How do you find these things? 

 

I was surfing CL frequently while we were up in our 'alternate location' the past couple of weeks.  If it were listed there, I missed it.

 

Good catch, though you are going to have to re-arrange your shelves to fit it in.  Didn't I just comment how things will expand to fit your new found storage space?

This was in St. Louis, up by Mt. Pleasant.  It was closer to you than me, for close to three weeks

I noticed the melted / missing wires on the starter/generator.  He said it always kept the battery charged...  I’ll look into what those should be doing!

By the way Steve, it is not my intention to use all those horse names... I don’t have that much storage yet!

I could however rename “Steve” the C-81 as Sea Biscuit like @Alex175 has figured out Sea sounds like C... then name this new one Steve!  Maybe they’ll both be Steve.  Maybe I’ll change all my tractors’ names to Steve.

That's my college edumacation coming in handy right there!  I also highly approve of Sea Biscuit.  the 81 even looks like BI, the first two letters of Biscuit!  Whoooo, I'm on a roll 

 

As for your question earlier regarding headlights on the 65 models, my 655 does not have the headlight bezel, just a sticker over where the lights would be and there is no cutout for them.  However the 700 series hood that I was given to replace my butchered one does have the cutout for the lights.

That is the L terminal which is for lighting ...goes to the head light switch. Will charge without it.

Explains why the lights didn’t work... or one of the reasons!

It's got something to do with the how the regulator/SG can supply a lighting load without taking away from the charge circuit or something like that. You wire it Kev throw an inline fuse in there.

Later model six speed Steve? Note the absence of the filler extension. Somebody did somewhat of a nice job on it anyway. Made a working tractor out of a few years. 

What did you end up giving for it Kev? If's it in the neighborhood of what I think you did you might have got a deal. Plow, weights, motor is worth the price of admission. Does it run & drive?

Is the lighter and lighting on the same circuit?  Maybe he was powering a big flood and smoking a @stevebo hoobie doobie at the same time to melt that wire...  So when running, I should have 12V+ From the stud to ground?

Because of my drive, (close to 100 miles each way) he didn’t blink an eye when I offered $400.  The starter squeals for a bit once in a while, so I’ll try to tighten it a bit or just grab a replacement belt.  Otherwise, no smoke on start up (other than cold steam... it was 19 degrees and had sat about a month... we had to unbury it from the shed and there was enough bird poop on it to prove it had been sitting too!) and not a single odd noise or concern.  I backed up to his ditch and drove it on the truck!

 

After all was said and done, I probably could’ve gotten a better deal but I’m happy with it.  He said 10 years ago he gave $650 for it, with a blower and deck.  He only wanted to plow with it and tote stuff around the yard, so he had sold off the other two attachments.  He’s also kept up on maintenance and shop repairs, so I feel good about it.

Yes you should. Not sure but think 12v is there all the time....even when motor isn't running. My 1067 is like that but I have all custom wiring. The lights would run off the lighter. The diagram is correct as a '56 would not have had lights. Yah fuse is case you have to light up a stogie...

I got some very loud pops at the end of the video.  It was mostly empty, but not out of fuel. I topped it off and added sea foam.It really likes part choke when it’s running, but it’s super quiet... something I’m not much used to!

I’m now a veteran Wheel Horse snow plower.. but I think I might be too spoiled by a warm cab!

You know the drill on a new to me... new fluids, fuel line, filters, carb cleaning...prolly a bunch of crap in that bowl and for gods sake CHECK THE OIL!

I might have seen that one on CL, now that I think about it.  Didn't notice that it was in St Louis, though.  I was looking for big wheel tractors at the time, too.

You call that snow???  I would have got out the leaf blower for that.  

 

Good eye Jim...not sure if it is a 10 pinion LS, but I think it is either a #5073 or the 8 pinion #5091.  Have to count the bolts in the differential housing to know for sure now.

You know @stevasaurus you should really think about naming a few of your horses, you’re pretty good at it!

 

Mrs. Pullstart fixed me a “dark and stormy” and sent me to the shop to play for a few hours while she has a few girlfriends over.  

 

Sometimes a name just happens.  Like tonight.  Here’s “Stormy”!
