845, my 1045 look a like project

At the big show I got a frame from a round hood, tranny, and dash tower from @Pullstart. I also got a short frame square hood, and the dash pieces from @Mike'sHorseBarn. I got a pullstart 8 horse from one of the guys in the barns and a steering wheel from one of the guys set up in the in field. When I got the steering wheel, it still had the roll pin and part of the cut off steerong shaft in it. I soaked it for a few days with kroil and worked on it yesterday. That was the easiet roll pin I've ever had come out once I figured out how to hold the wheel. The chunk of the steering shaft also came right out. I put it in our press and barely had any pressure on it and it moved. Today, having no power and it being hot, all I did was put the dash pieces together and set them on the tower. It's been 100 degrees and humid here since we got back from the show so I haven't really been able to work on very much.

Yeah, last night there was a thunderstorm and we haven't had power since 930 pm because a branch knocked the line down and a lot of the major cities around us also lost power so we are thinking they have priority over our little town

I got my cracked f plate welded up today. How come you gave a frame with a cracked f plate Kevin, I want a refund. At least it gave me some welding practice.

Got my steering put together and drilled the holes in the f plate reinforcement plate

What size thickness is that f plate reinforcement? Looks beefy and should never have any more trouble with f plate.

It's 1/4 and its from dad's work so we're thinking it might also be heat treated and hardened a little bit

Today's progress so far has been welding up a cracked seat pan, putting the tranny on, putting the front axle on, putting wheels on it, cutting the top of the tower off because it was too tall, putting the fenders together and putting them on, measuring where to cut the too long steering shaf, and setting the little bits and pieces on it for mock up.

Kev those are handy I have not used ours in a while. I start it up a few times a year.

Just saying maybe look into a generator since where you live? They are nice to have.

The good thing is to have it wired into your breaker box. So you can have the in important things likeTV refrigerator things like that can still be functional. I remember we had an October storm here knocked the power out for over a week that was not fun. Went through a lot of gas that time.

That would be the placement but we were thinking about raising them up by like an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch, not too much that it looks stupid, just enough to have a little more tire clearance

It’s looking great!  Sorry about the frame, I never even inspected it when I got it, I just reached under and zipped the bolts in and out 

 

Good welding practice like you mentioned.  The heat settings on the thick plate look potentially a little low.  Dig that gun into the thick piece, and dip into the thinner material in your circles.  Practice makes perfect, and you’re doing great!

The last couple of days I've done the little nitpicky jobs like welding some hood mounts on, wiring up the kill switch, installing the throttle and choke cable, putting oil in the engine, and running the fuel line. I'm close to being able to run and drive it I just need to get the carb straightened out because at the moment it only runs on a shot of brake clean and isn't getting fuel. I did pop the line if the carb to make sure I had fuel going to it but I think the main problem is that its all gummed up from old fuel because when I took the bowl off it smelled like varnish and it was very dark and cruddy.
