1968Commando 135 #1 Posted May 15 (edited) Hello all, I have a k181 Kholer and it seems it’s either wide open and sounding like it’s gonna blow up or it’s gonna idle there’s no in between and when you push it back to idle after it’s wide open it will pop pretty good and it seems to be very delayed to slow down. What do I do? And I have adjusted the governor to the manual specs and it is messed up still but I made progress because originally I couldn’t get the governor arm to move at all so that’s a positive I guess Edited May 15 by 1968Commando
squonk 43,054 #2 Posted May 15 I think we need a video of the governor shaft movement. I'm thinking either it's still out of adjustment or that tab on the Governor shaft (which I have seen a lot of) is broken.

Well it turns and stops so I assume it’s still there correct or could it be jammed in there?

It's what keeps the lights on around here and allows people to help you! Take a look at all the names in RED that have been and are currently trying to help you so far. They are supporters. It's not necessarily about whether you can post more pics and videos or not.

Racinbob 11,863 #10 Posted May 16 Throttle response throw on every small block K I've had has received this modification. I've posted this picture numerous times. Assuming you have the governor properly adjusted and everything is connected correctly this will do wonders for the tiny throw.

How did you attach that piece is it welded can I figure out someway to do this without a welder? Currently I have no arm and the wire connects right into the holes on the disc

Last year when the throttle cable my uncle had on this tractor broke it was aftermarket because the original broke, I put a new push pull throttle on it and I honestly didn’t then read the manual I just hooked it back j the bolt that is on the governor arm that the spring goes into and I got way better throttle response then what I have now, should I go back to that or does that make the governor not work right? Currently I have no arm and the wire connects right into the holes on the disc I tapped two of the existing holes in the round disc. I don't remember if I used 6-32 or something a fuzz smaller. You have to be very aware of clearance. I ground some to clear the brass nut.

How about I cover you for becoming a supporter then? I'd prefer you put the money have into your tractor. We need young members as most of us are all old farts.

Racinbob 11,863 #17 Posted May 16 Yes. I also used JBWeld. No nuts on the backside. It needs to be ground smooth.

Ah ok, so tap the holes in the disc, cut a piece of metal and attach it, cut the bolts to fit, and then hookup and go
Racinbob 11,863 #19 Posted May 16 Yup, that's it. I just run the bolts thru and let it sit until the JB sets up and then carefully grind the bolts flush.
