Well that was kinda violent and unexpected

Took the 416 out to mow and try out the new seat...mowed maybe 15 minutes, let off the PTO and bang...something hit my foot.

I recall reading one of the members makes and sells replacement PTO clutch material. I hope someone replies who that is as I need one too.  There are some vendors that sell complete new plates with new clutch material on them.

Thankfully i have had a like new spare hanging on a hook since 2005, im back up and going and good time to luve the pto bell.  Easy 10 minute fix.

New clutch 94-6650 about 58 bucks in the Jungle if you need to get back up and going

@ RED -Z06 ,  did you take the time to lightly hi temp grease the related needle bearing the pto cone? pete

I've seen a couple folks have 1/8 aluminium cut to replace the clutch material too. Not sure how I feel about it, but am told it works well.

Yep 2 replies up.  I rebuilt that cone in 06, new pilot, new needle, new seal...was not fun.  Still looked good though, wiped the race off and nothing but some heat spots from when the original went out in 06.

If i was confident in an epoxy or my riveting skills id experiment with stuff like 4 pucks cut from various materials.

@Horse Newbie  referring to that pto bearing , that needs a hi temp anti sling grease this what i use ,  https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lucas-Oil-Xtra-Heavy-Duty-Grease-Green-14-5-oz/36052505 . also in my mower deck bearings and mule drive bearings , as well as all chassis points , it stands up and does not fail , pete

I use Valvoline Cerulean for Bearings in the shop.

 

And WD40 Specialist High temp/shear for other stuff

@moe1965, conveyor belt material , is a very good replacement , but then again the amount of material you need is so small , might be better to just  go to this home site for , exact fit , pete
