Cee245 753 #1 Posted November 16, 2019 (edited) Hi, I'm working on putting a stator on my 417. I'm having trouble finding the plug that the stator plugs into. I've looked through the files without success. Can anyone help? Edited November 17, 2019 by Cee245
Cee245 753 #2 Posted November 16, 2019 Well, I see that it plugs into the "alternator" . Another question is what oil filter do I use for this motor? And which transmission filter? I have a Napa near by... Thanks, Cory
pfrederi 17,143 #3 Posted November 16, 2019 If you have an oil filter on the engine it is not an original WH installed Kohler. WH didn't use filter. Maybe some one added one in which case i would use what ever they used. Tranny Wix 51410
Cee245 753 #4 Posted November 16, 2019 Thanks @pfrederi, does anyone know the capacities?

Cee245 753 #6 Posted November 16, 2019 Thanks @pfrederi, can someone point me in the right direction to get spare points and condenser for this motor? Today i made progress, finally! (I recently worked a ton of hours because work needed us)... Finally some weekends off! Cory
Cee245 753 #7 Posted November 16, 2019 This is my engine model plate. I keep seeing on the internet, "k Points & Condenser Set for Kohler K-Series Engines K91 K141 K161 K181 K241 K301 Which K do I have?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,490 #8 Posted November 16, 2019 When you enter KT17-24363 in here this is what comes up https://www.partstree.com/models/kt17-24323-kohler-k-series-engine-made-for-wheel-horse-17hp/ Take the Kohler part numbers to Napa - they will fix you up. Then there should be a 3rd wire added to take the regulated charge current to the battery or ignition switch. Garry
Cee245 753 #10 Posted November 17, 2019 I'm looking into that tonight @gwest_ca. I'm not good with electrical. I'm hoping I'll learn some things along the way.
Cee245 753 #11 Posted November 19, 2019 All I can say for the last couple days, this tractor has gotten a good cleaning. Dealing with "normal" issues on it after 5 years of sitting.
Cee245 753 #12 Posted November 19, 2019 Yes @gwest_ca. Voltage regulator.
Cee245 753 #13 Posted November 20, 2019 I worked on the 417 again today.... Just a little update of what I've done so far... Installed new spark plugs and got the starter I ordered. The old starter had a lot of play. I got new fuel lines for it and flushed the gas tank out. This is a slow going project mostly because of long hours at work typically 7 days a week. @gwest_ca. Can you move this back to the original topic? I was hoping to provide a general description of how I end up getting this 417a running well again and not just fixing the electrical stuff. Also, I changed the engine oil today. I'm still shocked that this motor came without an oil filter from the factory. Cory
