This thread sure does fly fast!  Such cool stuff comes up, thanks guys!  Kyle, I’ve got to toot my horn that, though way too slow, I guessed correctly before scrolling down for the answer on the swivels!  I’d never seen a plastic one, at first I thought a bubbler for wine making, then I saw it up close and knew it was a swivel.

Hey where is Ed?

I'm here Cas.    Been quite busy with spring maintenance, family activities, and physical therapy for a friend.     When I started this thread, I never expected it would be so entertaining,

informative, and captivating.

Thank you all for sharing a part of your family history.     And thanks to all that are participating and offering new challenges.

I'll have to search through my tool box for something worthy.

I think it's a Coopers fuller.  Used to set the barrel hoops.   I've seen them as an unhandled tool struck with a maul, but this one might be held by the handle and hit with another object.

Correct, it is a Coopers Hammer. Really not used as a hammer except when just initially snugging hoop or sometimes adjusting level of a stubborn stave. Then one rests grooved edge on hoop and strikes top of it with another hammer or mallet. I use a mason's mallet. One just walks around barrel evenly striking hoop about every 10 inches or so. This is much better than using the unhandeled ones looking like a cold chisel since it is much kinder on your left hand.Since this is done rather quickly it is quite common to hit hand holding it with mallet. With this one hand is well away from that.

This time I’ll hold the hints closer to the chest.... what they are shouldn’t be difficult, it’s their application that might leave you scratching your head.

Care to give a shot at telling us what they’re each used for?

The spatula is used mostly to smooth sand like in a reef aquarium and the others for various uses such as trimming plants or removing small dead coral pieces etc, depending whether one has a fresh or salt water tank.

Perfect!

I have freshwater tanks, but they're live planted, one tank the plant being the focal point more than the inhabitants.

I’d like to do saltwater but just don’t have the real estate for it in the house..... maybe once the kids leave the nest 😂😂

I was hoping to last a little longer but should’ve known better haha

That’s a gorgeous set up @formariz!

I have a 29,10, and 5.5 currently. In high school I had a couple dozen 2.5 breeder tanks with several different species of Killie in them, and bred Bettas at one time. I also have a 5 gallon Rubbermaid tote o use to cultivate feeder guppies and Scud to feed the other tanks. They all need cleaned (which is why I have the tools out 😂) so I’ll post em after that.

So far aquariums are my longest running hobby. I was the only Marine in the barracks in Japan that had fish in his billet haha.
