I prefer to pump the fluid into a tube

I run both in the tires on my 416-8. Mine are filled and have just a splash of air... (get it? 'splash of air')... :royalty-king:

I didn't want to break the bead... so I filled them... literally a little bit at a time with an old, empty SLIME tire sealant bottle. In my case it took roughly 2 hours to fill the tires with 291 bottles of windshield washer fluid and gallons of old motor oil that I had around... so... yeah I'm glad that's over with... :hide:  :eusa-whistle: :laughing-rolling:

My worry with fluid filled tires is... if I ever run over a nail or something sharp... but I guess that's a chance you take with fluid filled tires...

That’s why we don’t promote using old motor oil…. :sad-pacing:

I run fluid in the AG tires on Cinnamon Horse.

No tubes.

Haven't added air. Ever.

Had em for 4 or 5 years now so there's little to no air pressure left.

Fluid is sugar based and completely nontoxic to anything.

I played around with saturation points, adding sugar to RV antifreeze for extra weight and little volume added.  It was pretty fun.

Chevrolet 16in wheels from a dual wheel truck and mounted some 7.00x16

You mean from a 'dually' truck right? Great idea but I'm pretty sure finding wheels like that in the Netherlands is going to be near impossible let alone expensive. Same goes for the tires.

The best option I found so far are 6.5/80-15 (or there about) tires, still pretty costly especially when going the dual wheel route.

Rims is no problem, I'll probably buy good used or new rims off a car and cut the centers out and make my own. The rims are as cheap as $10 each for used or $35 each new.

About the fluid filling, thank you all. Once again all your responses show that there is so much knowledge here.

Great experiment on your part @Pullstart never thought about saturating a fluid like that to make it heavier. Did you try it in your wheels yet? Also I could'nt make out from the video how much weight you gained by adding the sugar?

Guess water and sugar are environmentally 'ok' options but for real weight I should fill the tires with mercury, whopping 13,5kg/L or 30lbs/fl. quart!

Wheelweights acquired, 20kg/44lbs each.

Now to figure out an easy way to attach them.

I’d say some bolts should work :handgestures-thumbupright:

Yes and no.. the wheel hubs protrude through the wheels so I can't just bolt them on.

I need somekind of spacer to keep the weights off the hub and of my painted rims :eusa-think:

With all the stuff you built for this tractor, I don’t think you’ll have a problem coming up with something :handgestures-thumbupright:

I like the idea of doing your own narrow wheels. I did that on my C121 Wheel Horse. (The Black Horse) Also made my own wheel weights.

May give you an idea or two.

@Stormin Thanks for posting those links! Excellent idea on narrowing standard wheels. Did'nt think about that to be honest.

Still I think i'm going to go with wheels which are already the right width and make my own center-section. That way I can mimic the original International wheel plates to make them look even better than what I now have.

Well this turned into a bigger job than I had hoped.. then again you all know how I "roll" by now :P

Made a cross with spacer bushings to clear the hub. Also made some plastic washers to (hopefully) save the red paint of the rim.

Two M16 bolts to bolt the weight to. The center tube doubles as a guide I can stick the weight on, then slide it back over the bolts. Also makes it look like it now has long axles which is a look I think makes it look 'American'.

20221103_103208.jpg.612ffca8cca2fe310eed7ef7216d0650.jpg

Ofcourse the grey is only zinc-primer, painted the crosses shiny black.

20221103_160228.jpg.6d4074c5fd40246578eef169db0139d4.jpg

I'll have to do some work on the weights themselves. I want to mount them what can be considered backwards because I think that looks better. Since the weights were not designed to be mounted that way I have to make some room for a nut and socket so I can tighten them properly.

More on that tomorrow (hopefully).

Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark

Pardon my French @Jeff-C175 did'nt know how to phrase it better :P

Soo.. worked on the wheel weights a bit today. The plan was to use an angular cutter to widen the holes where the nuts mount to make room for a socket. The angular cutter needed re-sharpening so delivered that to the sharpener yesterday and picked it up this morning.

Went home in good spirit and tried it out..

20221104_111730.jpg.6e2281dac99342cfe6d131a29fd1e7ca.jpg

FAIL! This is how much I got done before the cutter was dull again.. $20 down the drain for nothing :eusa-doh:

Plan A was use a die grinder and carbide bit but that went a little slow so I opted for plan B: the angular cutter.. seems it's back to plan A unfortunately.

How hard is the weight?  What about an counterbore drill bit?

Or maybe a step drill bit?

Well the hole i'm trying to drill is 38mm/1.5".

Do you know if those bits are available in that size? Bit pricey also probably?

Step drill will not touch the material, way to hard.

Counter bores are used in die making and solid steel work.  They are measured based on the bolt size, and give space for the bolt head and tool.  Generally an Allen bolt is used with them.

@Pullstart yep I know those. Looking at it though the pilot diametre will be too short and it being HSS I think it will have the same issue as the annular cutter. Get dull fast.

The temper idea I unfortunately don't have the equipment for.

Little update, changed the ball hitch configuration. I'm hoping this will improve pulling power by transferring more pressure onto the rear wheels. Only one way to find out..

Before, low and long:

20221028_144454.jpg.995b386b52d3a7defbcff643ecb4cc84.jpg

After, higher and stubby:

20221109_203725.jpg.85ace4a268a0021cf3e3ef2194fc076c.jpg

As you can see I now have 3 different heights to choose from, depending on the implement I'm dragging or what works best in terms of grip.

Sorry for the late notice, but if anyone is near Fredricktown, Missouri, the 17th annual Cubarama is being held this weekend, starting Thursday, the 27th,  (set up day), Friday September 28, and Saturday September 29.  It's held the last weekend of September each year in Fredricktown and is for the Farmball Cub and Cub Cadet, but basically anything IH related.

Fredricktown is about 80 to 90 miles south of St. Louis.
