@Skwerl58  @Treepep  , regularly experiment  with  recovery stages of  older  anything , just curiosity  , how ? why? save it? , often refer to first stage of  used tractor  pick up , my first , thing is to get  paint recovery going , getting a penetrating oil / mineral oil  spray down , and forget it , long soak time is best . then its a mineral oil rub down , no scratch pads , save / retain that patina , preserve it / enhance it  . done a number of  , tractor related , pieces . if paint  starts  to show itself , 6" electric palm buffer  , cleaner wax , just work with what exposes itself , that will retain , exact era  patina , regularly  , clean cloth  mineral  oil rub down my  , horses ,  paint looks solid / clean / clear , thats the look I want . this is an easy  stage to bring out on any old piece , experiment / test / try as you go , not looking for a show queen , just  clean / clear , marvel at the recover y , stage in these units . love , improving  original , set ups, for  dependable operations . good talkin , pete

I always have some Back to Black on the shelf. It does a great job but it's not really a cleaner. I used VRP vinyl cleaner and conditioner.

The flat top shifter knobs look great - what did you use on the black??

I have had good longterm success with Duplicolor Black Interior Dye Paint.

Nothing fancy. I chucked them up in a drill press and hit them with 400 grit. Then I wiped on a couple coats of Flood Penetrol. I was experimenting more than anything and they actually came out pretty nice.

Well done, sir.

I must point out one of my Dad’s regular expressions: “You cannot make anything foolproof. Why? Because fools are way too clever."

He was proved correct all the time as users constantly found ways to misuse software systems my team thought were well-designed.

It's been a fun project. As I've said before, this started out being just a quick refurb. The more I went the further I wanted to take it. Now I kinda regret doing a proper priming job instead of the way I did it through the winter. It definitely had an effect on the final finish. OK, that and maybe my first attempt with a HVLP gun. But it looks like it's destined to become a mowing machine again and it's fine for that. I haven't got the lift arm underneath yet and I think I'll do that today. Maybe even put the deck on it. I'm a little concerned that the rear 10.50's may hit the deck wheels. :banana-rock:
