Brute force and a 12in long pipe. I didnt realize that it was hardened steel. The tire tipped in just a bit so I thought I would tweak it back a bit. Ya...no....wrong answer.

With that spindle breaking the build is at a stand still. I can make a spindle but I would have better chances of having 2 that match by building 2 new ones. If I go thru that much trouble do I just go with a 5 lug hub conversion? Then there is going to be a tire change. Ugh! Im kinda at a loss of direction. 🤔🤔

A 12in pipe. It's like starting the build all over again. 

 

I looked that spindle over again. It was going to break sooner or later. The grain structure was to coarse and there is a black line on one side. That says to me it was already cracked.

@Oldskool as long as it's two that match it doesn't matter much what they're off from. 

I do kinda prefer the older ones that use a bolt in the end to hold the wheel on. 

 

@pullstart may have a spare or 3 laying around..

@ebinmaine the other ones I have here are shorter in height. The front already sits a bit lower in the front. I didnt want to go any lower. I decided to just build 2 new ones

Yepp gotcha. 

 

If those were taller they mighta been from a 310 with 6" front wheels.

The spindles are made and on for a dry fit. Now I know the tires sit correctly I'm going to weld a backbone to the spindles. That will go underneath from the hub stop and wrap up around to the steering arm. I was going to heat and bend some up but I'm about out of Acetylene but I think these will do.

Trina and I have a slightly different habit from the norm there.

Most of the time we will mock something up very loosely and then she'll paint everything on all four sides so even the touching surfaces are covered.

 

Sometimes we have to go back and touch things up just a tiny bit but it seems to work pretty well.

Oh there will be some of that here as well.

There is still cutting,grinding,welding to do, but none on the frame.
