There is about 400+ acres of corn still standing in the neighborhood.  We never saw a single deer this morning.  With temps over 60, I imagine the same this afternoon.  We’ll be going back out for a night shift around 2…

I’m down hunting at the farm and my wife sends me pictures of this old guy that showed up in the back yard.  He’s a real teaser standing between my gas grill and smoker😆

@oliver2-44 does your wife have a gun all tuned up?  I’ve heard plenty of stories of the wife/mom/grandma staying home during deer camp and they shot the biggest buck while the men were out in the woods!

And that's so true, Kevin.  I've seen that happen many times, myself.

This guy came by at 7:20 on Thursday and I got a good shot on him filling my second Michigan tag. Lots of deer with very few hunters with opener in the middle of the week.

@steelman nice work, again!  I keep hearing shots to the west, quite close.  Enough of them, I think it’s target practice.  Lots of corn standing, I still haven’t seen a deer.  It’s supposed to get colder soon, maybe they’ll start moving around more.

@Horse Newbie the lengths a dude will go to for some tail once a year…

*edit*

it kind of reminds me of Thursday morning of the Big Show, rushing to get in before the gates open!

26 degrees F this morning.  The butt hole neighbor set a big ole pile ablaze at 6:30 am, just before light.  I had deer walking under me, but I call 911 in concern of it being his house.  My uncle says he was tossing accelerants on the fire.  It looked like the sun coming up in the wrong direction.

No deer during daylight yet, but it’s a beautiful day!  I even recorded a shooting star while trying to capture the blaze.

My morning coffee view and the real sunrise:

4 does walked under us at 6:30 this morning.  Heard a shot NW of us a ways 30 minutes too early.  Calm and 35 degrees.

I was lucky first day in Ct. Firearms season, big doe offered me an opportunity and I didn't hesitate. My old 300 savage model 99 did the job again. Going back Monday and try to fill my either sex tag. Fortunate to have a generous land owner that has allowed access for decades.

Good luck to everyone getting after them.

Saw 4 before first light yesterday, one good doe for a moment around 10.  They are starting to migrate to my grass more and more it seems, as some corn gets cut.  The 100 isn’t harvested yet, but you can’t shoot one if you’re not in the tree!  :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

The range finder said 201.8 yards.  450 Bushmaster does it again!

Feisty 6 point taken at 8:30 this morning..
