The patina on this western truck was AWESOME! It had a clean interior and modern drivetrain! PeacemakerJack 10,743 #30 Posted July 13, 2018 We had a great time in spite of a couple of bursts of rain that lasted for around 15 minutes but it was mostly overcast which kept the nasty temps at bay until mid afternoon before the sun broke through. Richie—there were a whole bunch of the 1967-72 GM trucks there this year! It seems that that segment is growing more every year. Two wheel drive, four wheel drive, slammed to the ground, jacked to the sky, bone stock original, custom to the max, perfectly preserved patina, trailer Queen only paint, and the list could go on. I remember when a guy would only see a couple out of the thousands of vehicles there, yesterday we must’ve seen at least 50 of them! Mom came through by texting me some great pics which I’ll share here... I love this three generation pic of Dad, me, and Caleb! We are standing next to the actual car once owned by Reggie White and used in the film “Reggie’s Prayer”. Mom bought me an IH motor trucks hat and when we saw this one I had to get my pic taken by it wearing my new hat! Mom got an opportunity to meet a blast from her past—Eddie Munster! He was there by a clone of the Munstermobile signing autographs. Mom watched those shows as a kid! After one of the rain storms, we got out the shammies and were drying off the cars. I had forgotten how many little leak areas I have on the Goat diverting water into the trunk goes to show one of the reasons why I generally only drive it when the weather is good. Anyway, I was reflecting on how cool it was that dad, mom, Caleb, cousin paul and his friend Jolene could be there with cars to participate and not just spectate. The first 10 years that we went to the show only as spectators until 2001 when we showed my car and mom’s red and LeMans for the first time. I was talking with dad about it while we were working when I noticed this young lady had made several laps around my car. Then she stopped to ask me about it. That is when I noticed the cameraman. Turns out she works for a variety of muscle car rags and even internet and tv stuff and she is interested in doing a piece on the old Goat! I find that fascinating because the car is special to me and my family but isn’t that great compared to many cars there—condition wise, option wise, originality wise, etc. So, we exchanged contact info and we will see what comes of it. One of the highlights of the Day was to see the Fonz (Henry Winkler) in person! He was there signing autographs and hanging out with the folks— All in all a fun day and I feel honored and privileged to share it with my family and my RS wheel horse family too... 3 5 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Jerry has been an auto mechanic in our town for better than 30 years. He finally started building his own dream truck a few years back. It isn’t finished yet but it is a beauty... Custom touches everywhere yet understated color and wheels... Tubbed, custom suspension, fuel cell, auto tranny with overdrive, Great example of a Shark Nose Pickup and still has a hitch to pull his vintage car when he wants to... 4 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The cop car my son and I bought at auction to flip but I liked it so much I bought out my son and kept it for a few years. A few weeks ago I posted the Torino pic on one of my Torino forums and a guy asked if they were for sale. I told him no unless it was for crazy money. He asked for my crazy price so I came up with one and he said he would take them both so I kept my word and sold them to him. His wife doesn’t get along with it so now he’s looking at upgrading to a 2019 with the 10 speed automatic. My first hot rod was a 55 Pontiac Chieftan hardtop with a transplanted 389 with an Isky camshaft. Was a stick shift car, transmission changed to a Chevy box. My wife and I met because of her truck, an ‘84 S10 with a 305 and 700R4 trans, shackled up running era correct ‘Vette exhaust pipes. She did a burnout in our work parking lot to scare a kid she worked with. I was on a different shift and happened to be walking out to the guard shack for some truck/trailer paperwork. I dropped my jaw and happened to know her name, so I sent her an email to ask her more about the truck. Less than a year later, we’re married and have Jada on the way. Honestly, I just wanted to know more about her truck! Ends up being she’s the daughter of an ASA racing ledgend Dave Sensiba, former teammate of Adam Petty, Mr Richard Petty’s grandson. Racing is in my in law family’s blood, through and through. We still have the S10, I’ve rebuilt the engine after she ran a bit hot drag racing one of our buddies in his Monte at lunch time one day. It needs some wiring attention and could use some body work. 7 or 8 years back we picked up a ‘69 C10 I th the 307 and three on the tree. It’s pretty much all original, except the 307 eats oil instead of gas... it needs some valve guides. That engine sits in storage and I popped an ‘86 350 with a .500” lift cam, Edelbrock intake and one of those Summit brand carbs in it. It rumbles good enough to make a fun ride, but needs a new set of shoes and some cab rain channel rework. sorry no pics of the trucks while we’re at the hospital, but here’s a pic of my father in laws diecast models on a google search... 1 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

My dad owned a black 1983 S10 when I was in high school and for several years thereafter. I drove that thing as much as he would let me. It was a 4x4 with 5spd. It only had the stock 2.8L but was still fun. He had a mid 80s S10 2wd with a 2.8 and slushbox automatic. In his previous employment he was in some kind of tech sector with GM for many years. Him and his buddies modified the valve body and changed to a slightly higher stall converter? And some other mods to that transmission.... The 2.8 got the external bolt on performance treatments and some other hidden secrets that weren't exactly out on the open market that were related to ignition and Fuel Curve tuning by the GM techs. It wasn't like it was a monster machine or anything but he added 30 or 40 horsepower and also severely quickened the time that the engine took to go from idle to 5000 RPM. We are planning to take a classmate of his along and meet up with my dad and mom there. Looking forward to a day of looking at cars and hanging out with my dad and my oldest “drooling” on some vehicles from the Classic era of automobiles!
