Stator and rectifier

Hi all,  any suggestions for a new stator and rectifier?  Should I stick with Kohler oem, or are there any good after market. 

I'm looking for a  237878  15 amp stator  and a 237335 15 amp rectifier .

I may be in the minority here but I'd rather find known good used on most Kohler electrical parts.

What's wrong with that one?  Don't usually see those go bad?

Test the existing components before replacing them. The Kohler manual has good testing procedures in section 8

Hi all,  @Bill D, @953 nut i did check stator .

Checked resistance between the two wires,(should be 0.1- 0.2 ohm )  0 ohms.

Checked resistance each wire to ground,  infinity  0.00 ohms. 

Tractor has been in a shed with a tarp over it for about 30 years. Lots of mouse house pack in fly wheel and starter. Have not run eng long enough to test rectifier when running.

0 ohms is fine.  That means it has continuity with no resistance.  Infinity means the windings are open.  If your meter has a setting where it beaps if you have continuity, I'd try that and see what happens.  If it beaps, it's good.  I'd get it running and see what the AC output from the stator is first before I'd change it.

I'll try testing it with the engine running, 

I'm almost ready to fire it up.  Went through whole tractor, top to bottom.

Mice really enjoy the privacy a tarp provides them, Hope the stator is good, hard to get a good reading on extremely low resistance like that.

Update,   took the rectifier out, sanded and cleaned contact points, ran a ground to the battery.  The back of the rectifier was dark in spots, but not burned , the plug was melted, someone rapped it in electrical type. 

Got the engine running,  checked out the stator,  30 volts AC, that was only  3200 rpm. Needs linkage adjusted,  plugged in rectifier and 14.2 volts DC at 3200.
