I've done that too.... but as we all know the BBT isn't exactly the average either.

Andy N. 2,460 #24157 Posted July 23 I noticed during the last few months of mowing with the refurbed 312-8 that one of the fuel tank captured nuts had developed a seep. No worries, had some about to expire fuel tank sealant at work so I sealed up both captured nuts and add a flat washer. Leak check was good using the blue dinosaur juice. 4
Ed Kennell 42,819 #24159 Posted July 23 (edited) Started on the 314A project. Added Sta-Bil and fresh fuel. Tuned the carb ...opened low idle jet almost 1 turn, high jet was OK Started soaking fasteners with PB Cleaned up the hub caps and wheels Jack up one wheel and spin it while using the wire brush on a grinder, then aluminum foil rub. Ya think the fronts were well greased Pete? Edited July 23 by Ed Kennell 8

MainelyWheelhorse 1,948 #24162 Posted July 25 Today, after giving my yard a haircut. I attempted for the 5th, 6th and 7th time to make a headlight lens for the C-141. By the 7th time SUCCESS! It’s still a work in progress, as I’m painting in the black part that’s like the original in a bit at a time. 4
rjg854 12,440 #24163 Posted July 25 Unsure if you're planning on it, but if you're going to use that tractor at night, some LED bulbs will make a world of difference. 3

I still need to wire up the headlights but I figured the lens is a small fairly quick morale booster project. Both of my other tractors are LED so yes it does. Eventually, I’ll get there.

The LEDs run cooler, as well, so less likely to warp your new bezel! 2

MainelyWheelhorse 1,948 #24167 Posted July 25 When I started… What it looks like now. Today was more progress on the new Bezel. It just has to dry fully then test fitting and tweaking.
peter lena 9,398 #24168 Posted July 25 @kpinnc yop think the grease is about enough , also agree with the LED lights , also have those in my taillights , getting close to road edge , you can tell that people see them , the wide red glow is effective , pete 4

peter lena 9,398 #24170 Posted July 26 @Damien Walker also like the front axel spindle, vinyl grease caps , retains grease , keeps crud out , once you try and verify , any gain , use that mindset to go after another chronic issue , more often than not its a simple experiment , regularly do that , pete

Forgive me if it already has it's story told... Apologies, I don't think I responded to your comment. I haven't done a thread about the tractor as such because I took so long over it and didn't take enough photos. It is a 518H. It was purchased from a famous online auction site in a very rusty state for very little money and subjected to a full bare metal rebuild all new stainless fasteners and a swept forward front axle. I also fitted power steering and there IS a thread about the conversion on here along with full build instructions. I have another very rusty 518H still to restore so I perhaps should do a full report on that one when I get around to it!
ebinmaine 74,183 #24174 Posted July 26 Got the @76c12091520h hitch installed on the Tecumsehorse this morning. I'll make a thread about that later. Then we all worked on firewood processes. 2 6
