    Bought this 1986 312-8 in 2000 and decided to do a makeover. This tractor had just over 1000 hours but the engine and trans were still very strong. Included were a 48'' dozer blade, 42'' RD deck,AG tires, chains and a cart that is seen behind my C-120 in other photos on here that I kept. I learned a lot about WH tractors doing this as I feel it was a very positive experience and still remember the time and effort it took to make it come out right.

    I started this project in the Fall of 2014. Disassembled the entire tractor,sandblasted most of the parts ,primed and painted several of the parts , rebuilt the unidrive transmission,blasted and powder coated the rims and pretty much just started collecting parts including a k91 Kohler . also picked up the parts for rebuilding the k91 including a NOS .030 piston ring set, NOS piston rod and NOS Crankshaft. Also ordered from Terry a custom set of pink lawn ranger decals for the 68 ranger which was custom matched to the paint color of the tractor. And thats about as far as I got and the project was shelved for over 4 years due to life getting busy. So last summer my Friend Denny Clarke @dclarkeoffered to finish this project for me as a winter project to keep busy. Knowing how Nice of a Job Denny does on his restorations (especially Lawn Rangers) i had to say YES! To Make a long story short...Here are some pics.

    Got the 310-8 up and running this morning, brought the side covers and footrests back to Maine from Mass to start on those. Was nice to hear it run and the tranny swap from the C-85 seems like it will do the job.

    Modified the wheelhorse's trailer today as it couldn't hold enough hay when the girls were mucking out the piglet hospital ( they look after any sick ones). Added high sides so now we can do the clean up in one run to the muck pile rather than three.

    We used 1-1/2” channel iron for foot rest supports. Also moved the brake pedal rod back to position it at the front of the running board.

    So I took a load of truly scrap steel, a little aluminum, 2 batteries, some copper, etc to the Hill Country Recycle Yard. I got $59.42. They let you walk the pile from 12 noon to 12:30 while there shut down for lunch, so I timed my trip accordingly. I spent $102.00. After parting out my purchases I resold $19.49. So I spent $23.09 Do you see it. Not the cheap one in front. Ok also got these round fenders off a Sears, 2 cast iron pots, a flat belt driven saw with babbit bearings (probable part of a cord wood saw) and a 4" vice that not pictured. Here's what was hiding on top of the pile. The claw had smashed the back. I know it's green, but there's a Kohler under there Lots of parts for trading at the next tractor show. I'll post a for Sale in the Classifieds here in case someone needs some thing, very reasonable. The 10hp Kohler K241 was untouched by the claw and turns over with the electric starter. The rear rims were damaged and they were probable the only other thing I would have kept.

    Only problem I have had so far is “container rain”. They sweat inside and drip from the roof in cold climates. You have to insulate at least the ceiling with closed cell foan or spray foam insulation. I have two high cubes I want to build a 20x40 pole barn between and put awnings out over them from the barn. Cover the roofs. I also made side vents for mine and cut open larger holes with mesh behind them for cross ventilation. Eventually have exhaust fans. I love mine. 2500 for one and 2700 for the other.

    Today I changed all the fuel lines on my Raider 10. I originally wanted to simply replace the fuel filter, but the lines were falling apart on disassembly so I figured replaviyng all of them was the best choice. For future reference, 4' of 1/4" fuel line was enough for tank to valve, valve to filter, filter to pump, and pump to carb with about 4" left over on a Raider 10. Probably would want the whole 4' if you don't have a fuel filter.

    Been reading about Pink Tractors here lately.....So I thought I'd show some pics of my recently restored 1968 Lawn Ranger custom made for my youngest daughter. Picked this one up for free from my Buddy Terry Dennis @Vinylguy and had plans right away to make it "pink. Here is a pic of when I first brought it home. Tractor was in fairly nice shape but was equipped with a very tired 7hp Briggs.

    I am going to start a new thread on this. Picked it up at a garage sale. I know nothing about tillers. Figured I would give it some love and fix it up some. Ordered a new carb for the 3.5hp Tecumseh. Going to change fuel line, change oil, change plug, new air filter and the engine will be good to go. I cant find a ID number anywhere on the tiller. I know its a Junior from the sticker but I dont see any like this one with the square cast iron gear housing for the tines. It also has a cast iron transmission housing for the wheel drive. I would like to change oil in both and not sure what to use in each. Can anyone help me out?

    In 1982 I exploded a muffler on a Chevy Cavalier when none of them would start when the temps were below 20F. The Service Manager took the can of either away from me and told me to get a broom and sweep up all the muffler fiberglass after it quit falling from the ceiling. Talk about a big KABOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thats what I did, also used a fender pan from an 856 fo keep fingers and feet out of the wheels.

    I have what I believe is a 1964 Lawn Ranger. I'm wondering how rare they are and wondering what it is worth in the original condition it is in now. May possibly restore it when I catch up on all my other projects. Thank you!

    Do a search on you tube for a container shed or any variance of that. There are numerous different ideas on what you can do with one. Also many different ideas on how to control the air quality and such. Very interesting to see what can and could be done with them.

    Been without my laptop since last week. Had a couple of power cuts that somehow sent it haywire. Needed a new battery also. Got it back this morning. Got some catching up to do. Must have been the hottest day of the year today. 32c = 90f as near as damn it. Crazy weather. Rained nearly all day yesterday. Been the wettest July I can remember. Mowed green and verges this afternoon with the C125 and then a quick spin over with the Sears/Roper and lawn sweeper. Removed cutter deck and cleaned it off, then blew down the C125. Finally a nice refreshing shower. Youngest daughter, granddaughter and number 4 grandson turned up mid-afternoon. I've not seen them for two months. Nice to have a social distancing chat and watch the youngsters and dog chase each other round the green.

    Excellent Restore. For the foot rest supports did y'all weld some round rod to the frame on each side? Would you mind posting a bottom picture? I see a pink tractor in my future.

    changing tube on a dirt bike can be a challenge - especially the 19" rears with low pro tire good tire irons / spoons are a plus !

    Gonna put my neck on the chopping block for this, but here goes: The fuel pumps on the later model 312's and 314's are crap. Always have been. Look through all the threads on here about hard starting, especially after setting for a while. Most posts refer to these models. Newer plastic fuel pumps are crap too. Doesn't solve the problem and leak too. Best (cheapest) fix is the primer bulb as mentioned above. However, that only fixes the hard starting and NOT the fuel starvation mentioned by so many other posters. My recommendation (from a lot of experience) is to install a quality electric fuel pump. The cheap $10-15 pumps don't last more than an hour or two and leave you with the same problem you started with. Get a quality pump (I recommend Facet) and never have that problem again. Granted, not original equipment, but tractors were built to run and work, not cussed at because they won't. Investing in a good electric pump may cost a little now, but saves a lot of headaches later.

    Spent the last few days sprucing up this Schwinn. All original paint, seat, lite grips and baskets. Cleaned up the chrome and put new tires on her. 26"...I think it is from the 1970's. It had the tan side walls on her.

    I second the 80/90 like Kevin says, plus I just serviced out my Troy-Bilt Bronco tiller with that earlier this year with zero issues. Most importantly, good luck on getting the Tecumseh engine running right! These little guys are great for working up ground that has already been worked. My Bronco definitely earns its name if you're trying to workup new ground!

    Waiting on final parts from wheel horse parts and more. So I'm starting to work on the motor. I'm putting a 16 Horse on this one. Motor has been bored 30 over a piston new connecting rod New valve guides and new valves.

    Be sure to mount the pump low on the frame, they are good at pushing fuel but not so good at sucking it up hill.
