Yeah,

i have shop OCD that kicks on when I’m not actively trying to hit a deadline.

As I’m setting up my shop out here in Tater land, I couldn’t resist cleaning it up and painting it to match my Harbor Freight double stack and my Quincy.

We like it here quite a bit.

Although we went through a 2-3 week period hovering at 100 degrees in summer. Whether dry or humid, 100 is freakin HOT.

Bunch of health issues I’m putting to bed but those would have been an issue no matter where we reside.

Getting the shop about ready to tackle the final tear down and final finish assembly on GT22-8. Then I plan on installing aluminum gas Tank that @19richie66 son made up for me on my GT16 restomod. Gonna install bearings in the tunnel uprights and replace bushings while I’m at it. Then I will start looking for an old muscle car or truck to restore.

Any pictures of this? I'd like to see what it looks like! Has to be a vast improvement over the garbage plastic tank!

I believe Ritchie, @19richie66, probably posted a pic of same when he did his Skittles restoration.

Agreed.

We don't use plastic tanks on our builds.

Just don't like the look of them....

Do you build the metal tanks yourself?

The tanks on GT-14's were the worst design on the planet.

I did a thread that fixes the main problem of the nipple splitting. Cut it off, drill it out and use a Furl grommet like on the newer models.

No.

Parts shelf finds.

But none of ours are GT14s..... Yet.

I followed your thread when I first started messing with my G-14 (which I have neglected to touch for the past year) and repaired the nipple, but even after that, it's still a large plastic tank in very close proximity to hot exhaust. My tank is deformed quite a bit from the muffler and is also cracked along the top seam. I plastic welded it but it didn't hold up well.

@ZXT
Here are pics of the three that we have made so far. Mine works great for me. I know the other two haven’t been installed yet. Waiting to hear how they like them. They are a little smaller than stock. Holds a little over 4 gallons.

@mr biggs please shoot me a pm and we can talk about it. I’m in the process of moving so a lot of my stuff is packed up. I am going to try and make a couple more soon. I need one for my next gt14. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Now that is is an excellent looking fuel tank! If I ever get any attachments for my GT to make it actually be a useful tractor I might be interested in one!

If your ever driving through Idaho, bring truck and I’ll sell you a GT14 rototiller.

Otherwise, install a modern mule and mid attach-a-Matic set up and you can find plenty of attachments.

Had intentions of asking you before how you use your vise and what it is mounted on? What type of work is it used on?

I use it for everything.....but ideally not to hammer or wrench overly hard on.

I had it attached to a woodworking workbench I had made on the far left side. It worked excellent.

When I sold my home in NY, I let them keep the workbench since it was bolted on the wall on back side but pulled the vice.

Building a new bench for my new shop is on my list of projects.

As I did crack this one, which I was able to repair fully, i did get into restoring quality vises this past winter so I have a correct vise for each needed purpose.

I will post some pics of them shortly.

So here are some pics of the 3 vises I restored this winter. Also restored an RCBS A2 old school reloading press that I will use for swaging and at some point sizing 50 BMG5669945A-813A-4700-A22B-7BFA95E001C4.jpeg.d981976f13e9ee2527f58c64082453ef.jpegB3C8127E-0845-4799-BEE1-C5714DB2916A.jpeg.047fc562039e1435e43568794aa2689b.jpegFBEADCEF-72B8-4D9D-9B40-1B28B3938E7D.jpeg.7a1930c95ec1d0aba41a013208ed545e.jpegE05AC16A-4CF2-465A-A826-79644B5E714D.jpeg.268840a057d034ad62aaf5c9afb54477.jpeg70B66074-D339-4312-BFC0-A07C4549EEE1.jpeg.ab60ac6f82a8b2b47f04222d546c09e4.jpeg

Very nice work on those vises. I always loved the Dunlops or Columbians from that era with the art deco decorations and the nicely rounded surfaces. Is the blue one a Record?

The pattern makers vises are really rather fragile if used or abused in a manner other than what they were designed for. Usually their final demise is a metal handle that allows the user to over tighten them breaking the jaws. Used within their intended function they have really no peer . I have collected and used  Emmerts most of my life and currently have two on my bench along with a machinists vise for metal work. There are enough of them here to avoid house being blown away in bad weather.

it is an English “Parkinson’s”.

extremely similar to “Record” but does not have the quick adjustment nut.
