JCM 8,697 #551 Posted May 6 I had them put in on the slab on grade rear shop off the back of the garage. It's a good thing I did, they have been working.

They were finding that the frost cracks were quite often not located where the humans wanted them to be so why bother to put them in the first place...

Will crack Our concrete guy put control joints in our driveway. Some were tooled and between the tooled joints he saw cut one to split the space between the tooled ones. I think it’s like rolling dice- sometimes they work great, other times not. As you can see in the pic, we did not have 100% success. Most of them are working so far. I checked the tooled joints and the cut joints every day after it was first poured. In a few days they were already doing their job. We did put fiber in it, no rebar, no wire… The pic shows where the driveway went from double wide to single wide going towards the road. The cut mark coming in from the left “split” the wide area. SylvanLakeWH 24,399 #564 Posted May 20 That joint end into an adjacent slab is almost a guarantee crack off the end of the cut... 1 hour ago, Horse Newbie said: I think it’s like rolling dice- sometimes they work great, other times not. Bingo.
