Rear Mounting Bracket Mod for Tiller and Plow

Recommended Posts

Nuzmuz

Just wanted to show a modification I did to my 1990 310-8. I recently picked up a 36” tiller for my horse and I tried it out on my new garden area. After hitting a rock, it knocked one of the axle brackets open dropping the right side of the tiller. On a manual I viewed, it had clevis pins to hold the lever in, but my bracket did not have them. I drilled a 1/4” hole through on each lever and mounted a 1/4” clevis pin and hairpin cotter to reinforce the lever. I read on another post to just tighten the bolts on the levers, but I think this will work a little better. Hope this helps someone!

:text-welcomeconfetti: to the :rs:       Axle bracket lever locks are a great idea.  Especially useful when plowing snow.

I thought that was a good idea until I lost pins & spring pins. If that is done picker pins must have cotter pins so they can't get knocked out. I went to 1/4" bolts with the nylon locks.

Dun dere, been dat!

      - SOLD - Moderator may remove at will
0736TL04 tiller and fitments needed to mount on many long frame, C series, 300/400/500 series tractors.
      Notable details:
Gearbox and tines have low hours.  Tarp had blown off mid-mount idlers and got rusted up, probably need penetrating oil and new idlers.
Axle mount is rusty/restorable/useable.  Lift cable has nylon worn through on one side (they tend to do that).  One rear jackshaft bushing
has couple ears broke off, and jackshaft e-clips are lost (edit: found those).  Belt is original.
Pick up in my back yard near Elida, Ohio.  Bring help to load, or ramps or something.
I think it may be worth $100.
      - or -
Would consider trade for a used car or truck hood that I can use for a sled to drag firewood and equipment around on, something kinda
rounded without points or ridges to catch.  Have been using an S-10 hood for years, and it's wearing through becoming less useable.
      What 'cha got?

I don't have any prior knowledge or experience with this plow as I will be a first-time user. Need some help please.

I brought this well used plow, which I believe is a Brinly PP-500 series as the exploded part view seems to match up with my plow.
Completely disassembled the plow, removed all rust, primed, painted, (wheel horse red of course) and re-assembled with new fasteners.
Having trouble with the coulter blade, as it doesn't seem to fit this plow? Please refer to the pictures below.
It appears to mount only one way, but it seems too big for this plow.  Do I have the right size coulter blade?
What am I am doing wrong? Also is the front yoke assembly mounted correctly?
      Thanks

I bought a 5xi package yesterday including some attachments I'm not going to need:
4' plow, model # 79355 - in great condition, very minor surface rust on crossmember and back side of blade. $250 48" mower deck with blower and bagger - in good condition, working when removed from tractor yesterday. Previous owner said it never clogged on him. Some surface rust on deck and one 2" hole near the center. $300.
I'm open to offers and interested in trades! I'm looking for a 2-stage snow thrower, p/n 79366. Maybe tools, etc.

Available for pickup--let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Here's a photo of the deck that's included. It's got some rust holes, but functions perfectly. Most of the price here is wrapped up in the blower & bagger:

      Hello all, I have a what I believe is a 36” tiller.
i can get a few pictures of it this afternoon, it rolls freely and appears in very good condition. It’s missing the rear hinge panel. I’m mainly interested in swapping for a box blade and other items depending what you’d have for the clevis or sleeve hitch or I’ll take best offer. Thank you. Also, I have a snow plow and the frame in which someone has modified for I believe an Atv or different tractor I’d be willing to let go for $50 or throw in towards the deal. The blade is in pretty decent shape and the angle mechanism works flawlessly. Again thank you.
edit* I will be able to get pictures Labor Day weekend, sorry for the delay if anyone is interested

SOLD SOLD 520xi with air cooled 20hp Kohler - tractor in great shape and solid. Everything works. Engine was removed a few years ago and cleaned of grass buildup. New head gaskets and PTO seal a few years ago. Engine showed a decent amount of wear but runs strong and fires right up. Didn’t like the wear and needed a zero turn for my property. Would not hesitate to mow with it right now. 1200 hours. Have original paperwork. New air filter, fuel filter, fresh oil & filter. It’s been mowing 3+ acres for 20 years.

52” side discharge deck complete. Currently mounted on the 520xi- solid, welded/patched cracks and holes. Front roller broken and patched, newer belt. Was just removed and cleaned. Welded chips in blades, but never finished sharpening. Solid deck, decent life left.

48” wheel horse complete plow for 520xi 79355. Was used for snow. In great shape.

48” wheel horse plow incomplete for 300 series garden tractor. Was used for parts. Not sure what it is missing but what’s there is very solid.

MUST TAKE ALL. WILL NOT SEPERATE. Won’t answer if you ask. $750 CASH for everything. Only thing I’d consider selling separate is the 48” incomplete plow for 300 series. Will not deliver.
