Ramp door must have been leaking. A long time by the way it looks. Linoleum trapped the moisture in. 

Spent two days ripping out rotted wood and replacing.  Not a huge job but 85 in the shade here. 

Cut the moldy linoleum out to the top of the dove tail and new underlayment to be coated with bedliner. Used treated lumber for all it's worth. 

Thanks for the heads up! That must have been leaking since new. Did you just notice mold or was it getting soft?

Ruger LCP .380. one of the older models.  I've painted the tiny fixed sites to help me in alignment, Green laser and Sneaky Pete holster.   I also have a Ruger LCP .22 with same set up.

 

The .380 is my CCW.  The green laser allows me to cluster shots about size of paper plate at 21 feet.  Which for me, who not a good shot, and 2.75" barrel suits me.  

 

I have carried this holster for more than two  years. On the net, many poo poo this style of  holster but it's exactly what I like.  Comfortable to wear, pretty easy to remove for locations that personal protection is not allowed.  I have never been asked what it's purpose is (even at church) and I have adapted it for other uses.  The holster came with a plastic liner that  helps hold the pistol in upright position. The liner wouldn't allow the pistol with laser installed to be inserted.  By removing original and making my own liner, the gun fits and as an added benefit, my New Testament Bible slides in perfectly.  This covers my needs as well as I can expect.  I normally carry my phone on a belt holster,  When CCW, the phone goes to shirt pocket and Sneaky takes it place. 

 

I purchased the .22 a year ago.  I have access to a large lot of ammo so when I go to the range or to the farm, I get much more practice time.  The .22 is not nearly as reliable but for plinking and practice, it works.

Tore open the Escape to start on the rocker repairs. It's worse than I thought.

 

The big issue is that what were sold as "full length rockers" did not include the arch at the front of the rear wheel well. The dog-leg is sold as a separate panel, and mos of the really bad rot is in that section.

 

I guess I'll work on something else this weekend.

Loading tractors for Symco noticed a soft spot. The upper corner of the door was bent in from dropping too hard so I believe the seal was compromised. What's worse is i stored the camper pitched to the back so I think melting snow ran in. More investigation is in order. Dan suggested some sort of drip shield above the door.

That will do it. I had a vehicle with one those cab visor deals on it. The silicone around the bolts broke down and if I parked it facing down hill in the rain I'd get wet when I drove away.

Pistols are harder to control than a long gun, and the short barrel makes them less consistent. When I take mine to the range I'm happy if I can take the target paper, hold it across my chest, and have all the holes inside the outline of my body. It might not be the kind of accuracy I want from a hunting rifle, but at least I didn't miss the bad guy.

Getting ready for a fishing trip - one problem I always face is finding a level spot for my Banjo burner. The fact that it has a circular base makes it hard to get level and be sturdy at the same time. If it's not perfectly level the oil in my 15" iron skillet runs to one side. So, while I had my welder out, I decided to remedy that problem.

@adsm08   a door and related rocker , trunk , tailgate  from the inside top  edge , for full coverage , lubrication creep , easy  and protective . marvel at the newer trucks , with cab , fender wells , tailgates , rotted out , MAC,S   CABLE  ,GEAR SPRAY , FOLLOWED WITH  OPEN GEAR SPRAY , NAPA . first lighter  oil will creep and stain / wet , showing you tracking , days later  heavier over spray  , will be carried by  lighter oil .  all my doors , tailgate , trunk , have atop to bottom oil film , at every seaming area , bottom of cars also , zero rot / rust . showed my grandson how to mineral oil  his car finish , perfect patina . initial  closed areas , spray from inside top of door , so  run down effect covers the entire make up of door with  nozzle extension tube . been doing this since starting to drive . the same basic  lighter oil  is also terrific  on  faded wheel horse paint , my 3 horses have been easily buffed out ,  go oily , pete

Busy as hell here today. Started out with an hour workout.

Trina and I did a one hour resistance training workout this morning. The gym is finally taking shape and getting cleaned up and organized. Body weight movements on the mats. Heavier motions on the rack.  

 

 

Had a great breakfast/brunch. Our own eggs, organic Australian ground beef, aged Dublin cheddar cheese. The hash brown is lovely. Lots of protein here. 

 

 

Got the big air compressor moved yesterday. Today I got the hose reel all on.

 

 

 

Then switched to getting the last couple long bolts 🔩 in the pole trailer. The two closest ones to the tires. They're the only bolts that go through all four crossed layers so they're integral to the structural strength of the whole unit. 

 

 

 

 

Trina and her momma been working on firewood. 

 

 

The chickens 🐔 are 🔥 🥵   and relaxing.

New metal first. Then lubrication and water displacement can be worried about.

 

I did not own this vehicle for most of it's life. It's the second time I've owned it, but I've only had it 4 years out of 15. Also, unfortunately, the rockers were designed to rot out like this on purpose.

I'm going to have to start worrying about that soon as well. That means getting the Escape put back together sometime before Christmas.

 

Although I'm really hoping the new shop is up by then. Even if the floor isn't in I can store stuff/park there.

Today we went out to the very end of Long Island, to Montauk. The sport fishing capital of the world, some say it was the inspiration for the movie Jaws. We had lunch at a nice restaurant at the inlet to Montauk harbor watching the pleasure and commercial fishing boats come and go. I’m sure most of you know the Billy Joel song Downeaster Alexa. The boat in the last two pictures is that boat, the “Alexa” it’s actually his own boat. It’s docked a few towns to the east in Sag Harbor. I didn’t realize that was it until it was well past us. Quite possible it was him running the boat because he is known to captain his own vessel. Way off on the horizon is the Connecticut shoreline.

Took the doggy for an about 30 min walk around the property then gave her a water break in grandpas garage. When re stocking the stand this morning I found I weird squash in the garden. I called it exotic!  Sold some stuff at the farm stand, Rototiled the garden, and bled the brakes on my quad.

We slept in.  Once we got moving, we went down to the lake house, mixed a couple bloody Marys, and fired up the Blackstone to cook a breakfast scramble out on the deck.

 

Bulk sausage, onions,  garden cherry tomatoes, hash browns, and eggs.  Salt, pepper, horseradish, ground cumin, cumin seed, and diced jalapeños were used for seasoning.

 

Oh, I also did some raking in the back yard and replaced the furnace filter so I can say I did something useful today.
