Sam77 4 #4 Posted January 3, 2022 Yeah she runs! But I done messed with throttle and the rear end. Got lever to say stay in neutral. But as soon as let loose of brake she takes off and belt squeal’s BAD!! And the throttle is my fault I adjusted cable and now runs wide open and then some! I can figure that problem out! Just don’t know about hydrostatics! I spent all New Year’s Day trying to sort it out!! I need help!!
Sam77 4 #5 Posted January 3, 2022 Is it maybe that I got the lever sorted out and I need to adjust it again since have forward and reverse lever kinda sorta fixed??
rjg854 12,237 #6 Posted January 3, 2022 Did you have the belt cover off?
Sam77 4 #7 Posted January 3, 2022 No, don’t have belt cover off, see I was thinking belt needs replaced
rjg854 12,237 #8 Posted January 3, 2022 I was wondering if you had the cover off, did you get the belt routed properly when you put the cover back on. I usually engage the belt in the running position to put the cover back on. That way the belt doesn't get bound up in some fashion.
Sam77 4 #9 Posted January 3, 2022 I never took belt off. I adjusted the forward and reverse lever. A while back, but then I got lever fixed where it won’t just drop into forward or reverse now. Should I adjust the linkage again??
Pullstart 67,015 #10 Posted January 3, 2022 Let’s start with a throttle / governor adjustment. No need to blow up the engine trying to figure out the motion control. I realize this is an 8 hp engine, it it’s the same governor adjustment. It should be able to overcome a poor throttle adjustment… but it’s best to disconnect the throttle cable first. 1

Yeah, I moved the throttle body to where when you pull the cable, she opens up way more then she should!! It’s bad, I need to adjust it back to where it was. That I believe can sort out. Sam77 4 #12 Posted January 3, 2022 I’m a 3rd shifter, and don’t have her up where I can take a video of what my problem is. I’ll do it tomorrow morning, and hopefully this helps with my predicament I’m in. My throttle I done messed with that, where I probably should of left well enough alone!! rmaynard 16,349 #13 Posted January 3, 2022 (edited) I'm with @Pullstart on this one. Sounds like you got the governor out of whack. Not a big problem if you follow the instructions to the letter on properly adjusting it. Your problem with the hydro could be as simple as a bad adjustment of the friction control. or maybe the nylon parts are cracked or broken.
