Bertie 314 #1 Posted January 20, 2020 Managed to pick up a 704 which is a rare opportunity in the UK. Stood for many years as you can see but has not been messed with and still has the K161 in place which turns over and has compression which I didn't expect. Work to do before I can attempt to get it running but looking forward to that. Tyres are shot, carb is crusty etc, etc but looking forward to working on it. It will be one of those leave alone or fully rebuild questions going forward but I like it as it is at the minute... 6 8

WHX?? 46,403 #6 Posted January 20, 2020 Very Nice! I'd bet they are somewhat rare over there. That seat matches pretty well I'd say. 2 hours ago, Bertie said: those leave alone or fully rebuild questions Leave alone gets my vote! 2 hours ago, Achto said: 704 is one model that is on my bucket list. What's the hardware on the front for ..I don't recognize it?

Sparky-(Admin) 19,284 #8 Posted January 20, 2020 Nice find! My vote is to leave it alone, except paint the rims up with an original color like almond or beige.
rjg854 10,642 #9 Posted January 20, 2020 even a tractor in its work clothes looks so much better with nicely painted wheels.

WHX?? 46,403 #12 Posted January 21, 2020 No no Tom... my bad...I meant I should have gotten rid of the tecky...and give it to @squonk and put in a Kohler! .. as Mike @prondzydid whom I sold it to. He turned from a 604 to a 704! Did a damn nice job too... very similar patina.

Mike'sHorseBarn 2,475 #14 Posted January 21, 2020 Very nice find! I'd leave it alone and maybe even put some hood decals on it since they are scratched off. Maybe paint the wheels as others have suggested.

Bertie 314 #16 Posted January 22, 2020 Managed an hour at lunch so removed the hood. Stood so long the carb is solid with brown varnish (ancient fuel) so need to find a repair kit and a fuel pump but I've got spark and compression so can't be bad 👍 2
