that wood grained Wheel Horse sticker on the 1276 hood. I'm going to be doing a freshin up on my 876...got to get a hold of Terry Dennis. Anyway, I vote for the 1276.
  48. 2 points
Well Zeek, you beat me hands down on the workmanship on both machines (Works of Art). If I had to decide, I would fit them to the Raider.......... Even though it has Dust Covers on the front, and the Chrome Covers as already mentioned, are the later unpainted logo versions. My reasoning is that you would have to keep pulling the front ones on the 1276 every time you needed to check the pressures (outside valves). What a dilemma to find yourself in !!.

I would prefer Raider 12 of the two but I like the look of tractors as they are.
