At axle height measure outside of tire to outside of tire in the front.  Make a white mark at that point.  Then roll tractor so that the white mark is at axle height to the rear.  Then measure that.  as indicated 1/ 8  -  1/4 is not a bad measurement.  Why mark and roll???  tires have bulges and irregularities in the side walls you want to measure in the same place.

I bet there's enough 'slop' in the whole steering setup that if you did that three times you would get three different measurements.

I may have asked before, but anyone familiar with the drive belt # for my 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 ?

I came up with 2 part numbers, 7473 and 107939…

looking at the Toro parts list it is part # 6, but it looks to me as a belt for a hydro, because the 8 speed has no cooling fan.

The belt should be 7473  82" x 5/8"  for a 8 speed.

Go to Tractor Supply and get one of there blue belts they are half the price of the Toro.

I was looking for an 82 x 5/8 belt for my 1984 Work Horse GT-1600.

They had a bunch of misc. belts on top shelf… they had to come down.

I looked through all of them and put them back, plus put a few others in their correct slots.

You gotta get the Work Horse on wheels and post some pics. I need some motivation! What you've done so far is very thorough, and I wanna see it when put together!

There will definitely be pics coming. May be a few months before it’s done.

My next goal is to get the engine back on, drive belt, tie rods,… to be able to crank and run a little diesel through the transmission to flush. This will be bare bones shakedown run if you will…

@Horse Newbie... EVERY time I go to TSC... NONE of the belts are in the place they should be. I literally have to dig through them... and I can't deny intentionally misplacing some... just to add to the madness...

Once that frame and transmission is bolted together and in a stable position there's no reason why you can't drop 2 or 3 qts of diesel into it. Spin a wheel to get the gears moving or even just letting it sit. Certainly won't hurt anything.

The drive belt you need is 93-9809.  You have to order it from Toro.  It's a 83.5" belt.  Whole size belts won't work properly on this tractor.  I had an 84" belt ony GT1642 when I first got it.  The belt guide was not adjusted properly.  That combined with the longer belt allowed it to get jammed between the drive pulley and the clutch disc sending the tractor out of control.  I don't want to see all your hard work ruined by running it into a tree by accident.
