I had them put in on the slab on grade rear shop off the back of the garage. It's a good thing I did, they have been working.

Do you remember what PSI concrete and whether it was fiber reinforced?

Can't answer that. The day before the pour I ended up in the Hospital for 3 weeks.

Regarding joints...

Two types of concrete.

1. Already cracked or

2. Will crack

That's why a lot of the guys up here stopped using planned lines. They were finding that the frost cracks were quite often not located where the humans wanted them to be so why bother to put them in the first place...

Our concrete guy put control joints in our driveway. Some were tooled and between the tooled joints he saw cut one to split the space between the tooled ones.

I think it’s like rolling dice- sometimes they work great, other times not. As you can see in the pic, we did not have 100% success. Most of them are working so far.

I checked the tooled joints and the cut joints every day after it was first poured. In a few days they were already doing their job.

We did put fiber in it, no rebar, no wire…

The pic shows where the driveway went from double wide to single

wide going towards the road. The cut mark coming in from the left “split” the wide area.

That joint end into an adjacent slab is almost a guarantee crack off the end of the cut... :(

Trina started adding shelves in between the trusses upstairs.

Official storage space of camping gear now.

Make sure to create at least one secret compartment or passageway!

What are you going to do for insulation?

In the main part of the barn where these trusses are, no insulation. At some point we may put something up against the metal roof to reduce condensation, but that's not in the plans right now.

Insulation in the left hand side shed area where the new Workshop is, will be a single layer of Reflectix on the outside walls and ceiling, to start.

As time goes on we will likely add more layers, first in the form of additional Reflectix, then maybe hardboard foam.

Light rain most of the day so we got some work done under a roof.

Started in on the insulation in the new workshop.

We got a layer of Reflectix up in 4 rafters out of 20.

Also cut another 6 for next time.

Trina and her momma spent a good portion of yesterday afternoon cutting and putting up the insulation on the long wall.

@JCM and I have talked a couple times about what he did and what we should do. I've seen his setup.

Good call Jim.

I gotta say... I'd recommend this Reflectix for two reasons right now.

1. We can already feel very slight variances in temperature from different areas of the ceiling and walls.

2. The light reflected back is fantastic. As humans age we need more and whiter illumination to see what we're working on/ with.

The increase in vision is just excellent.

Some will be a bit further apart.

Suggest making some of them twice as deep!

These are 8" shelves.

There will also be 20 ish inch spacing on 8" shelves.

There will also be a bunch of pegboard.

Also several sets of metal shelves about a foot deep.
