@Pullstart potential project really intrigues me, so I have done some digging and thinking as to how I might construct the beast. 

 

The 4 door wheelbase is 122 inches.  The 2001 2500HD wheelbase ranges from 133 inches to 166 inches.  Kevin wants to put the axle on the centerline of the trunk for 5th wheel towing.  I will assume that the donor chassis is 133".

 

@953 nut how far did you move the rear axle when you doctored the pictures?  If it was 10 inches, it looks like the hitch is going to be really close to the edge of the back window.

 

Since the station wagon rear window is closer to vertical, a set of station wagon rear doors, bits of station wagon roof, rear window, and tailgate would make more room for the hitch. 

 

Another idle thought - would Chevy 4 door wagon roof and doors graft directly onto the Pontiac.  They would bprobably be easier to source than Pontiac parts.

 

This would make a great discussion and possible build thread of its own, rather than cluttering up this thread.

No measurements were used, I just slid the wheel well opening back as far as I could without interfering with the bumper. With the larger tires not going up into the wheel well too far the centerline of the rear axle could go back a bit further without looking freakish, not that this won't look a bit abnormal anyway.

I wish I had had the opportunity to speak with the owner of that ‘66 GTO and get the information about the color—including the name.  I would guess that it was something from the vast GM color palette 🤔

This has sat long enough.  1984 S10 short bed, 305/700R4, stock bore, mild cam, the perfect stance.
 

By 10 am this morning, I had dug into the barn far enough to air up the tires.  

 

By noon, Rylee and I had it pressure washed.

Had an 88 S-10 like this only dark blue. Bought it at the dealer I worked at when I got married. Picked it up after our honeymoon. 4.3 TBI with the 700R4 and 3:53 gears. Snapped your neck leaving the stop light. Towed our travel trailer to Pocono Raceway with the bed full of firewood. Got over 20MPG with the AC on!

Since we’re sharing muscle cars, here is My father’s 67 Mustang coupe It has a 68 302 with a 4 speed. It’s a transplanted 6 cylinder car that he and I and one of my three brothers helped him swap. It’s eventually going to be a clone of the Mustang he had in high school. he’s about 3/4 of the way now to that,  but it still needs work.

My 1st brand new vehicle was a 1991 S10 Tahoe. I was 18yrs old. Had 4.3 w/3:42 posi rear end. Did a few performance bolt ons to engine, headers, exhaust,  shift kit, etc. It ran pretty good after that. Lowered trucks were the trend at that time.

I grabbed these 2017 Corvette Z06 wheels and tires for $250 today.  $100 worth of spacers and they should fit the S10!
