42 inch rear discharge belt sizes?

I just bought a deck for my 310-8, it’s a 42inch rear discharge, it came with a complete parts tractor, but I need new belts for it. Does anyone know what size belts I need?

Dropped by to throw out a question around my 1986 x310-A with a 42" deck. Blew the belt on the deck today so this info was very helpful in getting me on a path to correctly ID the deck, and so now I also know what belt I need. Meanwhile, is it me or is this rig incredibly loud with the blades spinning? I put my ballistic ears on and even those could be a little stronger in the sound blockage department.

Yeah I thought mine was loud too. As long as nothings rubbing or grinding I think it’s fine.

I ALWAYS wear my 30db "ears" before I even start a motor (mowers, chipper, chain saw, pressure washer, trimmer, blower, generator, etc.). Makes them all sound fine to me.

Don's got the right idea! Heck I even wear mine so I don't have to hear kids squeal. So, I'm wrestling with the deck belt right now. This was after discovering both spindle pulleys completely scaled. Meaning, thick corrosion inside the "V". I chipped all that away good enough for now. We'll see if pulleys running a belt that are smoother will make a difference. Otherwise I hope to get 2 pulleys and an idler in here sometime soon. In fact, I'll plan on refurbing the whole deck based on lots of great ideas you guys have in the forum.

if the mower deck noise is excessive - this could be the result of a loose idler ... too much movement of the idler ... too loose ... nylon bushings / washers and /or the idler bar could be excessively worn ... spring lost tension (?)

 

one telltale sign - noise increase as idler moves back and forth when deck / blades are engaged 

 

corroded pulleys (inside portion that contacts the belt) can destroy a belt - sometimes in as little as a few hours ...  (just something to consider)
