ebinmaine 78,703 #9576 Posted Saturday at 06:40 PM Got the Echo CS490 chainsaw back together. Muffler modification completed, and I cleaned out the case of old sawdust. It took me a few tries to dial it in just right. I can definitely recommend doing this mod. The supposed 10% - 15% power gain is enough to make a difference. Not massive. But a usable real-world difference. 2
CasaytheMann 116 #9577 Posted Saturday at 07:25 PM I finally figured out why my Bolens weed trimmer was shutting off after 15-20 minutes of running. What i thought was 2 cycle oil in the gas can wasn't, so the engine was overheating due to no lubrication. I emptied the fuel out of the trimmer and refilled with the correct mixture. Took it out and wacked grass and weeds until the fuel tank ran dry with absolutely no problems. 2

8ntruck 8,845 #9580 Posted Saturday at 11:34 PM Went to one of the robotics team members senior open house today. After walking the dog and eating lunch, I attacked the deck again. Between the heat and the cold I picked up at the world championships in Houston a couple weeks back, I ran out of energy before I ran out of deck to tear apart. Didn't get as far as I wanted. Oh well, the deck will still be here when we get back. When we bought the house, the realtor mentioned that there was a cistern somewhere on the property. I think I found it this afternoon while I was prying the floorboards off of the deck. There looks to be a large (2 1/2' x 3 1/2') concrete hatch under the deck. Probably ought to break the sides around the top of it to a foot below grade and backfill it with gravel. Then again, I could just build the new deck over the top of it like the old deck was.

adsm08 4,418 #9582 Posted yesterday at 12:20 AM This morning I ran the boy around to gather up parts for his rototiller project. In that process we both learned how to re-rope a @Pullstart recoil. Then we went to the soccer game, ran him to his GF's one house, came home, mowed and split wood, changed oil for the neighbor, wife ran the repaired tiller through our garden to make sure it worked properly, then after dinner we took the tiller back and got the boy.
sqrlgtr 2,853 #9583 Posted yesterday at 01:41 AM @ebinmaine couldn't help but notice the heat induction coils in the above pics, I recently got this one the other day and I'm really impressed with it. Used it today to heat WH hitch up that was bent downward toward the ground and straightened it back out with a big hammer after heating it up, worked great.

Razorback 1,305 #9585 Posted yesterday at 03:07 AM I picked up a rear oil seal for my Cub Cadet 123 and got the GT ready to install the front grill. Still need to do an oil change, then can use this GT in the garden again. Used my C160 and 36" deck to do a little mowing while wife used Craftsman with 54" deck to mow more of the yard. Then met friends for supper at a wonderful local Mexican restaurant. 1

I bought one a few years ago to use on fuel tank bolts, but I use it a lot if I don't want to drag out the big torch, or to brand mis-behaving co-workers.

Just one question @ebinmaine BBT doesn't read your posts for inspirational ideas on the home front does she? Asking for a friend...

I dunno @ebinmaine….or a lot of caution. If it was me I wouldn’t provoke someone who could split you in half using the coil like a lightsaber….😄 1
Bar Nuthin 2,473 #9591 Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Getting last of the pool sand removed on a rather warm and muggy day. Gonna enlist my neighbor and his tiller once it's cleared. Would like to have tested out the "new to me" C-160 today but I decided to wait on my hydraulic filter to arrive to complete its initial service. 8ntruck 8,845 #9595 Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Last night, we realized that we were both pretty much whupped and not completely ready for our trip to our Michigan location for the summer. We declared that today would be a minimal work day. Sleep in, double check our packing list, finish up a lot of small tasks, etc. It is good to be retired - you can do things like this. I did get some seat time on the GC1720, using the FEL to put the propane grill back up on what is left of the deck. We will get the truck loaded and hit the road tomorrow. @Pullstart, we'll wave when we fly through your neighborhood. Still got those wheels and hubs we talked about last year? I'll have to see about making a visit in the next couple three weeks if you do. Edited 7 hours ago by 8ntruck 2

The 80s EFI systems aren't difficult to understand, but can be cantankerous until you do, particularly the TFI ignition.

Here's the thread: No injection on this one. It currently has a one barrel. The ground has had 10,000 gallons of water setting on top of it for 12+ years so it's pretty hard. We made a dent in it today. Rain forecasted this week, so hopefully it will take on some moisture and soften up,
MainelyWheelhorse 2,511 #9599 Posted 3 hours ago I had a shift at work in the morning. I then worked on getting my 42” mowing deck back together and visiting with family. I’m thinking I might do some painting on it, as I have a few days off. It’s 90% apart now so might as well do it while I have the time and the weather is good.
