I tried hooking up a 42"(300 series) plow on to a 5xI tractor! It seems to be about 6" short??Has anybody tried this? I assume I'd have to make a 6" extension on the back of the plow?

Hi Ed!

Hope all's well. Are you going to either Owls Head or the Maine Meet n greet?

I've not tried to mount a plow like that but I'm sure someone else has.

I do know there's an extension kit made for 520 series.

@WVHillbilly520H may be able to shed some light here.

The xi series tractors are longer than the B,C,3,400 series classics the 520s took an extenion kit, honesty you really need to try and find an xi series plow and frame... It can the other way xi to classic but... Also the xi uses a stalbizer in the front attach-a-matic to keep the blade frame from swaying side to side uses an unique angle lever and the rear hitch bracket is completely different as well... @shallowwatersailor can you offer any help as why not to use a classic series plow vs an xi series?

The 5xi dozer blade is a 48" blade and frame is longer as well as slightly wider at the rear than a Wheel Horse Classic dozer blade. The added length required a stabilizer attached to the front Attach-A-Matic to keep it from wallowing while in use. You mention a 42" blade which will also be inside the track of the 5xi if you angle/sector it. That is why the 5xi blade is 48" wide.
