@adsm08 That one had the 460 with the 5 speed behind it...bought it from the original owner...300k miles and didn’t use a drop of oil...and she’d pull anything I ever hooked behind her and never look back

@ebinmaine

stand by for lots of pics from the Black Hills and Custer State Park...sitting at a restaurant in Hot Springs SD now waiting on dinner, when we get home I’ll post all the pictures we took today

The 460 is a great engine,  i just don't like the fuel consumption to power ratios. I have all gas vehicles because my useage doesnt justify diesel,  but i vastly prefer it.

I once almost bought a delta to throw the 350D in my 78 Omega, and if i ever get the chance my Ranger and maybe my Bronco II will be repowered with Cummins products.

Agreed...  Said the truck driver... :D

Hhmmm..... a Ranger could easily hold an older 4 cylinder Detroit.....

I'll agree with a V8 engines.... But I love the straight sixes.

I've had 302, 351, 460 in various Vehicles owned by myself and my father over the years. although they can definitely be massaged quite a lot I've never been a huge fan of any particular V8.

I like stuff that's a tiny bit unconventional.

I've had several of the Ford F-series trucks with 300-6s in them.

That and a 292 GM straight 6 are two of my favorite engines.

I would absolutely positively go get another 1992 to 1995 F series with a 300/ 5 speed in it, in a heartbeat.

Starts great. Runs great. Gobs of torque.

I had fantastic luck with those trucks.

I second the 300-6 statement. They will run forever and have good power for their size. Reliable as can be.

I do have a 292 GM sitting in the shop, sitting there ready to be transplanted into something worthy.

Bryce, that's some nice looking country!

Bryce, that's some nice looking country!

Here's a quote from an older thread about the 292 I once had:

Love the old straight 6 engines.

Had a 292 in an 81 Chevy.

Heavy 3/4 ton chassis with 9 leaf one ton tear springs. Turbo 400. 4:56 rear.

Offenhauser aluminum intake with a 450 cfm Holley model 4380 mechanical secondary carb.

Found a bigger exhaust manifold ( from what I can't remember). Chevelle mid sixties front pipe. Turbo muffler.

Changed the ignition timing a bit.

Went down the road well.
